In this paper, the Lax integrable hierarchies associated with an isospectral problem, which includes the AKNS, the KN and the WKI isospectral problem, are obtained.

Abstract:Starting from two matrix spectral problems associated with the real special orthogonal Lie algebra [Formula: see text], two non-isospectral hierarchies of Ablowitz–Kaup–Newell–Segur (AKNS) type and Kaup–Newell (KN) type are constructed. In addition, we enlarge the two spectral problems and then obtain non-isospectral [Formula: see text] integrable couplings of AKNS type and KN type by solving the expanded non-isospectral zero curvature equation. We find that the obtained four hierarchies have the bi-Hamiltonian structure of the combined form. It follows that all equations in the resulting soliton hierarchy are integrable in the sense of Liouville.

Abstract:We begin by introducing a non-isospectral Lax pair, from which we derive a non-isospectral integrable Kaup–Newell hierarchy. The new general solutions for the non-isospectral integrable Kaup–Newell hierarchy are obtained through the inverse scattering transform (IST) method. Finally, we obtain the soliton solutions of a reduced non-isospectral integrable equation from non-isospectral integrable Kaup–Newell hierarchy. For 1-soliton solution, we obtain the explicit expression and analyze the dynamical behavior of soliton solution; for 2-soliton solutions, we verify that collisions between soliton solutions are inelastic collisions. The significant difference of the paper from the works finished by other authors (such as Ning et al., 2004 [11,12]; Li et al., 2008, 2010, 2012) lies in except for the spectral parameter λ being higher order, not one-order of λ .

Abstract:In this Letter, by means of using discrete zero curvature representation and constructing opportune time evolution problems, two new discrete integrable lattice hierarchies with n-dependent coefficients are proposed, which relate to a new discrete Schrödinger nonisospectral operator equation. The relation of the two new lattice hierarchies with the Volterra hierarchy is discussed. It has been shown that one lattice hierarchy is equivalent to the positive Volterra hierarchy with n-dependent coefficients and another lattice hierarchy with isospectral problem is equivalent to the negative Volterra hierarchy. We demonstrate the existence of infinitely many conservation laws for the two lattice hierarchies and give the corresponding conserved densities and the associated fluxes formulaically. Thus their integrability is confirmed.

Abstract:Most integrable lattice systems come from lower order discrete spectral problems. In this paper, we consider an appropriate higher order discrete spectral problem. By the proper choice of time evolution equation and by using the semi-discrete zero curvature equation, Lax integrable lattice systems associated with the higher order discrete spectral problem are obtained. Their integrable discretizations are established.

Abstract:Reduced nonlocal matrix integrable modified Korteweg–de Vries (mKdV) hierarchies are presented via taking two transpose-type group reductions in the matrix Ablowitz–Kaup–Newell–Segur (AKNS) spectral problems. One reduction is local, which replaces the spectral parameter λ with its complex conjugate λ∗, and the other one is nonlocal, which replaces the spectral parameter λ with its negative complex conjugate −λ∗. Riemann–Hilbert problems and thus inverse scattering transforms are formulated from the reduced matrix spectral problems. In view of the specific distribution of eigenvalues and adjoint eigenvalues, soliton solutions are constructed from the reflectionless Riemann–Hilbert problems.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the (2+1)-dimensional discrete fourth-order nonisospectral problem. By using the Lax technique, three new (2+1)-dimensional nonisospectral four-field integrable lattice hierarchies are constructed. Their reductions yield three (1+1)-dimensional isospectral four-field integrable lattice hierarchies due to Mlaszak–Marciniak. We make a comparison between the (1+1)-dimensional discrete fourth-order nonisospectral problem and the third-order nonisospectral problem. We found that the integrable lattice hierarchies related to the discrete fourth-order nonisospectral problem have new characteristics.

Abstract:Staring from a new spectral problem, a hierarchy of the soliton equations is derived. It is shown that the associated hierarchies are infinite-dimensional integrable Hamiltonian systems. By the procedure of nonlinearization of the Lax pairs, the integrable decomposition of the whole soliton hierarchy is given. Further, we construct two integrable coupling systems for the hierarchy by the conception of semidirect sums of Lie algebras.

Abstract:In this Letter, by considering two new (2+1)-dimensional discrete linear spectral problems, new (2+1)-dimensional integrable lattice hierarchies are constructed. It is shown that the two new (2+1)-dimensional integrable lattice hierarchies are extensions (to nonisospectral and (2+1)-dimensional cases) of a (1+1)-dimensional 3-field lattice hierarchy of Zhang et al. and a (1+1)-dimensional 2-field lattice hierarchy due to Merola, Ragnisco and Tu. We also obtain new (1+1)-dimensional nonisospectral lattice hierarchies which include a nonisospectral relativistic Toda lattice hierarchy.

Abstract:A Lie algebra sl(2) which is isomorphic to the known Lie algebra A1 is introduced for which an isospectral Lax pair is presented, whose compatibility condition leads to a soliton-equation hierarchy. By using the trace identity, its Hamiltonian structure is obtained. Especially, as its reduction cases, a Sine equation and a complex modified KdV(cmKdV) equation are obtained,respectively. Then we enlarge the sl(2) into a bigger Lie algebra sl(4) so that a type of expanding integrable model of the hierarchy is worked out. However, the soliton-equation hierarchy is not integrable couplings. In order to generate the integrable couplings, an isospectral Lax pair is introduced. Under the frame of the zero curvature equation, we generate an integrable coupling whose quasi-Hamiltonian function is derived by employing the variational identity. Finally, two types of computing formulas of the constant γ are obtained, respectively.

Abstract:This paper aims to study an extended 4 × 4 AKNS eigenvalue problem and construct its affiliated integrable hierarchies of bi-Hamiltonian models over the real field. The Lax pair framework serves as the fundamental tool, ensuring integrability through bi-Hamiltonian structures with hereditary recursion operators. We compute illustrative examples of lower-order equations to demonstrate the affiliated integrable hierarchies.

Abstract:In this Letter we give a new integrable four-field lattice hierarchy, associated to a new discrete spectral problem. We obtain our hierarchy as the compatibility condition of this spectral problem and an associated equation, constructed herein, for the time-evolution of eigenfunctions. We consider reductions of our hierarchy, which also of course admit discrete zero curvature representations, in detail. We find that our hierarchy includes many well-known integrable hierarchies as special cases, including the Toda lattice hierarchy, the modified Toda lattice hierarchy, the relativistic Toda lattice hierarchy, and the Volterra lattice hierarchy. We also obtain here a new integrable two-field lattice hierarchy, to which we give the name of Suris lattice hierarchy, since the first equation of this hierarchy has previously been given by Suris. The Hamiltonian structure of the Suris lattice hierarchy is obtained by means of a trace identity formula.

Abstract:In this Letter, by means of considering matrix form of a new Schrödinger discrete spectral operator equation, and constructing opportune time evolution equations, and using discrete zero curvature representation, two discrete integrable lattice hierarchies proposed by Boiti et al. [J. Phys. A: Math. Gen. 36 (2003) 139] are re-derived. From the matrix Lax representations, we demonstrate the existence of infinitely many conservation laws for the two lattice hierarchies and give the corresponding conserved densities and the associated fluxes by means of formulae. Thus their integrability is further confirmed. Specially we obtain the infinitely many conservation laws for a new discrete version of the KdV equation. A connection between the conservation laws of the discrete KdV equation and the ones of the KdV equation is discussed by two examples.

Abstract:A new 4×4 isospectral problem with three potentials and the corresponding hierarchy of nonlinear evolution equations are presented. Especially, a new coupled KdV equation is produced. Their generalized bi-Hamiltonian structures are also investigated by using the trace identity. Moreover, a new finite-dimensional Hamiltonian system is given through the nonlinearization of the corresponding Lax pair. Enough conserved integrals, which are in involution and functionally independent, are created by the Lax operator to guarantee Liouville integrability of the Hamiltonian system.

Abstract:Starting from a more generalized discrete [Formula: see text] matrix spectral problem and using the Tu scheme, some integrable lattice hierarchies (ILHs) are presented which include the well-known relativistic Toda lattice hierarchy and some new three-field ILHs. Taking one of the hierarchies as example, the corresponding Hamiltonian structure is constructed and the Liouville integrability is illustrated. For the first nontrivial lattice equation in the hierarchy, the [Formula: see text]-fold Darboux transformation (DT) of the system is established basing on its Lax pair. By using the obtained DT, we generate the discrete [Formula: see text]-soliton solutions in determinant form and plot their figures with proper parameters, from which we get some interesting soliton structures such as kink and anti-bell-shaped two-soliton, kink and anti-kink-shaped two-soliton and so on. These soliton solutions are much stable during the propagation, the solitary waves pass through without change of shapes, amplitudes, wave-lengths and directions. Finally, we derive infinitely many conservation laws of the system and give the corresponding conserved density and associated flux formulaically.

Abstract:An approach is described to construct integrable hierarchies, their Lax operators and relevant algebraic structures for the given nonlinear integrable equations in 2+1 dimensions. The hierarchies consist of isospectral and non-isospectral flows and their Lax operators form an infinite dimensional Lie algebra—called the Lax algebra which in turn gives rise to the commutability and non-commutability of the flows and the algebraic structures for the symmetries and conserved quantities of each equations in the hierarchies. The so-called mastersymmetries of the given equations can also be derived straightforwards through the approach.
