The Governance Structure of Technological Innovation at Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises

Abstract:Corporate governance structure and corporate technological innovation are closely related: effective governance structure can offer strong support to technological innovation,reduce risks in technological innovation and form incentives for technological innovation.Governance structure is the key element in technological innovation at small and medium-sized enterprises(SMEs).In SMEs in China,however,malfunctioning governance structure,excessive ownership concentration,and malfunctioning board of directors restrain technological innovation.In order to improve the governance structure of technological innovation at SMEs in China,we should bolster support for technological innovation,improve board function and ensure more scientific decision-making in technological innovation,and improve incentive and constraint mechanism in corporate governance and encourage the initiative of managers in technological innovation.
