Abstract:The SVC reactive compensation algorithm based on the instantaneous reactive theory is presented, and the design of the low-pass filter under the condition of imbalance load current is discussed in this paper. A low-pass filter for SVC is given by used of Butterworth low-pass filter and average value algorithm, by which the high order and low order harmonic waves are filtered effectively. The simulating results of a practical engineering show that the new filter has higher detection precision and faster dynamic performance. The method mentioned in this paper has been applied to a power source system for transferring three-phase into single-phase.

Abstract:With the rapid development of China's national economy, the level of power system construction and operation management has been greatly improved compared with the past, but the requirements of power users for power production and management departments are also higher and higher. A lot of research work has been carried out on how to improve the power supply reliability, rapid repair ability and controllability of power system. The new type of fine reactive power compensation device introduced in this paper can better meet the above requirements, which reflects the current frontier technology direction of reactive power compensation development, and will play an increasing role in improving the voltage stability of China's distribution network, improving the power factor of equipment and enhancing the transmission capacity.

Abstract:Reactive power supply can be chosen for parallel active power tilter (PAPF) as two different compensation targets.Since the interrelationship between these two different compensation targets has not been deeply analyzed,the PAPF based on P-Q instantaneous power theory with mathematic derivation is studied,mathematic model of key points is established and the conclusion is drawn.The P-Q control theory could be regarded as a composite control with the feedforward of current and the feedback of DC link voltage.The feedforward currents could be different in these two different compensation targets.Finally,simulation and experimental results prove the validity of the analysis.

Abstract:Accurate calculation of reactive power and reasonable reactive power compensation are the key to improving the quality of electrical power.The paper stresses to analyze reactive power which is invovled in non-sinusoidal circuits and develop the calculation formula of the reactive power and distortion power by means of Fourier method.The measurement methods of the reactive power system is also analyzed in this paper.Finally the paper analyzes the balance of reactive power and TSC reactive power compensation.through characteristic curves and wave forms which are measured and storged by digital storage oscilloscope.

Abstract:New functions are proposed for widely used high Power Fact (PF) type rectifiers. Besides normal AC-DC conversion, rectifiers can compensate reactive power and filter harmonic current, which are produced by adjacent electrical apparatus. This means rectifiers with these two new functions can be used as reactive power compensators and Active Power Filters (APF). Consequently, it will be greatly benefit to the power quality and stability of the power systems. Different operation modes of the novel rectifier and corresponding control schemes are given in this paper. Detailed simulation results verify the validity of the proposed methodology.

Abstract:With analysing of the control method in the common nine regions,a new method of substation voltage reactive power comprehensive fuzzy control based on reactive power verge associated with voltage presented in this paper.The effect is proved by simulation result.It can effectively decrease adjusting times of the switching of on-load transformers and paralleled compensation capacitors in substation,and then improve the voltage quality.

Abstract:In order to improve the real-time performance and stability of the existing TSC system compensation,the existing TSC dynamic reactive power compensation system was analyzed and discussed.The related algorithms and techniques of TSC were discussed from five aspects of the reactive power algorithm,the compensation principle,the control strategy,the structure of the main circuit,etc..The selection basis was given by comparing the advantages and disadvantages of various methods.And the TSC system development process that needs attention was described in detail.The research results show that the reasonable algorithms and techniques can improve the performance of the TSC effectively.

Abstract:In traditional high-voltage direct current systems, alternating current system faults can lead to commutation failures, which may further induce the blocking of converters. After the faults are cleared, the fast recovery of commutating voltage, as one key factor to avoid converter blocks, is closely related to dynamic voltage support. The dynamic voltage behaviour considering the reactive power characteristic of converters is analysed, where the polynomial approximation is applied to facilitate our studies. Focusing on the synchronous compensator, the transient voltage support ability is analysed, and then the steady state output of synchronous compensators is regarded as a parameter to take parametric analysis. Case studies show that the steady state VAR output of synchronous compensators has influence on the countering of commutation failures, and an optimal allocation can be found by analysing the results in the form of polynomials.

Abstract:For many capacitive power transfer (CPT) systems, load-independent constant current (CC) output characteristics can improve load adaptation of topologies and is main process of charging. Load-independent zero phase angle characteristic can decrease reactive power mostly and improve efficiency. High voltages on four coupling plates are very easy to cause air breakdown and also deteriorated the electromagnetic interference (EMI) issue, which limits the transfer power. In this work, different resonance conditions of CC output with ZPA for LCLC-LC compensated CPT systems are analyzed and the case with minimum parameter constraints is designed. In the proposed system, accurate load-independent ZPA characteristic and minimum voltage stresses on coupler plates can be designed in theory. Besides, the design method of CC output with ZPA and voltage stress optimization is based on gyrator method and can simplify the complexity of analysis.

Abstract:The power quality of the low voltage distribution network is the key factors of reliability and stability of each device operational. Comparative analysis between a new PQ(power quality) compensation device configuration of load side and typical reactive voltage compensation configuration program is described in this paper. We also calculated the power flow of the entire feeder model and parameters of devices under the load-side configuration program of compensation device and compared with the classical voltage and reactive power regulation configuration program in the classical tradition of voltage and reactive power regulation performance. Theoretical analysis and simulation and experiment results proved the effectiveness of the load-side new device configuration methods and the superiority of application in rural distribution network.

Abstract:Aiming at reactive power and harmonic current in the low-voltage distribution grid, a hybrid comprehensive dynamic reactive power and harmonic current compensator is designed. The shunt capacitors compensate the fundamental reactive power, the shunt APF eliminates the harmonics and the small amounts of load reactive power. But when they work in the same electric utility there exists resonance problem, in order to avoid resonance, the compensation character of hybrid compensation device under traditional strategies for current type nonlinear load were well studied theoretically and quantitatively by establishing mathematic model. A new current control strategy, which not only suppress line-side harmonic current and reactive power but also avoid resonance between shunt capacitors and line-side impedance, was put forwards. And a new compensator method which the APF only compensates 1/2 reactive power of each shunt capacitor was provided, due to the APF could compensate both inductive and capacitive reactive power. It lower the capacity of APF, and reduce the cost. Simulation show that the new control strategy and the new compensation method work stable, fleetly and effectively eliminates most harmonics and compensates majority reactive power.

Abstract:According to substation running properties and using the most advanced reactive regulating criteria, a substation voltage and reactive power automatic control equipment for realizing optimization control is developed. At the balanced reactive power and the qualified voltage the equipment can ensure minimum operation times of transformer tap and parallely compensate the capacitor switch.The lifetime of transformer taps and capactitor switches increases largely, and substation voltage qualification rate is reached to 100%,as well as the line loss is reduced about 20%.

Abstract:The balance of active and reactive power in the power system is very important for the normal operation of the whole system, the correct method is to inject the corresponding reactive power where much of the reactive power is consumed to maintain the balance. it is of great positive significance to develop a device with integrated new switching technology that can realize non-impact switching of capacitor banks and be controlled by better algorithms. In this paper, an artificial intelligent (AI) control platform for reactive power cloud compensation system is designed and achieved, by switching capacitors on the load side, the requirements of capacitor switching conditions are analyzed, the requirements of capacitor bank and capacitor controller are put forward, and the theoretical analysis is carried out. Results of the installation operation in site show high performance of the designed system.

Abstract:While the existing technology loss reduction platform has made noteworthy strides in theoretical line loss calculation, reactive power optimization, and power flow scheduling optimization, it faces limitations in accurately assessing the reactive power compensation capabilities of power suppliers and providing precise regulation on the reactive power compensation preferences of power consumers. To address these issues, this paper introduces a construction scheme for a provincial technical loss reduction interactive management and control platform that considers the reactive power compensation potential on both the supply and demand sides. The paper presents the design and implementation of two advanced technical loss reduction functions: "Operational State Diagnosis of Low Voltage Reactive Power Compensation Devices" and "Exploration of Reactive Power Potential for Users with Speciality Transformers." The former aims to enhance the effective utilization of low voltage reactive power compensation equipment, exploiting the network loss management potential in low voltage distribution networks. The latter establishes a collaborative, mutually beneficial, and win-win reactive power loss reduction system through information sharing and interaction mechanisms within the platform. Currently, the platform proposed in this paper has been successfully implemented in a provincial power grid, demonstrating outstanding performance.

Topology Design and Control Method for a New Static Var Compensator with Resonance Suppression Function

Abstract:The topology structure and control method of a new type of static var compensator are proposed.To improve the compensation performance of the device,repetitive control is introduced.Then a new static var compensator system is designed for a 10 MVA non-controlled rectifier load in a 10 kV power system.Simulation results show that the new type of static var compensator can suppress resonance between passive filter and the system with high harmonic compensation precision and fast response.The static var compensator is suitable for high voltage and high capacity reactive power and harmonic compensation application.

Abstract:In active power filter (APF) application, LCL-filters are prevalently served as output filters due to high slew rate of compensation current and sufficient attenuation ratio for switching frequency with small LC parameters. In order to realize the stable control of LCL filters, appropriate damping is required. Both the classical PI control method with a damping resistor and active damping without the power loss on damping resistor are feasible, while the former method will induce unacceptable power loss under high power condition and the latter one may increase the complexity of control strategy as well as weaken system's robustness. In this paper, a double-loop control strategy for a 380V/264 kVA system with an inner current loop and an external repetitive control loop is proposed. Systematic design approaches of the double-loop control scheme have been given in details. The simulation experiment results indicate that it obtains low power loss reduced greatly from 1.8 kW (0.68%) to 0.8 kW (0.3%) and high compensation-precision with the proposed control scheme.

Abstract:Influenced by the inductive reactive power demand of the wind turbine generators, transformers and lines, most of the exiting wind farms need install reactive power compensation devices. The contradiction between the cost and the compensation affect decides the selection of the compensation device. Thus, a hybrid reactive power compensation system which consists of capacitor banks and a STATCOM is proposed. At steady state, the proposed hybrid reactive power system can coordinate the capacitor banks and the STATCOM, compensate the reactive power of point of common coupling (PCC) dynamically and continuously, and improve the voltage quality of PCC effectively. At fault and recovery time, it can improve the voltage support capability of PCC, reduce the recovery time of voltage, and help the low voltage ride through (LVRT) of the wind farms. The principle and structure of the hybrid reactive power system were elaborated. The simulation result of a practical example shows that the study is effective and feasible.

Abstract:Aiming at the problem of reactive power overcompensation in the distribution network,a new compensation algorithm in which the power factor can be set randomly was deduced after studying current principles for unbalanced load compensation and modifying the compensation conditions of the Steinmetz principle. The algorithm supported by instantaneous reactive power theory,derives the general for mula of compensatory admittance. It can be used as the control strategy of static var compensator(SVC)to balance the three-phase active power;compensate loads to specified power factor and effectively prevent reactive power feeding inversely caused by overcompensation. Simu lation was carried out in the Matlab power system simulation environment. The results indicate that the proposed algorithm has high precision and good dynamic characteristics.
