Abstract:Basement reservoir is a special type of oil and gas reservoirs, mainly refers to the oil and gas reservoirs preserved in crystalline bedrock.According to the survey, the total reserves of basement reservoirs are almost equivalent to 15% of the world's known reserves, mainly distributed in Southeast Asia,North Africa and North America, etc. The strata are old with Cambrian as the dominant productive formation. The reservoirs include granite, metamorphic rock, igneous rock, weathering basal conglomerate and so on.It is generally believed that hydrocarbon in basement reservoirs has three sources: overlying source rock, lateral generative system, and the reservoir formed nearby;there are also some scholars who believe in inorganic origin. The reservoir space involves pores, seams and holes formed by tectonic and weathering actions. As the deepening of oil and gas exploration,it is found that basement may have a great potential of discovering large reservoirs.
