Abstract:23 species of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi were isolated from the rhizospheres of 18 kinds of trees in central Shaanxi.Three were in Acaulospora,and the others were in Glomus.G1omus was a dominant genera.G.mosseae,G.versiforme and G.geosporum were dominant species.In this work,the selectiving and regularities of distrition are analysed between the AV mycorrhizal fungi and host trees.

Twenty years of research on community composition and species distribution of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in China: a review

Abstract:The biodiversity and distribution of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) in different ecosystems and plant communities in China has received increasing interest over the past decades. This has led to a steady increase in the number of scientific papers published on this topic. Studies have surveyed AMF-colonizing rhizospheres of most families of angiosperms, bryophytes, pteridophytes, and gymnosperms. China has about 30,000 plant species (one eighth of the plant species worldwide). A total of 104 AMF species within nine genera, including 12 new species, have been reported in environments such as croplands, grasslands, forests, and numerous disturbed environments. In this paper, we review data published over the past 20 years on AMF community composition and species distribution, the mycorrhizal status of plants, AMF spore communities in different habitats, and germplasm collections in China. Possible future trends in the study of the biodiversity of AMF are also briefly discussed. In particular, the aim of our review is to make some of the recent work published in the Chinese literature accessible to a wider international audience.
VA Mycorrhizal Fungi Infecting Plants in Saline-alkali Soil of Gansu

Abstract:The symbiosis of plants with VA mycorrhizal fungi in saline-alkali soil of Gansu was studied and this showed that the VA mycorrhizal fungi colonized all 17 species of 10 families but Suaeda glauca Beg.and the colonization rate was 94.1%;there was high spore density of the mycorrhizal fungi in salinealkali soil,indicating that the plants relatively highly relied on the mycorrhizal fungi in saline-alkali soil ecosystem of Gansu and the mycorrhizal fungi had a strong capacity of producing spores in the saline-alkali soil;of the VA mycorrhizal fungi that was investigated to infect plants,Arum type accounted for 68.75% and Pris type accounted 31.25%;the types of the mycorrhizal fungi depended on the types of their host families,Poaceae and Iridaceae supporting P type and other families such as Liliaceae and Elaeagnaceae supporting A type;soil types exerted influence on the colonization rates and rhizospere spore densities of host plants and the colonization rate and rhizoshpere spore density of same host plants greatly differed among different soil types.

Abstract:This paper reviews the mycorrhizal studies in China. On the basis of the 417 papers and reports published from 1998 to 2002, we summarized the progress made by Chinese scientists during that period, and suggested the research directions that should be addressed in the future. Abstract:Nine species of VA mycorrhizal fungi were identified from the rhizosphere soil of main afforesting tree species on loess plateau in western Henan Province,such as Populus tomentosa,Ulmns pamila,Paulownia elongate,Robinia pseudoacacia,Salix babylonica,Ailanthus altissima.They were Glomus deserticola,G.constrictum,G. caledonium,G.mosseae,G.geospora,G.monoosporum,G.diaphanum,G.microaggregatum,Scutellospora reticulata.Among them,G.constrictum was dominant species in western Henan Province.Character of these species were described and distributive principle were further discussed.

Abstract:The distributions of arbuscular mycorrhizal(AM)Fungi at 0—60 cm soil layers of 5 vineyards in Northwestern area were studied in this paper.The results showed that grape has colonization with AM fungi,and the highest colonization is about 79%.22 species of 4 genera of AM fungi are isolated from the soil samples in the 5 vineyards,and 15 species of them belong to Glomus,4 belong to Acaulospora,2 belong to Scutellospora and 1 belongs to Gigaspora.The diversities of AM fungi in the different sampling sites are different.The spore density in the Jingyang,Shaanxi(JY) sampling site is the highest,the second is Yongji,Shanxi(YJ),and followed by Yangling,Shaanxi(YL) and Yinchuan,Ningxia(YC) sampling sites.The sampling site with the lowest spore density is Mogao,Gansu(MG),which is less than 110 spore in per 100 grams sample.The AM fungi species richness is also varied in different sampling sites,Jingyang(JY) sampling site is the highest.The relative abundance of AMF genus is GlomusAcaulospora ScutellosporaGigaspora.Glomus is the dominant genus at all times.The dominant stains are G.intraradices,G.mosseae,G.versiforme in different sample sites,while the G.coronatum,G.fasciculatum,A.scrobiculata are rare stains in most sample sites.

Abstract:Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi of Dipterocarpaceae in Xishuangbanna, Southern Yunnan were investigated. Nine species of Acaulospora, 2 species of Archaespora, 23 species of Glomus, 1 species of Paraglomus and 2 species of Scutellospora were isolated and identified. Among them, Acaulospora rehmii, Glomus convolutum and Glomus magnicaule are new recorded species in China.

Abstract:Eighteen species of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in two genera (Glomus and Entrophospora) were isolated from the rhizosphere of the wild plants in Shandong province, Beijing and Shenyang: Glomus aggregatum, G. caledonium, G. claroideum, G. clarum, G. constrictum, G. diaphanum, G. etunicatum, G. fasciculatum, G. formosanum, G. geosporum, G. hoi, G. intraradices, G. mosseae, G. occultum, G. reticulatum, G. rubiforme, G. versiforme, Entrophospora infrequens. Among them, the species marked with asterisks are new records in China.
Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal diversity in arid zones in northwestern China

Abstract:In order to understand the distribution pattern of the resources of arbuscular mycorrhizal(AM)fungi in arid zones in northwestern China,we investigated AM fungal diversity in five vegetation types:de-sert,grassland,forest,meadow,and oasis farmland.Forty AM fungal species belonging to six genera were identified from the rhizospheres of 60 plant species.Of these fungi,35 were identified to species and five were identified to genus.Glomus claroideum was the dominant species throughout the sampling area,but the occurrence and distribution pattern of AM fungi in the five vegetation types were quite different.Entro-phospora was only observed in desert while Paraglomus was found in oasis farmland and desert,Archaeo-spora existed in grassland,desert and oasis farmland,and Scutellospora existed in meadow,forest and grass-land.The biodiversity index in oasis farmland and meadow were higher than other vegetation types,indicat-ing soil moisture may be the most important factor affecting the distribution of AM fungi in arid zones.

Abstract:Many papers have been published in the field of mycorrhizal research because of the development of scientific technology and the widespread use of mycorrhizal technology.In this paper,the progress of mycorrhizal studies and their applications in China are reviewed.On the basis of the 1 166papers published from 2006to 2010,we analyzed the progress made by Chinese scientists during this period.The main results,including mycorrhizal nutrition,mycorrhizal ecology,use of molecular technology in mycorrhizal studies and the effects of mycorrhizal infection on plant resistance are discussed.The applications of mycorrhiza at the plant nursery stage and in edible fungus production are also discussed.The prospects for mycorrhizal studies and their applications in agricultural and forestry fields in the future are addressed.
Diversity and zonal distribution of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi on the northern slopes of the Tianshan Mountains

Abstract:The arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungal status of the 20 most common plant species distributed in 4 vegetation types (meadow steppe, desert steppe, steppe desert and typical desert) on the northern slopes of the Tianshan Mountains was investigated. Samples of the plant species and their rhizosphere soils were collected from the 4 vegetation zones and examined to compare their mycorrhizal status, AM fungal spore densities, biovolumes, and community structures. 28 AM fungal species were isolated from the rhizosphere soils: of these, 5 belonged to Acaulospora, 1 to Archaeospora and 22 to Glomus. 5 AM fungi, Glomus aggregatum, G. claroideum, G. deserticola, G. etunicatum and G. sinuosum , were observed in all 4 zonal types. No significant differences were observed in mean proportion of root length colonized by AM fungi among the plant species within each zonal type. Comparing the 4 zonal types, Plantago minuta (84.5%) in steppe desert and Eremopyrum orientale (83.1%) in typical desert showed the highest root colonizatsion rates. AM fungal spore densities and biovolumes were significantly different in the different zonal types. AM fungal spore densities and biovolumes, species richness and diversity were highest in meadow steppe and lowest in typical desert.
AM FUNGI IN THE TROPICAL RAIN FOREST OF XISHUANGBANNA

Abstract:The arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi colonization on the root system of 42 plants (in 30 families) in the tropical rain forest of Xishuangbanna was surveyed. Twenty-five arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi were isolated and identified to the genera of Acaulospora, Glomus and Sclerocystis. The arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal spore density, the species richness and the species frequency in the soil of tropical rain forest were analyzed. It was found that the arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal spore density has a range of 116~1560/100g, average 478/100g(spores /g soil), the species richness was between 2~7 (average 4.5). Acaulospora and Glomus fungi were the dominant AM fungi in the soil of tropical rain forest of Xishuangbanna.

Relationship Between AM Fungi Resources and Soil Factors under Different Climatic Conditions

Abstract:【Objective】The study was to explore the relationship between arbuscular mycorrhiza(AM) fungi and soil factors under different climatic conditions.【Method】The mycorrhizal structure type and species of AM fungi in rhizosphere of two plants,Populus simonii Carr and Robinia pseudoacacia L.in Ningshan and Hengshan under different climatic conditions,and the effects of soil factors on colonization rate and spore density were studied.【Result】The results showed that 22 species of AM fungi were identified from the rhizosphere of plants.They belonged to Glomus,Archaeospora,Acaulospora,Gigasporaand Scutellospora 5 genus and Glomus was the dominant genera.The numbers of species of AM fungi identified from the rhizosphere of Populus simonii Carr and Robinia pseudoacaciain Ningshan and Hengshan were 13,13 and 18,19.Correlation analysis between soil factors and AM fungi spore density or colonization rate revealed that Available N and Available P were positively correlated with AM fungi spore density or colonization rate in all samples.Organic matter was positively correlated with AM fungi spore density or colonization rate of Robinia pseudoacaciain Hengshan,and negatively correlated with Robinia pseudoacaciain Nings-han,Populus simonii Carr in Ningshan and Hengshan,and pH appeared on the contrary.Path analysis indicated that soil factors on different host plants infect AM fungi spore density or colonization rate in different degrees.【Conclusion】These results indicated that the mycorrhizal structure type and species of AM fungi are diversified under different climatic conditions;The effects of soil factors on AM fungi colonization rate or spore density vary with host plants.

Abstract:As a kind of globally widely distributed soil microorganism, arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi form the symbiosis with the majority of land plants, which is important for plant nutrition and ecosystem functioning. Few vascular species are considered to be nonmycorrhizal, especially those within the families Amaranthaceae, Chenopodiaceae, Carophyllaceae and Brassicaceae. At present, the interactions between these non-host plants and AM fungi are few and scattered, lacking systematic summary. In this paper, the type of non-host plants, the reason of low mycotrophy, and the effect of AM network formed by neighbor plants on AM fungi colonization on the non-host, and the possible interaction between AM fungi and non-host, as well as the material exchange between plants and AM fungi and their possible ecological functions were reviewed in order to give some new ideas on the function of the nonmycorrhizal plants in the fragile ecosystems.

Abstract:China has a complex and diverse forest ecological environment, which breeds abundant forest macrofungi, including some edible, medicinal, and poisonous species. During the investigations of macrofungi in the Saihanba National Nature Reserve, North China, we collected abundant specimens of Agaricales and Polyporales within the Agaricomycetes. Based on the morphological characters and molecular evidence of DNA sequences including the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) regions, the large subunit of nuclear ribosomal RNA gene (nLSU), the small subunit of mitochondrial rRNA gene (mtSSU), the small subunit of nuclear ribosomal RNA gene (nuSSU), the largest subunit of RNA polymerase II (RPB1), the second largest subunit of RNA polymerase II gene (RPB2), the beta-tubulin gene (TUB), and the translation elongation factor 1-alpha gene (TEF1), this study identifies ten species of Agaricales and Polyporales new to science, viz. Cyanosporus subpopuli, Gelatinofungus betulina, Lycoperdon pseudoperlatum, Macrocystidia hebeiensis, Mycena subbrunnea, M. subpura, M. variispora, M. violocea-ardesiaca, Picipes griseus, and Pleuroflammula hebeiensis. Detailed morphological descriptions, fruiting bodies, and microscopic structure diagrams of these ten novel species are provided.
Analyses of the Mycorrhizal Research State and Development in China Based on SCI Database

Abstract:Papers on mycorrhizas were searched from SCI (Science Citation Index) database. In order to understand the research progress of mycorrhizas in China, the paper on mycorrhizas from 1989 to 2007 was analyzed with method of bibliometrics. Mycorrhizal researches showed an increasing tendency during 1989 to 2007, while the increase was obviously accelerated after 2000. Only 5.22% of the articles were published in journals with impact factor above 5, indicates that the academic levels of researches need being enhanced. Currently the research on mycorrhizas was mainly focused on Arbuscular mycorrhiza (AM), especially on effects of mycorrhizal fungi on plant physiology, effects of mycorrhizal fungi on resistance of host plants, Mycorrhizal diversity community and ecological distribution, and phytoremediation with Mycorrhizal plants. The future research should emphasize in phytoremediation with Mycorrhizal plants and identification of fungal species with molecular biological technology.
