Abstract:It is true that no single method of treatment from any schools can satisfy the needs of all clients and apply to all psychological problems and situations.The rise of the integrative movement,to some extent,broke the individualistic manacles of the fractions,eliminated the discrimination among different schools,promoted their communications and dialogues.The study of Adler's psychotherapy can help us discover those important contributions overlooked in the past that there has been a close relationship between Adler's psychotherapy and contemporary practice.Adler's psychotherapy,cognitive therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy share a great deal of common ground,such as attention to the conceptual framework of the client,with the present--oriented method.All Adler's psychotherapy and cognitive therapy lay great emphasis on it.It is important to understand the patients within their own conceptual framework.The view of Adler is that expectations and aspirations of future as a current center to a large extent determine the way people recall the past and act in the present.Cognitive therapy also concerns the feelings of the client.Adler's psychotherapy,constructivist psychotherapy and social constructivist psychotherapy all have achieved apparent resonance in such aspects as view of reality,principles of treatment,and social cultural origin of psychological development.The Adlerian and the constructivist theories agree that human perception renders external reality or truth subjective and only approximately knowable.The Adler theory and constructivist theory assert that humans are to construct their own personality and subsequently the creative motivation for themselves and others and the perception and interpretation of the world.Adler and constructivism emphasize that it is important that a person,as an active and motivated agent,creatively and routinely participates in the construction of her own psychological world.In addition,Adler is one of the earliest advocates of short-range treatment or time-limit treatment,and his psychotherapy clearly bears typical characteristics of short-term therapy.About the therapeutic alliance,Adler's attitude is similar to the SFBC's(solution-focused brief counseling).For Adler,a firm relationship between the consultant and the client is developed when the therapist plays an exemplary role in social interests.Adlerians think that encouragement is a vital aspect in human growth and development.He believes that encouragement is an important factor in psychotherapy.Adler' psychotherapy pays attention to understanding the client.Adler thinks that psychotherapy is an educational process,in which the key of psychological therapy is to develop a new social interest of the client.SFBC consultants also try to discover and develop these advantages,talents and strengths of the client,which are invisible to the client because she focuses on her own problems and limitations.It can be concluded that the psychological therapy of Adler is such a comprehensive theory that it can withstand the test of time.He performed a pragmatic conceptualization processing of human behavior,and innovated procedures that integrated many valuable opinions in contemporary psychotherapy theory.Adler' psychotherapy is closely related with contemporary practice,because Adler's therapy is a present-oriented,time-limited,integrative and eclectic psychological method.
