Abstract:Luminance contrast under bright room condition is a crucial parameter in the visual quality assess-ment of Flat Panel Displays (FPDs). Especially for mobile displays, various ambient conditions should be considered in determining luminance contrast, such as different illumination level and spectrum. Both fluo-rescent lamp (s) illumination measurement and sphere-inside diffuse illumination measurement are intro-duced first. In order to provide a more accurate and convenient solution, a new measuring process based on the sphere-outside diffuse illumination for luminance contrast under bright-room condition is detailed. And in luminance contrast determining, CIE standard illuminant A and D65 are proposed as illuminanting source of warm-light ambient condition and daylight ambient condition, to remove the embarrassment of implementing specified standard illuminanation (CIE A, D65), the spectroradiometric method is put for-ward as a complement to perfect measurement.
