Abstract:Multifunctional compounds with the capability to demonstrate more than one property represent one of the very intriguing materials. Herein, two triazine derivatives (H1 and H2) were designed and synthesized, and the structures of the target products were identified using 1H-NMR, MS and IR, which structures were further confirmed using the crystal data. They show mechanochromic stimuli-responsive properties, obvious high solvent discoloration behavior, thermally activated delayed fluorescence and the high quantum yields in the solid state. In addition, H1 and H2 also show “on-off-on” optical switch behavior because of the combined action of aggregation-induced emission and twisted intramolecular charge transfer. We preliminarily analyzed the reason for the high quantum yield of the solids from the crystal data. The mechanochromic properties of H1 and H2 were investigated systematically using fluorescence emission, X-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry and scanning electron microscopy. Density functional theory calculations explained the obvious solvent discoloration behavior. In addition, we fabricated four light-emitting diode devices using H1 and H2. Each device showed a different luminous color, and the yellow color purity of H1d and H2d were 84.6% and 91.9%.
