Abstract:Accounting conservatism is often explained as quicker react to "bad news" than to "good news." This explanation implies that there exist systematic differences between bad news and good news in the timeliness of earnings. Using data from corporations listed in China′s A stock market, this paper finds that the coefficient and adjusted R2 of earnings to negative returns is larger than that of earnings to positive returns. The result is useful for the financial analysis and accounting regulations.
