Association of CACNA1S Gene with Carcass and Meat Quality Traits in F2 of Jinhua × Pietrain Swine

Abstract:Single-nucleotide polymorphism of CACNA1S gene was detected by polymerase chain reaction-single strand conformational polymorphism(PCR-SSCP) in 126 crossbred of Jinhua and Pietrain,and the genetic effects of CACNA1S gene on the carcass and meat quality traits were analyzed.The results indicated that both the genotypes BC and BD of the locus 1S-46 had significant effects on water-holding capacity(P<0.01),BC had significant effect on meat lightness(L)(P<0.05) and BB had significant effect on eye muscle area(P<0.05).All of the three genotypes of BC of locus 1S-61,AA of locus 1S-70 and AA of locus 1S-72 had significant effects on ham weight(P<0.01,P<0.05,P<0.01,respectively).The genotype BB of the locus 1S-64 had significant effects on ham temperature(P<0.01) and eye muscle temperature(P<0.05).The genotype AB,AC and AE of the locus 1S-74 had significant effects on ham weight,backfat thickness at thorax-waist and water-holding capacity,respectively(all of them were P<0.01).
