Abstract:Studied in accordance with computer vision system, this article puts forward the major problems existing in the hardware embodying levels of vision system. Then it explores new ideas in resolving these problems, and puts forward a vision processing system based on FPGA in the need of stereo vision system. As FPGA can be reconstructed freely, it can take charge of some computing work to strengthen the real time issue of visual processing. The system can be well applied to 3-D stereo vision system as a front-end graphic grabbing device and co-processor.

Abstract:In the field of medical application, it is of great importance to adopt digital image processing technique. Based on the characteristics of medical image, we introduced the digital image processing method to the X-ray imaging system, and developed a high resolution x-ray medical sequential image acquisition and processing system that employs image enhancer and CCD. This system consists of three basic modules, namely sequential image acquisition, data transfer and system control, and image processing. Under the control of FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array), images acquired by the front-end circuit are transmitted to a PC through high speed PCI bus, and then optimized by the image processing program. The software kits, which include PCI Device Driver and Image Processing Package, are developed with Visual C++ Language based on Windows OS. In this paper, we present a general introduction to the principle and the operating procedure of X-ray Sequential Image Acquisition and Processing System, with special emphasis on the key issues of the hardware design. In addition, the context, principle, status quo and the digitizing trend of X-ray Imaging are explained succinctly. Finally, the preliminary experimental results are shown to demonstrate that the system is capable of achieving high quality X-ray sequential images.

Abstract:In the past few years, there has been significant progress in the communications and computer technology, which requires stable, clear video image display. On the other hand, conventional analog video processing method, due to its intrinsic limitations, can not meet the requirement of high quality and high speed operation. Meanwhile, the digital video processing technique that integrates with the computer technology is growing rapidly. In this paper, we introduce the art of FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) that has been widely used for video signal processing, and develop the video signal acquisition and processing system that based on FPGA, thereby achieve real-time video signal acquiring, processing, and transferring.

Abstract:A design of high definition video acquisition and display system based on FPGA is presented.The system uses FPGA as the main processor cooperated with the high definition CCD image sensor,ADC analog-digital convertor,video coder etc.The real-time high definition video acquisition and display system is realized.The FPGA implementation of the Bayer interpolation,color space conversion and BURST transmission are detailedly delivered.The test shows that the system works well,can satisfy the real-time video surveillance requirement.

Abstract:A video processing model is presented which is designed for real-time stereoscopic display system based on Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). The system makes use of image parallax theory and combines some high speed system design technologies. The hardware platform includes image acquisition, processing and display parts. Viewers need a pair of stereo glasses to experience stereoscopic display technology. This design is verified and has some applicable fields. It features real-time, low-cost and easy-feasibility and fills in a gap of displaying high definition timely stereoscopic image with high refresh rate Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) panel.

Abstract:To achieve the strict requirements for rapidness of the data acquisition and the precision of data transmission during the scanning of CT machines,a design approach for the real-time data acquisition and remote transmission system based on FPGA technology is presented. The approach adopts an overall structure of ARM+FPGA and realizes a real-time signal processing assembly line of data acquisition, storage, format conversion, FEC coding and HOTLink transmission. And some effective methods are gived to ensure the reliability of the physical interfaces and the precision of the remote data transmission. A high-speed and high-precision method to acquire analog signals is also proposed. The approach is applied in the CT scanner produced by GE Corporation.

Abstract:This paper presents design and preliminary performance of a mixed-signal front-end electronics dedicated to CZT detectors. It is implemented by a full-customized readout application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) with a post digital pulse shaping algorithm in FPGA. In this scheme, the analog front-end consists of a preamplifier using split-let topology followed by a variable gain amplifier. A multiple-point sampling ramp ADC is integrated to digitize the amplified pulse voltage signals into multiple point sampling data. The digital CR-RC <sup xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">n</sup> shaping and digital trapezoidal shaping algorithms are implemented in a FPGA. Meanwhile, the triggers are digitized by a time-to-digital converter in the time channel of FPGA. A prototype ASIC is implemented in CMOS 0.35 μm mixed-signal process. The preliminary results have been obtained. The detection range of the gamma ray is from 11.2 keV to 550 keV. The linearity of the output voltage is less than 1 %. The gain of the readout channel is 40.2 V/pC. The test results show that the proposed front-end electronics is appropriable for PET imaging applications.

Abstract:The digital image acquisition and processing technology already mature also in domains and so on visual communication obtains day by day[1]. However, the image acquisition and processing technology had many kinds, for example white balance processing and image denoising methods. The traditional image acquisition and processing systems are implemented using software by the PC or DSP chip[2], and sometimes software in series can not meet the requirement of high speed image processing. this article has given FPGA in the image acquisition and processing simple application, applied FPGA in the image acquisition and processing to be possible to enhance the image processing the speed, reduced takes the logical unit. Abstract:Infrared image processing is a conventional topic, but the hardware design and implementation for infrared image processing algorithms are full of challanges, especially for special purpose infrared detectors which have customized interfaces and protocols. Moreover, some customized infrared detectors only generate the infrared image with very poor quality. Therefore, in this paper, we design and implement an infrared image preprocessing system based on FPGA for customized infrared detectors. We propose a hardware architecture that includes the whole process from the input of detector, image processing, to final infrared video stream output and display. Our hardware architecture is able to adapt to different customized infrared detectors, which has the characteristics of real-time, low-power, dynamic parameter configuration, high processing efficiency and stable imaging effect. We have implemented it on Xilinx FPGA. The infrared imaging effect is significantly improved with limited FPGA resources (about only 1.6M LUT, 420 BRAM for all algorithm models on Xilinx zc706 evaluation board), the image processing speed can reach to 225Hz with the resolution of 320*256. Our preprocessing system can generate real-time video for display with 1920*1080@60Hz.

Abstract:In this paper, we present a reconfigurable system-on-chip architecture targeted mainly to medical imaging applications. By combining general purpose processors and FPGA-based hardware, and integrating the whole system into a single FPGA chip, we were able to build a compact system without sacrificing processing power and flexibility. A prototype board based on the proposed architecture was built and evaluated in a digital X-ray imaging system. Preliminary results were presented and showed that the architecture could satisfy real-time digital X-ray imaging requirements

Abstract:As digital video signal processing for display device requires high-speed transmission and real-time processing, the circuit system must give a powerful data-processing capacity. A scheme of video signal processing system for FED (Field Emission Display) which constructed by DSP of TMS320C6713 and FPGA of XC3S200-PQ208 is introduced. The circuit system combines the advantages of both DSP and FPGA, with a microprocessor embedded system function and parallel algorithm structure, and provides a good solution to the high-speed and real-time signal processing.

Abstract:As CCD camera analog signal data is enormous and FPGA's parallel processing capability is powerful,A project is proposed to acquire and display real-time analog video image data,which contains CCD camera,FPGA,synchronous dynamic random access memory(SDRAM),video decoding and encoding chip.According to the steps of video signal processing,five modules are implemented,including the decode of ITU656,video signal processor,SDRAM controller,color space conversion and VGA display controller module.These modules accomplish video decoder chip's configuration,parsing,processing,storage and display.The verification show good realization on hardware board.

Abstract:In general, the image processing part is placed on the personal computer (PC) for processing. However, with the amount of data to be processed increases dramatically, the requirement for data processing speed is increasing. Further, a real-time imaging system using Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) is implemented, which is designed for a large-array CMOS camera based on USB3.0 interface. Given the advantages of FPGA parallel processing, this design will implement sensor image processing pipeline (IPP) with the FPGA. At the same time, the high speed storage device double data rate (DDR3) is used in the system to cache image data. A Xilinx FPGA is the core processing unit of the entire system, and it completes all the functional modules, including the CMOS driving, data transmission, real-time image stitching and image caching. FPGA-based IPP and DDR3 frame buffer application can improve the video frame rate. Finally, the imaging experimental results show that the large-array CMOS real-time imaging system has a display resolution of 7920*5432 with a stable frame rate of 8.5 fps, and achieves a good balance between speed and efficiency.

Abstract:In view of the slow speed,low display resolution,and inconvenience to carry of traditional image processing platform,in this paper,a high-speed image processing platform which including high-speed collection,processing and display is designed.based on FPGA.Image collection system collects image through the Camera Link interface and image processing section uses ping-pong operation to store the image data.Then FPGA complete the image pre-processing,such as filtering,image enhancement,etc.DSP performs the complex computational image processing.The image display section outputs a standard video signal for DVI display.Experimental results show that the platform realizes the high speed image processing.It's volume is small and the data amount is large.It can replace the traditional image processing platform,and applied to various fields of image processing.

Abstract:The paper presented a real-time image zooming sub-system based on FPGA for x-ray imaging and discussed the interpolation methods used in image zooming.Then a module for bicubic interpolation based on FPGA was designed and implemented.The system is proved to be stable when it is applied to the X-ray images with high resolution and frame rate zooming.

Abstract:Objective To design a high precision digital B mode ultrasound scanner system based on FPGA. Methods The image quality was promised by using multi channel technology, the processes of the digital signal dynamic filtering, detection, aperture synthesis and data compression were completed by using FPGA. Results The system provided clear image, stable performance and portability and was able to meet the need of medical detection. Conclusion The image quality could be improve and the volume of the scanner could be reduced by using embedded technology and advanced digital signal processing arithmetic.

Abstract:As silicon photomultiplier (SiPM) technology develops, its possible applications are being growingly expanded. However, the current technical obstacle is the signal readout from large-scale, multi-pixel SiPMs, especially in a large nuclear imaging device. Although the application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) provide ways to reach that goal, it needs a long period with iterative electronic process and a very high cost. We developed a high-integrated positron emission tomography (PET) electronics system with field programmable gate array based charge-to-digital converter (FPGA-QDC) technology instead of the ASICs. Unlike traditional FPGA-based charge readout method in which low-voltage differential signaling (LVDS) receivers serve as analog voltage comparators, in the proposed electronics system voltage-referenced receivers work as analog comparators.Theoretically, nearly all of input/output (I/O) ports in the FPGA can achieve the function of analog comparators using voltage-referenced I/O standard. The electronics system is constructed using off-the-shelf low-cost commercial components. Therefore, it is feasible to fast build a distributed readout system with multiple such electronics system. The flexibility and reconfigurability of the FPGA provide multi-channel grouping and diverse triggering for different kinds of detector configurations, such as row/column summation and resistor-based readout. These features are greatly sought after in readout electronics for the SiPM-based radiation detectors. Experimental results show that the proposed highly-integrated electronics system overcomes the bottleneck that has limited the development of advanced PET detectors and scanners.
