Effect of Dietary Zinc Levels on the Growth Performance of Brooding Ostriches

Abstract:This experiment was conducted to study the effect of zinc levels on the growth performance and plasma parameters of brooding ostriches.One hundred and twenty 1-day-old ostriches were randomly assigned into 4 treatments(3 replicates of 10 ostriches / treatment).A basal diet supplemented with 60,90,120,150 mg/kg of zinc.The experiments lasted 2 months.the results showed that average weight,average intake were significant effect by the supplement zinc level for 1 to 2 month zinc levels in diet(P<0.05),however the FCR was not different among treatments(P>0.05).The supplement of zinc was significant effect on serum zinc and activity trend of AKP in serum.These findings indicated that the optimal supplement of zinc for the 1to 2 month ostriches was 90 mg/kg about growth performance and serum indexes.The basal diet was contain 32.4 mg/kg zinc.
