Abstract:Mapping between ontologies is the major bottleneck in semantic integration. In this paper, we present MCMA, a mediator-centric mapping architecture that facilitates the integration between ontologies of interrelated companies. In MCMA, different ontologies are mapped through some middle concepts and the Mapping Service acts as a bridge to connect them. As a mediator, the provider of Mapping Service is interested in a specific area and offers some common ontologies for participators to reuse. On the assumption that each individual ontology may reuse or make reference to common definitions, some mapping relations can be defined conveniently. Based on these basic mapping relations, the Mapping Service infers more middle-concept oriented mapping relations and organizes them in a layered manner. We present the idea of combining heuristics or machine-learning techniques with common ontology approach in the mapping discovery.

Abstract:In order to deal with the heterogeneous systems and variety of business data, business model and description of different enterprises in the interoperation process, a semantic interoperability framework for business collaboration is proposed in this paper. In the framework, a multi-facet ontology system supporting business collaboration is introduced to give unified understanding throughout interoperation process. Based on the framework, a method to extract ontologies from multi sources quickly and to realize semantic mapping based on mixed ontologies is utilized to resolve the semantic conflicts. Web service is employed to eliminate the system-level heterogeneity and is semantically enhanced to meet the requirements of service discovery. After that, the on-demand business construction is achieved through services dynamic combination. Finally, a prototype platform is developed and the feasibility of our framework was verified. Our proposed framework provides beneficial references for SMEs to realize inter-enterprise business collaboration in China.

Abstract:One of the important problems in the development of techniques for the semantic Web is the mapping of ontologies. Indeed,the Web is constituted by a variety of information sources,each expressed over a certain ontology-In order to share the information among such sources, their semantic mapping is required- In this paper, first we discuss the three integration architectures. Then we refer to the taxonomy which is presented by E- Ramh.and apply to summarize various major ontology mapping approaches. At last. we compare four typical mapping approaches following the criteria,and conclude that the combination of the individual matchers is a promising direction.

Abstract:With the growing access to heterogeneous and independent product data repositories, the treatment of differences in the structure and semantics of the data plays a major role in product knowledge systems. Recent research has used ontology as the knowledge base that describes concepts. For the great variation both in the level of detail and logic of different ontology representations, an integration process is needed. Comparing conception is a basic operation in the process. This paper has introduced three individual mapping methods on conception compare - Affix, Edit Distance and Synonym (WordNet). To evaluate their actual effects, a product ontology mapping task has applied these methods. Comparative study on the experiment results shows that each method has some disadvantages and can not complete the mapping task independently. To achieve better effect, it is necessary to improve the performance of the individual methods and combine their mapping results.

Abstract:Selecting appropriate learning services for a learner from a large number of heterogeneous knowledge sources is a complex and challenging task. This article illustrates and discusses how Semantic Web technologies such as RDF and ontology can be applied to e-learning systems to help the learner in selecting an appropriate learning course or retrieving relevant information. It presents the main features of an e-learning scenario and the ontology on which it is based, then illustrates the scenario ontology with the training domain and the application domain. Finally, it presents semantic querying and semantic mapping approaches.

Abstract:Ontology building and mapping technology is mainly for the elimination of the semantic heterogeneity of heterogeneous data sources and is the foundation to realize the heterogeneous data semantic analytical.Based on the existing research results of bus framework for enterprise information integration and aiming at the existing problems of ontology building process,this paper puts forward global ontology building technology based on the sharing glossary and local ontology building technology based on UML,which makes the relationship of constructing ontology element become more accurate,complete and with good consistency.Also it simplifies the process of building ontology workload.And the ontology mapping strategies based on comprehensive similarity is proposed,the integrated similarity is calculated from four aspects:concept name,structure,property,instance,which greatly improves the ontology mapping precision.

Abstract:An ontology-based framework of B2B integration is presented in this paper. The backbone of the framework is a central Integration Intermediary, which provides common ontology modules for registered companies to reuse. Due to the reusing, the developing of a company-specific ontology is simplified and the similarity between different ontologies is improved. The mapping between different companies' ontologies is not direct. Mapping Service in the Intermediary acts as a mediator and some mapping relations can be deduced according to the semantic relations of concepts.

Abstract:A heterogeneous system interoperation framework based on multi-layer ontology was proposed to solve the problems of integrating heterogeneous systems during the business collaboration.Using the key components of business collaboration: product,activity,process as a point of departure,the framework defines a multi-layer ontology model composed of product knowledge ontology,activity ontology,and process ontology,to realize the semantic consistency of multi-components in collaboration process.Product knowledge ontology supports the product specification in activity ontology;activity ontology describes the concept,function,implementation of each procedure or action in process;and process ontology connects various activities by control construction to compose business process.The combined mapping theory and the semantic similarity semantic algorithm realize the semantic mapping and integration among different ontology libraries and achieve upper ontology.OWL-S is used to describe the release and request of Web service.The example of cloth sale showed how the business interoperation mechanism works to achieve business ordering process matching using the ontology mapping module and the semantic matching module in the prototype system.

Abstract:We store the tourism service information in ebXML registry via OTA ClassificationScheme and geography ClassificationScheme in a tree structure,and then extend ebXML registry to make it OWL aware so that the complex relations between the ClassificationNodes can be expressed by the extended set of associations.Therefore,computer can understand the semantics in user's query,and find the requested ClassificationNode quickly and effectively.Finally,Then we established a tourism e-commerce platform on the basis of OWL-based ebXML,so that user can find his/her satisfying tourism information only through simple query steps.The user can negotiate with the tourism enterprises to start a tourism transaction.

Abstract:The basic model of part ontology mapping process was established in order to resolve ontology heteroge-neity problems in part base. A structure-semantic-characteristics (SSC) ontology mapping algorithm was presen-ted. The algorithm combined a structure similarity algorithm, a semantic similarity algorithm and a part character-istics similarity algorithm. The structure similarity algorithm was used to solve the heterogeneous problems of on-tology structure. The semantic similarity algorithm was used to solve the inconsistency problems of concepts, properties and instances in ontologies. The part characteristics similarity algorithm was used to solve the inconsist-encies of knowledge expression in part. Using recall and precision ratios for key index, an example was compara-tively analyzed to show the SSC is validity.

Abstract:In order to implement common adaptability in accessing to distributed resources, it is fatal for Web applications to deploy business workflows onto network service environments composed of Web Services and Grid Services. This paper introduces abstract resources and abstract services to express abstract workflows, and uses resources and service instances to express executable workflows that can run in service environments. Thus the deployment and execution of business workflows are transformed into two mappings: mapping of business workflow onto abstract workflows and mapping of abstract workflows onto executable workflows. The definition of relevant parameters used to implement automatic mapping is formulized as Application Template (AT). The most important component of AT is corresponding relation between business functions and abstract workflow fragments. AT also defines restrictions while each abstract services are utilized in certain application tasks, as well as associated service metadata. The latter avoids superfluous metadata by service providers, and simplifies unnecessary details in matching service instances.

Abstract:In the interoperation among enterprises in Business, there is a big problem that different data models and information description are used in different enterprises' systems which blocking the ambient Semantic collaboration. Ontology is an important tool to overcome syntax and semantic misunderstanding. Our goal is to provide a user-friendly environment supporting syntax and neutral format data model for business information. In this paper, a unified description of data model which mapping from logical data of enterprise's information system is developed to solve the gap in interoperation. It provides the methods to realize the mapping among serious types of data or information. Firstly, database and other types of information are transformed into neutral format which described by OWL. Secondly, the neutral format can be mapped into the semantic entities and semantic linking through the process of extraction and annotation and added into ontology and been described in a standard method which makes the collaboration could be understood. Lastly, a prototype is described and realized as an integration platform.

Abstract:This paper discusses the interoperability of e-business processes by using an ontology approach with description logic and agent systems to achieve e-business automation. An innovative e-business process modeling framework is proposed that outlines the building blocks required for Internet-based e-business in order to enable e-business process automation. The framework helps in understanding the role of many proposed standards with respect to the building blocks and in identifying both overlaps and gaps among them. Abstract:Web services are gaining momentum as key elements in cross-domain enterprises integration because more and more functions within intra- and inter- enterprises have been encapsulated as Web services. However, these services are typically provided and invoked by different service providers in different enterprises distributed in multi-domains, so it is inevitable to face the problem of semantic inconsistency during enterprise integrating and cooperating. In this paper, ontology is brought out to solve this problem by building reference ontologies corresponding to each domain, and then collaboration ontologies are constructed semi-automatically, whereafter OWL-S files generated from collaboration ontologies are mapped to BPEL and WSDL files respectively. By this way, the semantic information will be kept in processes and Web services, so that there is common understanding among cross-domain cooperating enterprises. The OCDEII system architecture is proposed to support such integration and interoperability and further a prototype system is implemented in Project ImportNET.

Abstract:The idea of the semantic web is to add machineprocessable information to web-based data in order to realize interoperability, and a key objective for semantic web services is to provide machine interpretable descriptions of web services so that other software agents can use them without having any prior built-in knowledge about how to invoke them. Ontologies play a prominent role in the concept of the semantic web to provide semantic information for assisting communication among heterogeneous information repositories. As increasing numbers of ontologies are developed by diverse communities, the demand for rapid ontology mapping is arising. In this paper, a novel similarity measure method based on rough set and formal concept analysis (RFCA) is proposed to realize ontology mapping tasks. A reference concept lattice is first constructed with the combination of two normalized contexts. Rough set theory is then employed to calculate the similarity measure of the two ontology nodes. With a specified threshold, the final result of ontology mapping can be obtained. Compared with other mapping algorithms, the proposed ontology mapping method is featural and structural, and the mapping results are accurate and more confident.

Abstract:Supply chain interactions are complex in general and can be viewed as a networked enterprise. In this paper, we address information system interoperability for exploring and analysing the interoperation problem in heterogeneous networked enterprise systems. We propose a common shared ontology-based framework for networked enterprise interoperability for the context of information flows in supply chain interactions. A supply chain ontology, supply chain operations reference SCOR ontology, is developed based on the SCOR model. Subsequently, by formalising the similar concepts of SCOR ontology and product ontology, ONTO-PDM, using description logic, we propose a product-centric supply chain ontology framework for facilitating the interoperation between all enterprise applications involved in an extended supply chain. A case study of a supply chain make-to-order process is used to demonstrate the feasibility of the approach.

Abstract:Product ontologies in E-commerce establish a shared and common understanding of product domain by building hierarchies of product classes enriched by attributes. In standard product ontologies, such as UNSPSC (Universal Standard Products and Services Classification Code), the main drawback is the lack of attributes attached to the concepts. As table is an important means for organizing products information in E-commerce Web-station, a semi-automatic approach was proposed to extract property conceptual ontology from tables. The approach used UNSPSC as embryonic kernel ontology. Table recognition, table normalization, table structure detection, unit product ontology and global product ontology building were researched. The semi-automatic approach can avoid the non-consistence due to the absence of description standard in standard product ontology and realize the automatic extension and complement of the kernel ontology.

Abstract:Nowadays many functions within intra- and inter- enterprises have been encapsulated into Web services to enable platform independent integration and interoperation. To realize the enterprise applications, most Web services are composed as workflows based on Business Process Execute Language (BPEL). However, the absence of semantic information in processes reduces the efficiency of interoperation and cooperation among these Web services from different providers. In this paper, a novel framework to support semantic cooperation of business processes is proposed, which brings semantic information into processes through mapping OWL-S to BPEL and Web Service Definition Language (WSDL) documents, then Web services from various domains and enterprises can understand each other eventually. The framework is being implemented under Project ImportNET.
