Abstract:With the frequent occurrence of mass incidents and the strained relations between officials and people in recent years, local Party committees and governments at various levels launched a large-scale campaign requiring their officials to make inspections in communities so as to strengthen the interaction between officials and the masses, to which the public gave both praise and doubt. This paper argues that the officials' community visits bear resemblance to the routines and thinking pattern of traditional undercover inspection, and they will not succeed in increasing cadre-people interaction and are not worth recommending. The real interaction between officials and people should be considered on the basis of the positive interaction between the country and society and be guaranteed with reasonable institutional arrangement. At this stage, we should pay special attention to strengthening the system of people's congresses, make officials' interaction become regular and long-term institution and establish the authority of the fundamental political system.
