Abstract:″Reflexivity″ has become one of the focal points in current academic discussions. This paper only attempts to discuss the reflexivity of knowledge. Both social science knowledge and natural science knowledge have reflexivity as both of them fulfill the following three conditions of knowledge reflexivity: the involvement of actual social variables, the knowledge producers' awareness of the involvement, and the counter influence of the awareness of the knowledge production from knowledge producers.However, there is an obvious distinction between the two kinds of reflexivity. The reflexivity of social sciences is plentiful and direct while the reflexivity of natural sciences is scarce and indirect;the former not only influences the direction and consequences of researches but also changes theoretical propositions proper, while the latter limits its influence merely to the reflection of the consequences of knowledge application, and the researches on which are relatively independent of the society.The causes of this difference lie in the characteristics of the subjects studied as well as the degree of involvement of social variables. With the social development, there is a growing involvement of the social variables in social sciences while such involvement in natural sciences remains relatively constant. Furthermore, it is human beings with consciousness and ability to ponder who are involved in the research object of social sciences. Thus, they will have impact on the research and deepen the reflexivity of social sciences as well.Since social sciences have more influencing reflexivity, we should advance with the time when we pursue research in social sciences; while natural science also has its reflexivity, we should take its social influence into account accordingly and try to be a knowledge producer with social responsibility.
