Abstract:Lanzhou and Xi'ning,which account for the most population and economy of Gansu and Qinghai Province,are the nearest provincial capitalsin the west region,and the "X-model" hub region at the cross of the west Longhai-lanxin economy belt and Hubao-baolan-lanxin-qingzang economy belt converge.To some extent, they have the qualification and potential to become city region.The qualification and potential were analyzed in detail,and some researches on the optimum and recombination of the spatial structure of Lanzhou-Xi'ning City region were made.
