The Obama Administration's Trade policy toward China and Sino-US Economic and Trade Relations

Abstract:With the Obama administration coming into power and the 111th congress taking over legislative,agenda of U.S. trade policy toward China has become focus of attention. In general,the Obama administration will support free trade and continue to promote stability and development in Sino-US economic and trade relations. The new administration's trade policy toward China,however,will be based on the ideology of pragmatism. In comparison,the legislative agenda of the 111th congress will sail into a cycle of protectionism. Hence,the new administration's trade policy toward China will lie both in the extent of bilateral economic disequilibrium and in the extent of conveigence of basic strategic goals and the seriousness of conflicts.
