The Development of Studies on the Isolation and Cultivation of Rare Actinomycetes in Soil

Abstract:It was important to search rare actinomycetes for novel antibiotics and other bioactive microbial metabolites. Various methods for isolating desirable rare actinomycete genera from natural habitats were researched in several years. A series of selective isolation methods were reviewed, the research of rare actinomycete genera including actinoplanes, actinokineospora, actinomadura, dactylsporangium, microbispora, micromonospora, microtetraspora, saccharomonospora, etc had developed. These methods include a variety of pretreatment techniques in combination with enrichment techniques that appropriately supplement agar media with selective antimicrobial agents.The isolation and iultivation of rare actinomycetes were introducted in this review.
