Abstract:To investigate the molecular mechanism of floral development of the complex and special Phalaenopsis flower,an 834 bp cDNA fragment was isolated from the total RNA of Phalaenopsis petals by RT-PCR.It shows 58% amino acid sequence identity with PISTILLATA from Arabidopsis,and was named pPI9.The deduced amino acid sequence has a complete MADS-box domain in the N-terminal and a PI-motif in the C-terminal.The results of semi-quantitative PCR showed that it only expressed in the reproductive organs,which suggested that it was probably involved in the regulation of floral morphogenesis.
