Abstract:Landscape design for a green community should be favorable for the ambient ecological environment and for enhancement of both the local climate of a residential area and the environmental quality of life. This paper presents optimization methods for plant landscape design that take account of results of comparisons of noise reduction effects, heat island temperature decreases and effects on ventilation. These methods are based on different plant configurations and various luminous environments, such as exterior sunshine and shaded areas after the simulation of exterior luminous, acoustic and thermal environments of a residential area using the analytic software ECOTECT, CADNA/A, and PHEONICS. Three different types of residential buildings are simulated including a faculty apartment in the Xixi Campus of Zhejiang University, the Huaqing Villa and the Gangwan Jiayuan faculty apartment of Zhejiang University, China, based on green building design theory. In addition, the methods and process flow of landscape design of green residential areas are also described for the improvement of the exterior physical living environment.

Abstract:Architecture design for green building should be favorable to positive cycle of ambient ecological environment and enhancement of both the local climate and high living environmental quality. The paper presents the optimization methods of architecture in accordance with the results of environment simulation of noise reduction effects and influence on ventilation. In the case of a middle school's design, there are contradictions in solving the problems of noise and ventilation. With adjustments of design and continuous simulations, paper achieves best results. In addition, the paper conducts an indoor luminous environment simulation for classroom, finding problems in usual design method and proposes optimal solutions.

Abstract:In order to study the design strategy for rural green building which decrease energy consume and improve the environment quality,the rural buildings in Baisui Fang,Fengshui Town,Tonglu Xian,Zhejiang was especially selected as the research object.Based on the site investigation,and the statistics of questionnaires with the help of spss,living conditions & working-resting styles are analyzed in this paper.According to topography,climate,a design combined with local rural feature and energy-saving measures is put forward.With the verification of the software by ecotect sunshine,pkpm energy-saving,this design is proved to save energy by 78.6%,and be more suitable for living.

Abstract:This paper investigates the primary contents of such an assessment system with the lens of material flow analysis,and finally identifies five critical factors that a green building assessment system is expected to possess: the assessment system should be ( 1) carried out in all phases throughout the whole life cycle of buildings; ( 2) emphasize on different contents referring to building types; ( 3) consider regional differences in terms of climate,resource and environment; ( 4) treat a building with respect to life-cycle cost; and ( 5) be updated continuously. This paper is a summary of a pilot study,which attempts to build an assessment system for green building based on the current situation and the future direction of China.

Abstract:With the burgeoning emphasis on sustainable construction practices in China, the demand for green building assessment has significantly escalated. The overall evaluation process comprises two key components: The acquisition of evaluation data and the evaluation of green scores, both of which entail considerable time and effort. Previous research predominantly concentrated on automating the latter process, often neglecting the exploration of automating the former in accordance with the Chinese green building assessment system. Furthermore, there is a pressing requirement for more streamlined management of structured standard knowledge to facilitate broader dissemination. In response to these challenges, this paper presents a conceptual framework that integrates building information modeling, ontology, and web map services to augment the efficiency of the overall evaluation process and the management of standard knowledge. More specifically, in accordance with the Assessment Standard for Green Building (GBT 50378-2019) in China, this study innovatively employs visual programming software, Dynamo in Autodesk Revit, and the application programming interface of web map services to expedite the acquisition of essential architectural data and geographic information for green building assessment. Subsequently, ontology technology is harnessed to visualize the management of standard knowledge related to green building assessment and to enable the derivation of green scores through logical reasoning. Ultimately, a residential building is employed as a case study to validate the theoretical and technical feasibility of the developed automated evaluation conceptual framework for green buildings. The research findings hold valuable utility in providing a self-assessment method for applicants in the field.

Abstract:ABSTRACT Green building product designs, which interact directly and extensively with building users through active operation (e.g., operating of a solar shade, windows, light switch) and/or aesthetic or creative features of the designs (e.g., decorations showing sustainability concepts), represent a critical link between users and buildings. Yet, the user-design interaction has received little attention in the green building design practices as shown from existing green building rating systems, which rely largely on scores obtained from simulation models without incorporating the human factor, leading to unsatisfactory performance. In this paper, we identify three factors which are important in the user-design interaction: 1) “usability” for measuring the utilitarian purposes fulfilled by product design for a green building; 2) “teachability” for evaluating the effectiveness of using a green building product design as a teaching medium; and 3) spatial configuration for assessing the spatial layout of products designed for promoting usability and teachability. Selection, weighting, and measurement of indicators for each aspect are developed through literature review, Delphi survey and analytic hierarchy process. A software tool is developed for data entry, processing, and visualization which can be adopted by the design community following two hypothetical case studies.

Abstract:In this paper,first,three assessment systems for green building,namely the LEED(USA) and GOBAS(China) are compared with CASBEE(Japan) in respect of central concepts,mark of evaluation and result of assessment.It is expected that this research of assessment systems could be helpful to designers of architecture in different specialties.Secondly,in this paper these three assessment systems are analyzed from the position of design work.In the end,it is pointed out that to compile a design-oriented handbook for green building design is the new domain of the assessment system for green building.

Abstract:The Green Building concept is very popular worldwide. The adverse impact of construction on the environment significantly promotes the development of the green building concept worldwide. Green buildings are generally termed as environmentally friendly buildings. Therefore, over the past several decades, there have been many green building rating tools developed by institutions to evaluate these buildings. However, a majority of the green buildings certified with these rating tools are assessed primarily on their design and construction. The life-cycle of a green building extends beyond these initial phases, with its full benefits becoming more apparent during the operational stages of the building. However, there is a clear lack of green building projects obtaining green certificates that evaluate the operational stages of the building. Therefore, this research aims to identify the barriers preventing the certification of green buildings in their operational stages. Initially, commonly used international green building rating tools were identified and analysed on the evaluation criteria. Following this analysis, Chinese standards on green building evaluation were also discussed in detail. Furthermore, a case study building with three-star certification for the operational stage was incorporated into the analysis. This case study building was analysed with the Chinese standards, namely Chinese evaluation standard green building (ESGB) 2014, along with other international standards such as the Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design Leadership (LEED), the Building Research Establishment's Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM), and Green Star. Structured interviews were also carried out to identify the barriers, while measures to overcome these barriers were also discussed. The inconsistency of government regulations, the inability of the market to protect developers' interests, and the inability to meet technical requirements were identified as the three main barriers.

Abstract:The design of architecture scheme is the decision-making stage for the whole design process,applying the simulation instrument during the scheme design period could achieve the building energy efficiency from the beginning.In this paper,the scheme design program,the requirements for the architects and the building information that could be obtained were analyzed.In addition,the characteristics of the scheme design were summerized.Based on this,the framework and work flow for simulation-aided energy-saving scheme design was established,and the function demands for this simulated tool were discussed.

Abstract:The promotion of green strategy in housing development has significant contribution to the implementation of sustainable development principles. Why do the housing developers go for green? This paper examines the benefits and barriers in applying green strategies in the process of housing development and facilities management. The examination is conducted from the whole process of developing a housing project, including project plan and design, construction, and operation and management stages. It is considered by the housing developers that the application of certain types of green strategies can help contribute to building up developers’ competitive advantages, such as solar system and optimizing building envelope thermal performance technology. The four case studies suggest that housing developers believe that the application of these green technologies can contribute to reputation gaining, reduction in construction and operation cost, receiving favorable land prices, and more channels available for financing. On the other hand, the major barriers affecting the application of the green strategies in housing development process have also been identified, such as higher cost for green appliance and higher cost in relation to customers’ demand. Data used for analysis are collected from a comprehensive questionnaire survey and four constructive case studies within the Chinese housing development market.

Abstract:Prevailing computational tools available to and used by architecture and engineering professionals purport to gather and present thorough and accurate perspectives of the environmental impacts associated with their contributions to the built environment. The presented research of building modeling and analysis software used by the Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and Operations (AECO) industry reveals that many of the most heavily relied-upon industry tools are isolated in functionality, utilize incomplete models and data, and are disruptive to normative design and building optimization workflows. This paper describes the current models and tools, their primary functions and limitations, and presents our concurrent research to develop more advanced models to assess lifetime building energy consumption alongside operating energy use. A series of case studies describes the current state-of-the-art in tools and building energy analysis followed by the research models and novel design and analysis Tool that the Green Scale Research Group has developed in response. A fundamental goal of this effort is to increase the use and efficacy of building impact studies conducted by architects, engineers, and building owners and operators during the building design process.

Abstract:Sustainability is defined in a way to remind people of taking account of the current actual local situations of their own place. Based on the actual situations of China and a wide analysis of the main characteristics of green building assessment systems, some key issues about the GBAS (Green Building Assessment System) for China are discussed here. Firstly, the evaluation criteria selection for Chinese green building is discussed. Regional differences are well considered when selecting item and setting index. Secondly, the relationship for Q-L evaluation method in CASBEE and GOBAS is pointed out and improvements are presented. Thirdly, the establishment of a scientifically weighting coefficient system (WCS) with AHP plus Delphi method is studied here, and the final weight coefficients are optimized with sensibility analysis. Finally, the development for adaptability for different users and different areas is presented. This research and evaluation works are valuable for the development of green buildings in China.

First, the author indicates major passive climatic design strategies and steps to realize them from the pre-design phase. Then specific methods of integrated green design towards architecture are multi-faceted analyzed from the levels such as urban planning, architecture design and detail design. Abstract:Green building materials have brought fundamental changes to the traditional construction methods, enabling better environmental protection and energy-saving performance of the buildings. However, due to the various material types and the large property differences, until now there isn’t a uniform evaluation index system (EIS) for green building materials, the existing studies on the green-level evaluation of green building materials during production and use are insufficient, and the research on energy-saving design is just getting started. For this reason, this paper attempted to launch a research on the multi-objective energy-saving optimization design of buildings based on the application of green building materials. First, the quantification method for the environmental impact factors of green building materials was elaborated, and the intervals and standards of the quantification evaluation were given; then, a green building material optimization selection model was constructed, and a multi-objective energy-saving optimization algorithm was proposed; at last, experimental results gave the green levels of a few candidate green building materials and the scores of the environmental impact factors, which had verified the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
