Abstract:The different times in which Hegel and Marx lived leads to two diverse understanding of the nature of philosophy of history.The era in which Hegel lived is one of great political liberation opened by the French Revolution.In that era,rationality is the main theme of the age and its basic spirit of the philosophy of history.The era in which Marx lived is one of the great social changes with the industrial revolution as the leading force.In that era,machine production is the strongest voice in the time,which promotes the rapid development of productive forces,the fundamental change in productive forces,and the gigantic change in the human history.While analyzing Hegel's speculative philosophy of history and Feuerbach's historical idealism,Marx created his own philosophy of history,with historical materialism and science of history as its forms of narrow and broad senses.
