Abstract:According to the published ORF2 sequence of porcine circovirus type 2(PCV2) and ORF7 sequence of porcine reproductive and respiratory disease syndrome virus(PRRSV),the primers were designed and PCR and RT-PCR were set up for the detection of PCV2 and PRRSV,respectively.During Sep.2003 to May.2005,389 samples were collected from 193 suspected farms and detected for PRRSV by RT-PCR and for PCV2 by PCR.As a result,35 clinical samples from 33 farms were positive for PCV2.The positive rate of PCV2 in field was 17.1%,the co-infection rate of PRRSV/PCV2 in farms was 5.1%.The positive rate of PRRSV in PCV2-positive pigs was as high as 57.6%.The statistical results demonstrated that farms in Anhui province got the highest positive rate of PCV2 than other provinces,while farms in Anhui and Guangxi province got the highest rate of co-infection.The results indicated that PCV2 is more prevalent in Spring and Summer than it is in Autumn and Winter.The clinical symptoms of PCV2 associated diseases are mainly characterized by wasting and shag,and the gross lesions are characterized by edema or hemorrhage of lymph node,lung collapse and areas of consolidation in anterior ventral pulmonary areas,and kidney lesions.Furthermore,the study indicated that 7-8 week of age is the most susceptible period during the whole growing stages for pigs.
