Abstract:In this letter, solutions of the discrete mKdV equation and discrete two-dimensional Toda equation in terms of product of up to two theta functions are given. To get the quasiperiodic solutions, this method is direct and simple which use only the identities of the theta functions.

Abstract:In the fields of non-commutative geometry and string theory, quantum tori appear in different mathematical and physical contexts. Therefore, quantized theta functions defined on quantum tori are also studied (Yu. I. Manin, A. Schwartz; note that a comparison between the two definitions of quantum theta is still an open problem). One important application of classical theta functions is in soliton theory. Certain soliton equations, including the KdV equation, have algebro-geometric solutions that are given by theta functions (we refer to F. Gesztesy and H. Holden), and as such belong to an "integrable hierarchy." While quantized integrability is a very active and complicated subject, in this work we take a different, naive approach. We conduct an experiment: using a definition of differentiation on quantum tori (M. Rieffel), we ask whether the quantum theta function satisfies non-linear PDE. The experiment is successful on the 2-torus and for the KdV equation. This opens the way to future investigations, such as the quest for a compatible hierarchy satisfied by quantum theta, and a consistent definition of complete integrability.

Abstract:From a proper 2 × 2 discrete isospectral problem, a new differential-difference integrable equation in Lax sense is proposed by a discrete zero curvature equation. The DDKdV (differential-difference DdV equation) proposed by Ohta and Hirota and DDCDGKS (DD Caudrey-Dodd-Gibbon-Kotera-Sawada equation) are rederived. Some other new discrete KdV equations, discrete mKdV equations and discrete high order KdV equations which converge to the corresponding continuous soliton equations in the continuum limit are obtained. Integrable time discretizations of the DDKdV, DDmKdV (differential-difference mKdV equation) and DDHOKdV (differential-difference high order KdV equations) are given.
A Riemann theta function formula with its application to double periodic wave solutions of nonlinear equations

Abstract:Based on a Riemann theta function and Hirota's bilinear form, a lucid and straightforward way is presented to explicitly construct double periodic wave solutions for both nonlinear differential and difference equations. Once such a equation is written in a bilinear form, its periodic wave solutions can be directly obtained by using an unified theta function formula. The relations between the periodic wave solutions and soliton solutions are rigorously established. The efficiency of our proposed method can be demonstrated on a class variety of nonlinear equations such as those considered in this paper, shall water wave equation, (2+1)-dimensional Bogoyavlenskii-Schiff equation and differential-difference KdV equation.
Solutions of distinct physical structures for two generalized KdV equations

Abstract:This paper deals with two generalized KdV equations which possess three high order nonlinear terms. A technique based on the reduction of order for solving differential equations and variable transformations is employed to find the bell type, kink type, solitary patterns, peakons and periodic solutions for the equations under several circumstances. It is shown that the exponents of the nonlinear terms, the wave speed of the solutions and the coefficients of the derivatives of the equations play a major role in the qualitative change of the physical structures of the solutions. Abstract:In this Letter, a variable-coefficient discrete (G′G)-expansion method is proposed to seek new and more general exact solutions of nonlinear differential–difference equations. Being concise and straightforward, this method is applied to the (2+1)-dimension Toda equation. As a result, many new and more general exact solutions are obtained including hyperbolic function solutions, trigonometric function solutions and rational solutions. It is shown that the proposed method provides a very effective and powerful mathematical tool for solving a great many nonlinear differential–difference equations in mathematical physics.
On Periodic Wave Solution and Asymptotic Property of KdV–Sawada–Kotera Equation

Abstract:Based on the Riemann theta function, the Hirota bilinear method is extended to directly construct periodic wave solutions of KdV-Sawada-Kotera equation. The relations among various data related to the Riemann theta functions are explicitly given by the Fourier series representation. The asymptotic property of the periodic wave solution of the KdV-Sawada-Kotera equation is analyzed in detail. It is shown that well-known soliton solution given by Hirota can be reduced from the periodic wave solution.

Abstract:The N=2a=−2 supersymmetric KdV equation is studied. A Darboux transformation and the corresponding Bäcklund transformation are constructed for this equation. Also, a nonlinear superposition formula is worked out for the associated Bäcklund transformation. The Bäcklund transformation and the related nonlinear superposition formula are used to construct integrable super semi-discrete and full discrete systems. The continuum limits of these discrete systems are also considered.

Abstract:Matrix integrals used in random matrix theory have been revealed to provide tau-functions for several hierarchies of soliton equations. In this article, we extend this relation by showing that such integrals can also provide tau-functions for the q-difference two-dimensional Toda lattice (q-2DTL) equation and its Pfaffianized system obtained by Pfaffianization. We consider a particular form of matrix integrals, which we show gives determinant solutions and Pfaffian solutions to the q-2DTL equation and its Pfaffianized system in different cases, respectively.
Stability of elliptic function solutions for the focusing modified KdV equation

Abstract:We study the spectral and orbital stability of elliptic function solutions for the focusing modified Korteweg-de Vries (mKdV) equation and construct the corresponding breather solutions to exhibit the stable or unstable dynamic behavior. The elliptic function solutions of the mKdV equation and related fundamental solutions of the Lax pair are exactly represented by theta functions. Based on the `modified squared wavefunction' (MSW) method, we construct all linear independent solutions of the linearized mKdV equation and then provide a necessary and sufficient condition of the spectral stability for elliptic function solutions with respect to subharmonic perturbations. In the case of spectrum stability, the orbital stability of elliptic function solutions is established in a suitable Hilbert space. Using Darboux-Bäcklund transformation, we construct breather solutions to exhibit unstable or stable dynamic behavior. Through analyzing the asymptotic behavior, we find that the breather solution under the cn-type solution background is equivalent to the elliptic function solution adding a small perturbation as $t\to\pm\infty$.

Abstract:Reciprocal transformations are introduced for two super Camassa–Holm (CH) equations. Under these transformations and appropriate changes of dependent variables, the super CH equation, proposed by Geng et al. [Stud. Appl. Math. 130, 1 (2013)], is converted to a negative member of the super Korteweg–de Vries (KdV) hierarchy studied by Geng and Wu in 2010 [Appl. Math. Lett. 23, 716 (2010)], while the other super CH equation, due to Zhang and Zuo [J. Math. Phys. 52, 073503 (2011)], is related to a new super KdV hierarchy. In the latter case, algebraic properties of this new super KdV hierarchy are established, including Hamiltonian operators, a recursion operator, and conserved quantities.

Abstract:In this paper we observe that isomorphism classes of certain metrized vector bundles over P^1-{0,infinity} can be parameterized by arithmetic quotients of loop groups. We construct an asymptotic version of theta functions, which are defined on these quotients. Then we prove the convergence and extend the theta functions to loop symplectic groups. We interpret them as sections of line bundles over an infinite dimensional torus, discuss the relations with loop Heisenberg groups, and give an asymptotic multiplication formula.

Abstract:By introducing the fractional derivative in the sense of Caputo and combining the pretreatment technique to deal with long nonlinear items, the generalized two-dimensional differential transform method is proposed for solving the time-fractional Hirota-Satsuma coupled KdV equation and coupled MKdV equation. The presented method is a numerical method based on the generalized Taylor series expansion which constructs an analytical solution in the form of a polynomial. The numerical results show that the generalized two-dimensional differential transform method is very effective for the fractional coupled equations.

Abstract:In this paper we consider a semigroup on trigonometric expansions $${\{{\mathcal T}_t: t \geq 0\}}$$ that will be called the Theta semigroup since its kernel is a multiple of θ3(x, q), the third Jacobi theta function. We study properties of this semigroup and prove that it is a positive diffusion semigroup. We also obtain that its subordinated semigroup is the classical Poisson semigroup. The extensions to higher dimensions and to periodic ultra distributions are also considered.

Abstract:Abstract In this paper we present an extended tanh method that utilizes symbolic computations to obtain more travelling wave solutions for two generalized Hirota-Satsuma coupled KdV systems in a unified way. The key idea of this method is to take full advantage of a Riccati equation involving a parameter and use its solutions to replace the tanh-function by the tanh method. It is quite interesting that the numbers and types of the traveling wave solutions can be judged from the sign of the parameter. Abstract:The KdV6 equation is an integrable soliton equation. By using the bilinear Bäcklund transformation, we derive the one and two Riemann theta function periodic wave solutions of the KdV6 equation. The dynamical behaviors of the periodic wave solutions are analyzed by numerical simulations. Finally, we establish the relations between the periodic wave solutions and the soliton solutions.

Abstract:Based on the Riemann theta function, the Hirota bilinear method is extended to directly construct a kind of explicit quasi-periodic solution of the Toda lattice equation.
