Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to present a necessary and sufficient condition which guarantees that an interior equilibrium of a certain predator–prey system is globally asymptotically stable. This ecological system is a model of Lotka–Volterra type whose prey population receives time-variation of the environment. We assume that the time-varying coefficient is weakly integrally positive and has a weaker property than uniformly continuous. Our necessary and sufficient condition is expressed by an improper double integral on the time-varying coefficient. Our work is inspired by the study of the stability theory for damped linear oscillators.

Abstract:In this paper, the exponential stability of a two-species competitive Lotka–Volterra system with discrete delays has been studied. By constructing appropriate Lyapunov functional and using the linear matrix inequality (LMI) optimization approach, a series of sufficient criteria is obtained which ensure the exponential stability of the positive equilibrium of the given Lotka–Volterra system. The results are new and improve some earlier work. An illustrative example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the obtained results.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the almost periodic dynamics of a multispecies Lotka-Volterra mutualism system with time varying delays on time scales. By establishing some dynamic inequalities on time scales, a permanence result for the model is obtained. Furthermore, by means of the almost periodic functional hull theory on time scales and Lyapunov functional, some criteria are obtained for the existence, uniqueness and global attractivity of almost periodic solutions of the model. Our results complement and extend some scientific work in recent years. Finally, an example is given to illustrate the main results.

Abstract:The Lotka-Volterra model of interacting populations is useful in the design of competitive self-organizing systems and neural networks. This paper investigates the dynamical behavior of periodic Lotka-Volterra systems with general time delays. Some sufficient conditions independent of inputs and delays are obtained for the boundedness of trajectories and the global stability of nonnegative periodic solutions. Abstract:This paper deals with a Lotka-Volterra time-varying delays. By using a transformational approach, we change the nonlinear Lotka-Volterra system into a linear model. Then, we present some new and simple conditions to guarantee the globally exponential stability of the positive solution of the linear model. Finally, an illustrated example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of our results.

Sufficient conditions are obtained for the permanence and global attractivity of the system. Further, by means of an almost periodic functional hull theory, we show that the almost periodic system has a unique strictly positive almost periodic solution, which is globally attractive. Abstract:This paper is concerned with a time-delayed Lotka–Volterra competition reaction–diffusion system with homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions. Some explicit and easily verifiable conditions are obtained for the global asymptotic stability of all forms of nonnegative semitrivial constant steady-state solutions. These conditions involve only the competing rate constants and are independent of the diffusion–convection and time delays. The result of global asymptotic stability implies the nonexistence of positive steady-state solutions, and gives some extinction results of the competing species in the ecological sense. The instability of the trivial steady-state solution is also shown.

Abstract:In this paper, a competitive Lotka–Volterra system with three delays is investigated. By choosing the sum τ of three delays as a bifurcation parameter, we show that in the above system, Hopf bifurcation at the positive equilibrium can occur as τ crosses some critical values. And we obtain the formulae determining direction of Hopf bifurcation and stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions by using the normal form theory and center manifold theorem. Finally, numerical simulations supporting our theoretical results are also included.

The nonexplosion, the boundedness, and the polynomial pathwise growth of the solution are determined once and for all by the same criterion.
