Abstract:Based on a comparison of the education system and education philosophy in schools of electronic information in German and Chinese universities of science and engineering,the essay analyzes the difference of present education system in evaluation system,management system,practice and application.By making full use of the successful teaching experience in Germany,the present author puts forward some suggestions on teaching system,philosophy and other aspects,shedding light on domestic educational reform of the specialty,and a new educational system which takes students as the main body.

Abstract:The Jingshi Daxuetang established in 1898 displayed the form but not the real- ity of a university.The so called"form"refers to the fact that it borrowed relevant system of a modern university and introduced relevant instruction contents from Japan indirectly. While,"reality"so called was still under the influence of traditional ideas,not free from the old-fashioned bureau nature.The phenomenon mentioned above can be reflected in Qinding Jingshi Daxuetang Zhangcheng(regulations of Peking University made in 1902)and Jingshi Daxuetang zhangcheng made in 1904.Not until the appearance of Daxue Ling chiefly made by Cai yuanpei at the beginning of the Republic of China can the university idea of modern u- niversity see the transition from tradition to modern.

Abstract:Western education in the Middle Ages was of a wide range of institutional structures,which took the church,monarchy and multi-secular opposition for the main features.Medieval China was of a unitary structure of the education system included the state-ran schools and private schools.they were always the clients to authoritarian politics.Thus in the course and content,and the value aspects of education,there are great differences.Finally breakthrough happened in the West with the help of the secular humanism.The universities has gradually become the base of freedom of thought at the time,cultivating a large group of people of independent personality and cultural giant.China's education system has always hovered at the Millennium under the shadow of authoritarian rule,only to train a group of knights of the pen,so China could not get out of the cycle of traditional culture and the Middle Ages.

Abstract:In the early days Department of Sociology,Yanjing University,was mainly staffed with American teachers and the objectives of training,programs of courses and textbooks were thickly characteristic of the West.And a teaching faculty with Chinese teachers as the mainstay had not taken shape till some 1926.These Chinese teachers worked hard to develop Chinese theory of sociology,train Chinese sociological workers and serve development of Chinese society.They made great contributions to the Chinesization of sociology and valuable experience to the construction of college disciplines.

Abstract:The governance/administration of a university is based on its Statute.It has been more than a century since China began to draw up university Statutes for its universities. This paper conducted a comparison of historical documents including A Proposal of the Draft of Charter for the Imperial University of Peking,Organizational Outline of National Peking University,Tentative Specifications of Colleges and Universities and Statute of Peking University,as well as regulations of Chinese academies in Song Dynasty and the Statutes of modern Chinese universities in the first half of the 20th century. Meanwhile,this paper also examined the legislation and construction of university Statutes in the mainland of China,Taiwan,Hong Kong and Macao.All these constructions of university Statutes presented various structural forms and integrated thoughts of university governance at all different times.The development of university Statutes not only provides experience for the governance of universities in China,but also improves our understanding of the foundation of university governance,the basis of its long-term development,and the building of world-class universities.

Abstract:According to the doccements published in journals and newspapers in the last years of the Qing Dynasty, a historical argument was made on the oblivious Shaanxi Grand School and its school system, teaching programme and students′ movements. From this we get the conclusion that the establishment of the Shaanxi Grand School has laid the foundation of modern institutions of higher education in Shaanxi and marked the transformation from the system of academy of classical learning to the system of modern school characteristic of the western eaducational administration and teaching programme.

Abstract:Studies on English education in Old China’s universities (EEOCU) has been neglected, as a result of historical causes. On the basis of a brief introduction to the periods of its progress, the paper treats EEOCU in such eight aspects as its“orientation”in the system of social education and its general goals, its epistemological features, classroom teaching, functions of teachers and textbooks, teaching methods, teaching staff, its features in environmental construction, assessment faculty, and the roles of mother tongue. The paper highlights the success of EEOCU in the distinct orientation in social education, the close integration of verbal knowledge with specialty knowledge, the distinctive functions of different parts in the system, the emphasis on self-directed learning, the high competence of teaching staff, and the solid and well-knit foundation of the mother tongue.

Abstract:The process of the evolution of university tuition policies reflected the changes of the political and economic structure of modern China during the period from Late Qing Dynasty to Early Republic of China. By comparing and ana-lyzing on various types of universities,universities and schools,university tuition fees and the income and expenditure of all classes,the research shows college tuition was not a heavy burden for the average families. Lower families could send their children to public universities, higher family could send their children to private universities, or even Christian col-leges. From the angle of input-output ratio the tuition of the higher education was very worthy.

Abstract:Professor Chen Pingyuan states that today's university in China is not a fixed entity;instead,it still has many constrained possibilities.His research on Chinese universities with a history of nearly one hundred years is not only an extension of professional research,but also has its inner logic of academic development and shows concern for reality.In his latest book,History,Legend and Spirit:One Hundred Years of Chinese Universities(Hong Kong:Joint Publishing Co.,2009),Chen's inquiry of the history of Chinese universities in the last one hundred years actually focuses on the significant issue of the origination and destination of China.In his study of Chinese universities,literature takes a particularly special position.The "literature" here does not refer to a special kill or a peripheral discipline in current education system;it is a taste.To be precise,it is a kind of basic education for everyone.In this sense,"literature" is "education".Only from the standpoint of "literature" as a way of education,could Chinese universities be given a total perspective and developed.

Abstract:The future of China's system of higher education will depend on which aspects of its past are most highly valued. This article explores the history of higher education in China from its ancient academies to the modern Western‐influenced university. Although the May Fourth Movement of 1919 recommended the complete elimination of traditional elements in Chinese culture, the past century has revealed problems with the wholesale embrace of Western institutions. Modern higher education, based first on European models and later on American colleges and universities, has been a major part of the transformation of China in the past century. But cracks have appeared in the façade. The balance between tradition and innovation has been lost, students are being produced by universities like products of a factory assembly line, and college graduates often remain unemployed or underemployed for years after completing a degree. To remedy this condition, a number of reformers in China are looking to the past for answers. The article discusses both official and private experiments with “organic” educational programs that aim at creating well‐rounded persons, not merely students crammed with facts. A number of these new programs combine physical work with academic study as a reminder that life is a balance between mental and physical factors. More generally, the reform of modern education reclaims elements of the Chinese tradition that have been neglected, elements that recognize that education should ultimately aim at cultivating wisdom and not merely at accumulating knowledge.
