Evaluation of Water Resources Carrying Capacity in Yunnan Province

Abstract:Programming of population function zoning is the basis of China's main functional areas that based on evaluation of water resources carrying capacity.This paper evaluated the water resources carrying capacity in Yunnan Province from three aspects such as basic evaluation,the potential of exploitation and the relationship between population and water resources.The water resources of Yunnan is rich in total,but distributes unevenly in space. The gross trends are: water resources are more in west less in east,and more in north less in south,more in mountainous area less in river valley and partial plain.The water resources exploitation and utilization degree is lower than the national level.It's difficult to construct the water conservancy facilities in Yunnan because of the topographical condition as mountains and altitudes in most regions in Yunnan. From the alalysis of population the status of water resources carrying capacity is good and more than 93.8% regions have surplus water resources in Yunnan.
