Abstract:In the new era, the socialist culture with Chinese characteristics must open the interactive development of integrity and innovation. The problem of human nature is often new in the process of development. In the excellent traditional Chinese culture, the people-oriented thought is an important political philosophy thought. Abstract:Following the trend of quick development of international organizations, China has to find out her cultural orientation in her closer cooperation with international organizations. First, China should actively join different kinds of international dialogues, to advance cultural “taking” and “giving” simultaneously. Secondly, emphasize the dynamic study of “idea strategy” and the construction of “cultural politics”. Thirdly, truly comprehend and well explain the contemporary value of Chinese cultural tradition, based on the deep understanding of the practical demands of modern world and China's national interests. For example, we should exploit more theoretical space on the issue of “human rights” and “sovereign rights”. Considering the peaceful international communication, the studies of “evolutionary learning”, “communication and human behavior”, “intercultural conflict”, are good sources of inspiration.

Abstract:The confidence of the nation comes from the confidence of culture, while culture is the spirit and soul of a nation, and the development of culture is related to the politics and economy of the whole country in many aspects. Taking the excellent traditional Chinese culture as the basic perspective, this paper will analyze the problems faced in developing the cultural confidence of socialism with Chinese characteristics from the basic connotation, ideological origin as well as the existing problems and the reasons of constraints, with socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era as the background of the times, and put forward suggestions and countermeasures according to the problems. This paper adopts a combination of literature research, abstract and concrete, history and reality to start from the ideological origin of socialist cultural self-confidence with Chinese characteristics, analyze some representative outstanding traditional cultures of the Chinese nation, and combine their role in contemporary society with their significance to the cultural construction of contemporary society, and explore a socialist cultural self-confidence path with great Chinese characteristics by linking theory with practice and concrete analysis of specific problems in the context of the new era.

Abstract:This article examines “core socialist values” as a part of the China Dream discourse, in the context of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)’s search for alternative sources of legitimacy. Using the “visualising our values” poster collection and the “China Dream Child” campaign as case studies, this article argues that such narratives form a crucial part of the CCP’s continuing legitimisation strategy, where the party emphasises its role in providing moral authority and guidance for the general public. In order to lay such claims, the narratives focus on romanticising and homogenising both the imperial and the socialist past, while projecting a strong sense of optimism for the future, based on similar hopes of continuity and homogeneity.

Abstract:This paper tries to investigate the nature of the spirit of Chinese culture and the possibility to renew Chinese culture in contemporary era. Contrary to the popular trend to simply imitate or learn form the Western, the author insists on the following positive positions for the Chinese culture. Firstly, the spirit of the Chinese culture is the “the spirit with sensitive life”. Secondly, the subjectivity of “common value of exchange” cannot be formed in the spirit of Chinese culture. Thirdly, the task of “enlightenment” can only be realized by Chinese themselves with its own characteristics. Fourthly, the essence of the possibility to revive Chinese culture lies in the constitution of “sensitive truth”. Lastly, “returning originality and open new world” will be the destination Chinese culture seeks from now on. Therefore, the basic topic for the revival of Chinese culture is to turn the power of capital into social right and obligation of the basis of sensitive individual moral.

Abstract:There has been a shift over the past generation in the moral basis for legitimacy of the Chinese state. The socialist state was legitimated by a sinified version of Marxism-Leninism, watered with the blood of revolutionary martyrs who fought on behalf of the Communist Party to defend the nation from external aggressors. However, at many levels of society, the Marxist legitimation is dead. Instead of claiming to represent the values of Communist revolutionary struggle in the twentieth century, the state is now presenting itself as the carrier and the defender of 5000 years of national cultural heritage. This undoubtedly arises partly from changes in moral attitude arising from the grass roots and partly from government initiatives descending from the top down. There is wide variation across China in the intermingling between the bottom-up and top-down moral impulses, and this is partially connected with different moral ecologies constituted by configurations of state and local political and economic institutions throughout China. In this paper, based on case studies from fieldwork carried out in several different locations in 2009, the author draws a broad map of these variations.
