Characteristics of hepatitis C virus infection in special population

Abstract:Objective To have a general understanding of HCV infection status and clinical features of anti-HCV positive patients documented in our hospital.Methods From Jan.to Dec.2007,all inpatients and outpatients of Ruijin Hospital who had anti-HCV test were taken into account,the anti-HCV results were analyzed retrospectively.Biochemical and other lab tests were also analyzed for all anti-HCV positive patients from 2006 to 2007.Results Four hundred and ninty-eight(2.25%) anti-HCV positive results were achieved among 22 146 non-repeating tests.In the patients who had anti-HCV screen before surgery,the positive rate was 0.72%.The average positive rate for patients in infectious and renal disease related department were 8.80% and 7.43% respectively.Approximately 30% and 14% of anti-HCV positive patients were found anti-HBc and HBsAg positive.Genotype 1b was the predominant genotype(60.98%),while 2a(19.51%) and 3a(9.76%) were less frequent.Conclusion HCV infection was not prevailing in patients documented in our hospital.Dialysis pationts were at high risk of infection.
