Entrepreneurial University:Connotation,Organization and Practice Approaches

Abstract:A new trend in world higher education since the late 20th century is the emergence and development of entrepreneurial universities.This paper firstly discusses the connotation of "reformative" and "guidance" entrepreneurial universities based on the analysis of two different research approaches.Referring to the discussion,the paper combs the basic features of the entrepreneurial universities from the dimensions of the organization′s goal,construction,operation mechanism and cultures,summarizing entrepreneurial universities′ uniqueness from the previous teaching-intensive universities and research-intensive universities.At last,the paper proposes some practice approaches for those high-level universities in China to establish entrepreneurial universities from the aspects of developing vision,organizational goal,organizational institutions,operation mechanism,resources distribution and organization's cultures.
