Abstract:As an inevitable phenomenon of daily life in organizations,conflicts always exert variable effects on work groups and their members.Either functional or dysfunctional outcomes are attributed to the content and intensity of a conflict,and the way to deal with them is also important.A wise and reasonable choice of the The conflict strategies will directly influence not only the relationship between group members,but also their output and performance to some extent.The conflict-handling-mode is a multi-dimensional concept. Nowadays,two-dimensional models are the mainstream,which generally categories conflict-managing methods into five ones—competing,collaboration,compromising,avoiding and obliging.According to the theoretical models,there are five classic scales—CMS,MODE,OCCI,CMMS,ROCI-Ⅱ—and all of them are empirically validated and supported to varying degrees.Comparing the item content and psychometric properties of each scale,we can find both advantages and disadvantages in them,especially some common and noticeable shortcomings,such as low reliabilities,simple validations and significant social desirability bias.Therefore,based on the maturity of theoretic models,further amendment and refining are needed for these instruments in the future.

Abstract:Based on social exchange and customer relationship marketing theory, this study examines how ethical leadership contributes to inter-organizational conflict management (task conflict (TC) and relationship conflict), and the moderating role of task interdependence in these relationships. Data was collected from 81 suppliers and 45 corresponding managers of a large group company in China. Results show that ethical leadership is negatively associated with the levels of inter-organizational conflict, whether task or relationship. Task interdependence significantly moderates the relationship between ethical leadership and TC. Managerial implication in terms of creating sound buyer–supplier relationship through an ethical perspective is discussed.

Abstract:The university campus conflicts,with the coexisting features of quick proliferation and broad par- ticipation,the nonsexual difference and the anomaly,the violence,the fierceness and the premeditation,getting worse in recent years,have affected the harmonious campus construction.The reasons for the conflicts are main- ly attributed to the asynchronous development of the students' physiological age and their psychological age,the improper anxiety,stress and catharsis,and the lack of the ideological guidance or proper education.There ex- ists many ways to coordinate the campus conflicts.The basic course"Moral Cultivation and Law Basics"plays an important role in coordinating the campus conflicts as correctors,guide,standardization and also outlets for the pent-up feelings.

Abstract:Based on previous research achievement—4D construction management system,in order to meet specific requirements of real projects and to enhance the construction conflict analysis abilities of the system,the authors firstly summarize conflict analysis needs for schedule management,resource management and cost management during construction by investigation.Then an improved analysis and management approach for construction conflict is proposed by inducting the 4D information model to solve corresponding technical problems,followed by a detailed description of the work flow of conflict analysis and management.The static alert mechanism according to current construction status and the dynamic early-warning mechanism are illustrated based on prediction information by development trends during construction.Finally,examples of project applications show that the improved approach proposed can help project managers to grasp and analyze various construction conflicts,achieve purposes of conflict early warning and decision-making support.

Abstract:Conflict is inevitable and an essential part of organizational life, as the goals of employers and employees are often incompatible. In this study, by employing both qualitative and quantitative methods, we inductively identified the categories of labor relations conflicts (interest-based, rights-based, and affect-based conflicts) and developed a three-dimensional scale that reflects employees' perceptions of labor relations conflicts in the Chinese context. By using matched data from 1223 employees and 136 human resource (HR) managers and employing hierarchical linear modeling (HLM) analysis, we tested the hypotheses and examined the effectiveness of partnership practices on reducing labor relations conflicts, the negative effects of labor relations conflicts on employees' attitudes and behaviors, and the mediating role of labor relations conflicts on the relationship between partnership practices and employees' attitudes and behaviors. The theoretical contributions and practical implications of the findings are discussed.

Abstract:Service brings company the competitive advantages, which has drawn the national and worldwide attention both in theory and in practice. The core problem is to improve the service quality. But it is difficult to measure service quality and manage the service. After the review of service management, the article finds cultural factor is important and determinant, which is neglected by most of the researchers. Service-Profit Chain has clearly exhibited the procedure of service delivery, which has helped us to develop an analytical framework. Through this framework, this article also discusses the importance of management of cultural conflict during the course of service delivery. After the analysis of inner and outer cultural conflict, the article tries to put emphasis on the strategy of cultural conflict management. © 2006 IEEE.

Abstract:Conflict is inevitable in construction projects, and satisfactory conflict resolution is vital for maintaining amicable relationships and accomplishing project goals. This study aims to explain satisfaction with conflict resolution outcomes by referring to cooperative and competitive conflict management approaches and exploring how these relationships change in light of different degrees of conflict strength in terms of novelty, criticality, and disruption. We conducted a survey using convenience sampling and collected 212 valid questionnaires from Chinese practitioners in the construction industry. After checking reliability and validity, we conducted statistical analyses, including hierarchical multiple regression, moderated regression, and subgroup analysis using Stata software to test the hypotheses. The results show that the cooperative approach is relatively robust and contributes to satisfaction enhancement, regardless of conflict strength. By contrast, a competitive approach is beneficial for satisfaction only when conflict strength is low (i.e., low novelty, low criticality, or low disruption). Theoretically, this study provides a new perspective on conflict strength (rather than a commonly used indicator of the degree of conflict) and contributes to the construction conflict management research by revealing the boundary conditions of conflict management approaches. Practically, the findings provide practitioners with guidance regarding the selection of an appropriate conflict management approach with the aim of improving parties' satisfaction with conflict resolution outcomes.

Abstract:Research Purpose: This study explores the dynamics underlying the use of home–school– community partnerships as an essential strategy for addressing the challenges associated with equity and quality in education. Despite the many benefits that such partnerships can offer in different countries, conflict is also common in such partnerships, which has the potential to serve as a catalyst for reflection and improvement. Method: Based on a qualitative analysis and a comparative literature review, this study explored the causes of conflict in family–school– community collaboration, particularly with regard to the functions of conflict in the context of collaboration. The findings emphasize the facts that school-led activities must be fully supported by families and communities, that resource integration is important, and that educational responsibilities must be implemented collectively. Effective collaboration among stakeholders is essential to efforts to improve educational experiences and outcomes. Result: By recognizing conflict as an opportunity for growth, this study advocates a localized and ultimately a structured approach to the task of strengthening partnerships among families, schools and communities; this approach aims to support student development and reduce educational inequalities.

Abstract:It is essential to resolve conflicts efficiently in a collaborated design process. The constraint-based collaborated design process, main model and client model were defined firstly, and how the conflicts were engendered and classified in the constraint-based collaborated design process was discussed. Then the conflict harmonization method based on the constraint satisfaction equations and three steps to harmony the conflicts were introduced. An actual example is given under the MotorCCDS system finally, and the performance is compared with that of some traditional mechanisms.
Conflict Management and Team Effectiveness in China: The Mediating Role of Justice

Abstract:Although increasingly relied upon, teams can be ineffective and frustrating. Recent research suggests that conflict management contributes to team effectiveness but the value of conflict has not been considered to apply to China and other collectivist societies. However, collectivist values can make developing justice particularly important. This study investigates how conflict management can contribute to team effectiveness by developing justice. Structural equation analysis of data provided by 126 MBA student respondents involved in group projects in China supports the model that a cooperative approach to conflict leads to distributive, procedural, and interactive forms of justice which in turn promote team effectiveness. In contrast, an avoiding approach was found to predict injustice and team ineffectiveness. Unexpectedly, a competitive approach was not as consistently related to injustice as avoiding conflict. Findings were interpreted as suggesting that orienting members to manage conflict cooperatively can strengthen justice and effectiveness in teams in China.

Abstract:In University-Government-Enterprise cooperation,conflicts usually becomes obstacle to effective cooperation.This artical considers that the nature of this conflict is inconsistent standpoint caused by single object′s perspective.In order to solve it,we should establish inter-organization relations as what we call "ecological network",firstly.By shared vision,better contracts and operating mechanism,cooperation will be achieved.Specifically,through these four methods,partner choosing,communication strengthening,trust formation,and benefit distribution,conflicts would be in control and cooperation would be better established.

Abstract:Global pioneers had done quite a lot of theoretical and pedagogical research on peer conflicts, among which they considered Second Language (L2) peer assessment, teachers’ assessment, and the classification and identification of conflicts. While few scholars stand in L2 collaborative writing classrooms in early attempts to witness the conflict dynamics that learners confront in producing peer feedback. Therefore, this study gathers data from a Chinese university and seeks to expose the dynamic development of the conflict in peer interaction and characterize the intragroup conflict phase model. It is of great reference value for teachers to enact much of the teaching design in China since the data was initially extracted from Chinese classrooms. Implications for teaching are addressed, along with recommendations for future research.
