Abstract:Hypercholesterolaemia contributes to atherosclerosis and coronary artery diseases by inducing endothelial cell injury and dysfunction. Recent studies have provided increasing evidence that EPCs (endothelial progenitor cells) participate in ongoing endothelial repair and postnatal neovascularization. However, the changes in EPCs in patients with hypercholesterolaemia have not been elucidated to date. Therefore we investigated the number and functional activity of EPCs in patients with hypercholesterolemia. Total MNCs (mononuclear cells) were isolated from 20 patients with hypercholesterolaemia and 20 matched control subjects. EPCs were characterized as adherent cells double-positive for DiI-LDL (1,1'-dioctadecyl-3,3,3',3'-tetramethylindocarbocyanide percholate-labelled low-density lipoprotein) uptake and lectin binding by direct fluorescent staining under a laser scanning confocal microscope, and were characterized further by demonstrating the expression of KDR (kinase insert domain-containing receptor), CD34 and AC133 by flow cytometry. Proliferation, migration and in vitro vasculogenesis activity of EPCs were assayed using the MTT [3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl-2H-tetrazolium bromide] assay, modified Boyden chamber assay and an in vitro vasculogenesis kit respectively. EPC adhesion assay was performed by replating cells on fibronectin-coated dishes and then counting the adherent cells. As a result, the number of EPCs was significantly reduced in patients with hypercholes-terolaemia compared with that in control subjects (41.8 +/- 8.7 compared with 64.5 +/- 16.6 EPCs/x 200 field respectively; P < 0.05). The number of EPCs was inversely correlated with total cholesterol (r = -0.659, P < 0.001) and LDL-cholesterol (r = -0.611, P < 0.001) levels. In addition, the functional activities of isolated EPCs, such as proliferative, migratory, adhesive and in vitro vasculogenesis capacity, were also impaired. In conclusion, the results of the present study may state a novel pathophysiological mechanism of hypercholesterolaemia: the reduction of EPCs with decreased functional activity.

Abstract:Background. Hyperhomocysteinemia (HHcy) contributes to atherosclerosis and coronary artery diseases by inducing endothelial cell injury and dysfunction. Recent studies provided increasing evidence that endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) participated in ongoing endothelial repair. The changes of EPCs in patients with HHcy have not yet been elucidated. Therefore, we investigated the number and functional activity of EPCs in patients with HHcy.Methods. Human EPCs were isolated and cultured from patients with HHcy (n = 30) and matched volunteers (n = 30). Circulating EPCs were enumerated as ACl33(+)KDR(+) cells via fluorescence-activated cell sorter analysis. Additionally, EPC were expanded from human blood in vitro and identified by Dil-acLDL uptake and lectin staining by direct fluorescent stainina under a laser scanning confocal microscope. EPC migration activities were determined by modified Boyden chamber assay. EPC adhesion assay was performed by replating cells on fibronectin-coated dishes and then counting adherent cells.Results. A significant decrease was observed in circulating EPC (AC133(+)KDR(+) cells) numbers in patients with HHcy compared with control subjects (63.9 +/- 11.7 cells/mL vs. 91.5 +/- 14.2 cells/mL blood, p <0.01). In addition, the numbers of EPCs also decreased in patients with HHcy after ex vivo cultivation (36.1 +/- 6.5 vs. 51.5 +/- 8.3 EPCs/X200 field, p <0.01). Both circulating EPCs and differentiated EPCs were inversely correlated with total homocysteine levels. In addition, EPCs from patients with HHcy were significantly impaired in their migratory capacity and ability to adhere to fibronectin compared with controls.Conclusions. Abstract:In this paper, Figure 2 was used to illustrate that the cultured cells were endothelial progenitor cells, which only demonstrated that the method of isolation and cultivation of endothelial progenitor cells was feasible in the study. They were not used to evaluate the number and functional activity of endothelial progenitor cells. The number of endothelial progenitor cells per well was counted manually in 15 randomly selected high-power fields (×200) with an inverted fluorescent microscope by two or three independent investigators. So, these figures were neither used to investigate the effects of different empirical factors on endothelial progenitor cells. The authors wish to express that a clear description of the purposes of these figures was never fully disclosed. Abstract:Objective To observe the effects of oxidative low density lipoprotein (ox LDL) on number and function of endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) from peripheral blood. Methods Total mononuclear cells (MNC) were isolated from peripheral blood by Ficoll density gradient centrifugation, and then the cells were plated on fibronectin coated culture dishes. After incubation for 7 days, attached cells were collected and stimulated with different cencentrations of ox LDL (25, 50, 100 and 200 μg/ml), native LDL (100 μg/ml) or vehicle control for different time (6, 12, 24 and 48 h). EPC were characterized and adherent cells which were double positive for DiLDL uptake and lectin binding by direct fluorescent staining were observed under a laser scanning confocal microscope. EPC were further identified by demonstrating the expression of CD34, VEGFR 2 and AC133 with flow cytometry. Proliferation, migration and in vitro vasculogenesis activity of EPC were assayed by MTT assay, modified Boyden chamber assay and in vitro vasculogenesis kit, respectively. EPC adhesion assay was performed by replating those on fibronectin coated dishes, then adherent cells were counted. Results Incubation of isolated human MNC with ox LDL decreased the number of EPC in a concentration dependent manner, being maximum at 200 μg/ml (approximately 70% reduction, P0.01). In time course experiments performed with a concentration of 100 μg/ml ox LDL, the decrease of EPC number became apparent at 12 h and the maximal decrease was at 24 h (approximately 50% reduction, P0.01). In addition, ox LDL impaired proliferative, migratory, adhesive and in vitro vasculogenesis capacities of EPC in dose and time dependent manners. Conclusion Incubation of EPC with ox LDL reduces the number of EPC and impaires their function.
Changes of Circulating Endothelial Progenitor Cells in Patients with Coronary Heart Diseases Before and after Percutaneous Coronary Intervention

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To compare circulating endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) number between normal controls and patients with coronary heart diseases (CHD), and to explore the influence of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) on the number of EPCs in patients with CHD. METHODS:A total of 48 hospitalized patients with CHD were enrolled and divided into three groups, including stable angina pectoris (SAP) group, unstable angina pectoris (UA) group, acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) group. Patients with normal coronary angiography served as controls. The percentage of EPCs in peripheral blood nucleated cells was measured at admission and immediately after and 24 hours after PCI in CHD patients by double-color flow cytometry analysis. EPCs were identified with CD133(+)/VEGFR-2(+). RESULTS:At admission, the percentage of EPCs in peripheral blood nucleated cells was significantly lower in SAP group (0.043% +/- 0.043%), UA group (0.014% +/- 0.018%) and STEMI group (0.040% +/- 0.036%)than that in the control group (0.111% +/- 0.078%, all P < 0.01). The number of EPCs in UA group was significantly lower than that in the SAP group (P < 0.05). In the UA group, the number of EPCs at 24 hours after PCI (0.054% +/- 0.045%) was significantly higher than before operation (0.014% +/- 0.018%, P < 0.01) and tended to be higher than the value immediately after PCI (0.028% +/- 0.041%, P > 0.05). The before and after PCI EPCs numbers were similar in SAP and STEMI groups (all P > 0.05). CONCLUSION:The number of peripheral EPCs in patients with CHD is lower than that in normal subjects and negatively related with severity of coronary heart disease. The number of circulating EPCs increased post PCI in patients with unstable angina pectoris.
Adiponectin Levels Are Associated with the Number and Activity of Circulating Endothelial Progenitor Cells in Patients with Coronary Artery Disease

Abstract:To study the relationship between plasma adiponectin concentration and the functional activities of circulating endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD).Circulating EPCs were enumerated as AC133(+)/KDR+ cells via flow cytometry and identified by co-staining with DiI-acLDL and fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC)-conjugated lectin under a fluorescent microscope. The migratory capacity of EPCs was measured by modified Boyden chamber assay. Adhesion capacity was performed to count adherent cells after replating EPCs on six-well culture dishes coated with fibronectin.The number of circulating EPCs (AC133(+)/KDR+ cells) decreased significantly in CAD patients, compared with control subjects [(74.2 +/- 12.3) vs (83.5 +/- 12.9) cells/ml blood, P < 0.01]. In addition, the number of EPCs also decreased in CAD patients after ex vivo cultivation [(54.4 +/- 8.6) vs (71.9 +/- 11.6) EPCs/field, P < 0.01]. Both circulating EPCs and differentiated EPCs were positively correlated with plasma adiponectin concentration. The functional activities of EPCs from CAD patients, such as migratory and adherent capacities, were also impaired, compared with control subjects, and positively correlated with plasma adiponectin concentration.The study demonstrates that the impairment of the number and functional activities of EPCs in CAD patients is correlated with their lower plasma adiponectin concentrations.
Vascular endothelial growth factor on function of endothelial progenitor cells from peripheral blood

Abstract:AIM: To investigate the effect of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) on the biological function of peripheral endothelial progenitor cells(EPCs) and to find the suitable concentration to promote the growth of EPCs.METHODS: Total mononuclear cells(MNCs) were isolated from peripheral blood by density gradient centrifugation,and then the cells were plated on fibronectin-coated culture dishes.After culture for 4 days,attached cells were incubated with VEGF in a series of concentrations(0,10,20 and 50 μg/L) for 72 h,then attached cells were characterized with immunohistochemistry.EPC proliferation and migration activity were assayed with MTT assay and modified Boyden chamber assay,respectively.EPC adhesion assay was performed by replating MNCs on fibronectin-coated dishes,and then the adherent cells were counted.RESULTS: The EPCs from MNCs were successfully isolated and were differentiated to endothelial cells(ECs).Incubation of isolated human MNCs with VEGF increased the proliferative,migratory and adhesive capacities of EPCs,and this effect was most prominent when the concentration of VEGF was 20 μg/L after 72 hours.At the same concentration of VEGF,the functions of EPCs from patients with masculine coronary arteriography were lower than those of EPCs from patients with negative coronary arteriography.CONCLUSION: Functional activities of EPCs are decreased in patients with masculine coronary arteriography.The results suggest that the low concentration of VEGF may improve functional activities of EPCs.

Abstract:[Objective] To investigate the changes in the number and funcional activity of endothelial progenitor cells(EPCs) from peripheral blood in patients with stable angina pectoris(SA) and the influence of cardiovascular risk factors on it.[Methods] Mononuclear cells were isolated by density-gradient centrifugation from 20 old patients with stable angina pectoris and 20 age-matched controls.Immediately after isolation,mononuclear cells were plated on 24-well culture dishes coated with human fibronectin.Flow cytometry was used to identify EPCs. In addition,dual-stained cells positive for both FITC-UEA-Ⅰ and DiLDL were judged to be EPCs,and they were counted.EPCs adhesive,migratory and vasculogenesis capacity were assayed by adhesion assay,modified Boyden chamber and In Vitro Angiogenesis Assay.[Results] Human EPCs from old patients with stable angina pectoris exhibit decreased numbers and impaired adhesion,migratory and incorporation into vascular structures.The number of EPCs from SA group inversely correlated with systolic pressure and fasting plasma glucose level.[Conclusions] The old patients with stable angina pectoris have decreased numbers of circulating EPCs with impaired functional activity.The decreased number correlates with hypertension and diabetes.

Abstract:Objective To investigate alterations of endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) from peripheral blood in patients with cyanotic congenital heart diseases.Methods 20 ml venous blood was obtained from patients with tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) and ventricular septal defect (VSD).The mononuclear cells were isolated by Ficoll density gradient centrifugation and cultured in Medium 199 containing 20 % fetal bovine serum (FBS) and bovine pituitary exrtract (BPE) for expansion and differentiation.The expression of EPC-specific antigens on cell surface,such as CD133,KDR,CD34,CD31 and vWF were analyzed by immunocytochemistry after 10 days.Cultured cells were further characterized by uptake of Dil-AcLDL,lectin staining by UEA-1,and flow cytometry for quantification of CD133+/KDR+ cells. Transmission electron microscopy was used to identify distinctive organelles of EPCs,namely immature mitochondria and weibel-Palade bodies.Modified Boyden chamber assay and MTT assay was used to measure the migration and proliferation of EPCs.The adhesion assay was performed by replating on fibronectin-coated dishes and then quantifying the number of adherent cells.Results The number of EPCs was significantly increased in patients with TOF compared with that of control subjects [Colony numbers (14.7±3.1) vs.8.2±1.3]/×100 field,DiI-AcLDL+/UEA-I+ (72.2±9.7) vs.(51.2±3.8)/×200 field,CD133+/KDR+ cells (0.66±0.20)% vs.(0.18±0.08)%,P＜0.01).The functional activity of EPCs such as proliferation [Optical Density (OD) value 0.34±0.02 vs. 0.27±0.01],migration[(140.6±9.2) vs.(91.8±8.6)/×200 field)] and adhesive capacity [(149.0±11.6)vs.(112.6±7.0)/×200 field)] was also significantly higher in patients with TOF.Conclusion EPC quantity and functional activity are significantly increased in patient with cyanotic congenital heart diseases.
Changes of Circulating Endothelial Progenitor Cells and Their Clinical Significance in Patients with Acute Cerebral Infarction

Abstract:Objective To investigate the changes of circulating endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) in patients with acute cerebral infarction or chronic cerebral ischemia and discuss the related clinical significance.Methods Circulating EPCs were isolated using staining markers of CD34,CD133,and kinase insert domain receptor (KDR).Peripheral venous blood was collected from patients with acute cerebral infarction within 24 hours of onset (infarction group,n =30),with chronic cerebral ischemia (ischemia group,n =20),and without cerebral ischemia (control group,n =10) to quantify circulating level of EPCs using flow cytometry and measure parameters of systolic pressure,glycosylated hemoglobin (HbAlc),total cholesterol (TC),and triglyceride (TG),and low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C),and high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C).Results CD34-,CD34/CD133-,and CD34/KDR-positive cells counted (14.2 ± 8.1)‰,(7.1 ± 4.1)‰ and (5.0 ± 3.7)‰ in infarction group,(28.5 ± 9.9)‰,(15.2 ± 3.7)‰ and (6.8 ± 2.0)‰ in ischemia group,and (44.8 ± 9.5) ‰,(22.1 ± 6.6) ‰ and (16.7 ± 6.9) ‰ in control group.Taken together,circulating level of EPCs lowered substantially in infarction and ischemia groups compared to control group (P ＜ 0.05) and a far lower level was observed in infarction group (P ＜ 0.05).Circulating level of EPCs in infarction group was in a moderate negative correlation with systolic pressure,TC,TG,and LDL-C (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions Decreased circulating level of EPCs may be a risk factor to the development of cerebral ischemia in acute cerebral infarction patients.Therefore,level of EPCs is vital for prediction,prevention and treatment of acute cerebral infarction.
Relationship Between Endothelial Progenitor Cells and Endothelial Function in Coronary Heart Disease Patients

Abstract:Objective: To study the relationship between endothelial function and the number and activity of endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) in coronary heart disease patients. Methods:Eleven patients with stable angina(SA) ,27with unstable angina(UA) and 20 controls were studied. Flow-mediated dilation(FMD) and nitroglycerin-mediated dilation(NMD) of brachial artery were evaluated by high-resolution ultrasound. Total mononuclear cells (MNCs) were isolated from peripheral blood by Ficoll density gradient centrifugation, and plated on hu-manfibronectin coated plates. Seven days of culture, EPCs were identified as adherent cells by double staining FITC-UEA-I binding and DiI-acLDL uptake under a laser scanning confocal fluorescence microscope. EPCs proliferation and migration activity were detected with MTT assay and modified Boyden chamber assay, respectively. EPCs adhesion assay was performed by replating MNCs on the humanfibronectin coated plates,and the adherent cells were counted. Results :(1)FMD was obviously lower in both SA group and UA group than that in control group (P 0. 05 ;P 0. 01) . It was lower in UA patients than in SA patients(P 0. 05). NMD was similar in the three groups( P 0. 05). (2)The number of EPCs was significantly reduced in UA and SA patients compared with the controls(P 0. 01). In addition, EPCs proliferative, migratory and adhesive capacity were also impaired( P 0. 01) . There was no significant difference in the number and migratory activity of EPCs between UA and SA groups( P 0. 05) , but EPCs adheresive and proliferative function was reduced in UA group compared with SA group( P 0. 05). (3)here was a positive association between FMD versus the number and proliferative, migratory and adhesive capacity of EPCs in the UA group( P 0. 05 ). There was a positive association between mere EPCs adhesive capacity and FMD in the SA group( P 0. 05). Conclusion: The number of EPCs is decreased and EPCs dysfunction is inversely associated with impaired endothelium-de-pendent function, which suggests that endothelial injury in the deficient circulating EPCs may affect the severity of the heart disorder and the clinical presentations.

Abstract:AIM:To compare the number of circulating smooth muscle progenitor cells(SPCs) between normal controls and patients with coronary heart disease(CHD) and to explore the influence of percutaneous coronary(PCI) on the SPC number in CHD patients.METHODS:A total of 33 hospitalized male CHD patients were enrolled and divided into three groups,including stable angina pectoris(SAP) group and unstable angina pectoris(UA) group.Patients with normal coronary angiography served as controls.The percentage of SPCs in peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMCs) was measured at admission and 72 h after PCI in CHD patients by double-color flow cytometry analysis.SPCs were identified with CD14+/CD105+.RESULTS:At admission,the percentage of SPCs in PBMCs was significantly higher in SAP group(0.20±0.13)% and UA group(0.28±0.18)% than in control group [(0.12±0.10)%,all P<0.01].The number of SPCs in UA group was significantly higher than in the SAP group(P<0.01).In the UA group,the number of SPCs at 72 h after PCI(0.34±0.25)% was significantly higher than before operation [(0.28±0.18)%,P<0.01] and tended to be higher than the value immediately after PCI.CONCLUSION:Stent implantation may induce the mobilization of bone marrow-derived smooth muscle progenitor cells.The number of peripheral SPCs in CHD patients is lower than in normal subjects and is negatively related with the severity of coronary heart disease.The number of circulating SPCs increases post-PCI in patients with UA.

Abstract:Objective:To investigate the function of endothelial progenitor cells(EPCs)from peripheral blood of atherosclerosis of the carotid artery patient and study the role of EPCs in the development of atherosclerosis of the carotid.Methods:EPCs isolated from human peripheral blood of atherosclerosis of the carotid artery patient(n=20)and age-matched control subjects(n=20).Cytochemical analysis was conducted after 7days culture.EPCs were characterized as Dil-acLDL/FITC-UEA-1 double positive cell detected by laser confocalmicroscopy.EPCs adhesion assay was performed by replating those on fibronectin-coated dishes,then adherent cells were counted.The migration capcity of EPCs was determined by modified Boyden chamber.And in vitro vasculogenesis activity was assayed in vitro vasculogenesis kit.ResutsThe functional activities of EPCs such as migration,adhesion,in vitro vasculogenesis activity were significantly impaired in atherosclerosis of the carotid artery patient.Conclusion:These findings suggest that atherosclerosis of the catotid artery may alter EPCs biology,which may be play an impotant role in the devolpment of angiopathy.EPCs dysfunction may be a marker of the possibility to devolope angiopathy.

Abstract:Objective To investigate the number and function of bone marrow-derived endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) in atherosclerotic rats, and study the role of EPCs in the development of atherosclerosis. Methods Twenty rats were enrolled with atherosclerosis (n=10) and free from atherosclerosis (n=10). Mononuclear cells were harvested from bone marrow and inoculated on the culture plate. Cytochemical analysis was conducted after 7-day culture. EPCs were characterized as DiI-acLDL/FITC-UEA-I double positive cell detected by laser confocal microscopy. The migration function of EPCs was determined by Boyden chamber. The adherent function of EPCs was determined by counting the number of recultured EPCs. Results The number of EPCs was significantly reduced in the atherosclerotic rats. The functional activities of EPCs such as migration and adhesion were also impaired in atherosclerotic rats. Conclusion The reduction of the number and the hypofunction of migration and adhesion in EPCs are correlated with the pathogenesis and development of atherosclerosis.
Circulating Endothelial Progenitor Cells, C-Reactive Protein and Severity of Coronary Stenosis in Chinese Patients with Coronary Artery Disease

Abstract:We sought to investigate whether numbers and activity of circulating endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) correlate with severity of coronary stenosis as well as cardiovascular risk factors in patients with stable coronary artery disease (CAD). Number of circulating EPCs was analyzed in 104 consecutive patients with proven or clinically suspected CAD. Adhesive and migratory activity was also determined. The number of EPCs was lower in patients with a single diseased coronary artery (Group II, n =35, p <0.05 vs . Group I) or multiple diseased arteries (Group III, n =25, p <0.01 vs . Group I, p <0.05 vs . Group II) compared to those with normal coronary arteries (Group I, n =44). The number of EPCs was also related with angiographic Gensini score ( r =−0.355, p =0.006). In addition, concentrations of C-reactive protein (CRP) were elevated in patients with CAD, and positively correlated with Gensini score ( r =0.476, p =0.001). As for the risk factors, the number of EPCs was also inversely correlated with age ( p =0.001), high sensitivity-CRP ( p =0.012), hypertension ( p =0.042) and family history of CAD ( p =0.043). Most importantly, the migratory capacity of EPCs was compromised in patients with CAD, and inversely correlated with the angiographic Gensini score ( r =−0.315, p =0.021). EPCs isolated from patients with CAD also showed an impaired adhesive activity ( p <0.05). In conclusion, in patients with stable CAD, reduction in the number and impairment in the function of circulating EPCs were correlated with the severity of coronary stenosis. CRP may play an important role in reducing the number of EPCs and accelerating atherosclerosis. Given the important role of EPCs in neovascularization of ischemic tissue, a decrease in the number and activity of EPCs may contribute to the impaired vascularization in patients with CAD.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To investigate whether the number of circulating endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) correlate with the severity of coronary stenosis in patients with stable coronary artery disease (CAD).METHODS:80 consecutive patients who underwent coronary angiography (exclusion of acute coronary syndrome and myocardial infarction) were enrolled. Physical examination and blood tests were performed to assess the disease severity and cardiovascular risk factors. Circulating EPCs as measured by the number of CD133/KDR double positive cells were detected by FACS.RESULTS:The number of EPCs inversely correlated with age, creatinine clearance (Ccr) and left ventricular mass index (LVMI) (P = 0.004, 0.015, 0.014 respectively). Patients with hypertension showed significant reduction in number of EPCs compared to those without hypertension (P = 0.004). Moreover, the number of EPCs in patients with coronary artery disease was significantly lower than that of those with normal coronary artery (P < 0.01). EPCs also inversely correlated with angiographic Gensini score (n = 49, r = -0.305, P = 0.039).CONCLUSIONS:In patients with stable CAD, the numbers of circulating EPCs correlate with the severity of CAD as well as cardiovascular risk factors.
Influence of Atorvastatin on Number of Endothelial Progenitor Cells in Peripheral Blood in Patients with Different Types of Coronary Heart Disease

Abstract:Objective: To study influence of atorvastatin on number of endothelial progenitor cells(EPCs) in peripheral blood in patients with different types of coronary heart disease(CHD).Methods:A total of 127 CHD patients were divided into acute myocardial infarction(AMI) + percutaneous coronary intervention group(group A,n=45),AMI + conservative treatment group(group B,n=29),unstable angina pectoris group(group C,n=31) and stable angina pectoris group(group D,n=22).All above patients received atorvastatin therapy after admission.Another 30 no-CHD patients were regard as no-CHD control group and they no received atorvastatin.All patients were taken blood sample instant,14d and 30d after admission for measurement of number of EPCs marked by CD133 in peripheral blood.Results:There were expression of EPCs(CD133) in peripheral blood of CHD patients and no-CHD control group.Compared with instant after admission,there were significant increase of EPCs(CD133) in CHD patients on 14d and 30d [group A:(0.015±0.016)% vs.(0.411±0.361)% vs.(0.472±0.384)%,group B:(0.009±0.010)% vs.(0.250±0.031)% vs.(0.413±0.035)%,group C:(0.421±0.814)% vs.(1.065±2.014)% vs.(1.325±2.321)%,group D:(1.387±0.021)% vs.(2.153±0.167)% vs.(3.052±0.086)%]after atorvastatin therapy,P0.05 all;there were no significant change of expression of EPCs(CD133) in no-CHD control group on 14d and 30d(P0.05).Conclusion: Atorvastatin can increase number of endothelial progenitor cells in peripheral blood of patients with coronary heart disease.
