Abstract:One of the best methods for the internationalization and localization of an existing software system is to convert the program code to support Unicode, this method supports the internationalization very well. In this paper, a technique based on lexical analysis is proposed to migrate the program automatically to Unicode. This technique scans the program code twice: detecting, analyzing and manually converting the suspicious code in the first scanning, and auto-converting the remaining code in the second scanning. Applied to a system which has 10 million lines of C/C++ code, the technique was proved to be available and highly efficient. This technique is universal and can be widely used.

Abstract:The integration of technical documents within the whole product life cycle is one of the research task in computer integrated logistic support system. The document integration based on standard generalized markup language (SGML) was presented. The design and implementation of SGML engine was discussed to compile SGML document to SGML document with standardized format and to store in object-oriented database. The management system of document database was developed to implement exchange and sharing of product technical document, which provide description and control function for complex structural entity. The SGML document support tool-kit in super-medium environment was also developed, which contains access interface of database, document type definition browser, document browser and document editor. An illustrative example was given.

Abstract:For the application of real-time database in a petrochemical plant,the article put forwards to a new concept to resolve the communication among real-time database and DCS,control software,and Web-based user interface.The scheme is developed based on Windows 2000 Server using the technique of multe-threading,anolymous pipe and WinSock,etc.The results of long industrial running of this scheme show that it is more effective and feasible for industrial process.

Software Internationalization and Localization: an Industrial Experience

Abstract:Software internationalization and localization are important steps in distributing and deploying software to different regions of the world. Internationalization refers to the process of reengineering a system such that it could support various languages and regions without further modification. Localization refers to the process of adapting an internationalized software for a specific language or region. Due to various reasons, many large legacy systems did not consider internationalization and localization at the early stage of development. In this paper, we present our experience on, and propose a process along with tool supports for software internationalization and localization. We reengineer a large legacy commercial financial system called PAM of State Street Corporation, which is written in C/C++, containing 30 different modules, and more than 5 millions of lines of source code. We propose a source code ranker that recovers important source code to be analyzed. Based on this code, we extract general patterns of the source code that need to be reengineered for internationalization. We divide the patterns into 2 categories: convertible patterns and suspicious patterns. To locate the source code that need to be modified, we develop an automated tool I18nLocator, that consumes these patterns and outputs the locations that match the patterns. The source codes matching the convertible patterns are automatically converted, and those matching the suspicious patterns are converted by developers considering the context of the corresponding codes. For localization, we extract hard-coded strings, translate them, and store them into resource data files. Out of the 504 thousands of lines of source code that are modified using our proposed approach, we can automatically modify 79.76% of them, saving much valuable developers' time. The quality of the resultant system is also good. The number of bugs per lines of code modified found during user acceptance test and deployment to the production environment is 0.000218 bugs/LOC.

Abstract:A process experimental platform is designed and developed for complex process industrial modeling and control. This platform comprises simulation server, which is compiled and linked under Visual C++ circumstance, and simulation operating station, which is compiled under Visual Basic developing desktop. Simulation server works as a computational platform while simulation operating station is a user interface. Process data are incepted periodically by operating station from server. Also operations of users are transmitted from operating station to server. Win32 API functions, such as pipe functions and process functions, are used for complementing communication of different processes. The architecture and complement of the platform are introduced. Also part of codes and user interfaces of the platform software are given.

Abstract:Firstly the development trend of Web-based Distance Learning and the usage prospect of Linux made in China are analyzed.Then,the design architecture of MPEG4IP-based synchronic teaching system integrating audio,video and screenshot data is described.Based on the architecture,the designs of synchronic courseware player in student end,and its implementation based on GTK+ lib are analyzed.As a part of implementation mechanism,the running principle of SDL lib used in the player tool development is discussed.Finally,the future research issues and direction in this field are summarized.

Abstract:In order to monitor, manage, make decisions and evaluate the overall situation of the ship platform, we designed and implemented a ship-to-shore application-oriented intelligent platform management control and decision-making system, with a ship-borne intelligent system with network-entity system technology as the core. Shore-based information services based on ship-shore integration, a ship platform with intelligent functions such as perception, analysis, evaluation, prediction, decision-making, management, control, and remote support. The system takes the ship platform informationization as the demand traction. Based on the analysis of the requirements for the intelligent development of ships, the design and research are carried out from the overall framework, functions, and operation logic of the intelligent platform management and control decision-making system. The human-computer interaction interface is based on Visual Studio. Use Visual C# language to develop and package the model library. Designed and developed system application examples, and looked forward to the future application prospects of the system, providing support for the design, research and application of the subsequent military and civilian ship intelligent platform management and control decision-making systems.

Abstract:Embedded Software Platform for digital instrument device plays important role in developing of digital instrument device which is based on Embedded Technology.The design and implementation of Embedded Graphic Widget Library,which is one of the components of the software platform,was introduced in this paper.The system architecture was illustrated at first,and then descriptions of device context,windows management and message processing were also discussed.In addition,some core algorithms were analyzed,including focused window determination and message queue processing.Finally,some applications of the library were provided.
