Abstract:Objective:To investigate the clinical outcome and side effects of intensity-modulated radiotherapy(IMRT) for the treatment of prostate cancer. Methods:The clinical data of 25 cases of prostate carcinoma treated with IMRT were retrospectively analyzed. The dose for 12 Prostate seminal vesicle 95% PTV was 70 Gy and 13 Prostate seminal vesicle 95% PTV was 78 Gy.The dose for pelvic lymph nodes was 50 Gy. Results:Among the 25 patients, 9patients were completely relieved, 8 partially relieved and 8 remained the same. The 1 and 3- year overall survival rate was100.0% and 96.0% respectively. GradeⅠand GradeⅡearly Gastrointestinal(GI) toxicity were found in 15and 9 patients respectively. GradeⅠand GradeⅡearly Genitourinary(GU)toxicity were found in 12 and 6 patients.GradeⅠand GradeⅡlate Gastrointestinal(GI) toxicity were found in 5 and 4 patients respectively. GradeⅠand GradeⅡearly Genitourinary(GU)toxicity were found in 3 and 3 patients. Conclusions:IMRT can increase the local dosage of radiation and decrease the biochemical recurrence in prostate cancer. The rate of toxicity of the surrounding tissues is low and patients can gain good tolerability and have quality life.
