Abstract:Hangzhou is making great effort to build up the image of Oriental Leisure and holding the World Leisure Expo 2006.This paper tries to explore the cultural background of Hangzhou as a city of leisure,suggesting that the foundation of leisure is Zen and tea.Thus the author proposes to promote Hangzhou as the The City of Zen Buddhism to shape new international tourism image,by renovating Buddhist temple,visiting Buddhistic West Lake and tasting Buddhistic tea.Based on the development of Buddhist tourism, Hangzhou would establish its core competence as an international tourism destination.

Abstract:Sport-based leisure tourism meets the demand of urban residents for nature and health both at physical and mental condition.With the rapid development of social economy in cities and the increase of urbanite’s family income,sport-based leisure tourism will become an important component part of urban residents’ common life.Taking Hangzhou as an example and based on the analysis of the data from market survey,this paper conducted a comparative analysis on current situation and urbanite’s preference of sport-based leisure tourism and made a preliminary study and discussion on the features of the urbanites’ sport-based leisure tourism behavior.

Abstract:This essay provides a review on the recreational waterfront foreign literatures searched on SSCI and SCI databases,highlighting representative perspectives in the research that has been conducted to date.Study contents include four study modules of waterfront environment protection,waterfront recreation conflict,waterfront recreation management as well as waterfront recreation value evaluation.Differences in study contents exist between Chinese and foreign scholars in terms of research perspective,positioning of waterfront recreation on community and direction of waterfront recreational spatial development.Based on depth analysis of these differences,this essay briefly discusses the enlightenment on Chinese relevant studies.

Abstract:The author finds out that urbanization is a mass movement with predictable destinations.The welfare pursuit is the power of urbanization.The ultimate purpose of urbanization is to promote the welfare of residents and realize the sustainable development of human nature.Different approaches for urbanization can provide different levels of ecologic,economic and social resources,which caused the difference of welfare level.This paper also reviews the history of China's urbanization since 1949,and summarizes the problems and conflicts in the undergoing process of China's urbanization.The author concludes that only by selecting the approach of sustainable urbanization,inventing suitable system of institutional support,re-structuring the "City-Village" system,can we promote residents' welfare as much as possible,and boost China's urbanization in a better and faster way.

Abstract:The existence and development of cities is to make citizen's social production and daily life a better one. However, in the current process of urbanization, too much attention is paid on the industrial production. Little research to date has been focused on the livability of cities. Given this, this paper first reviewed the theoretical research and construction practice of livable city at home and abroad and then analyzed the problems of the new residential areas and old street areas from the community perspective. By using the case study and comparative analysis method, the paper also analyzed the interaction between China's urban growth pattern flaws and urban land use structure, as well as their impacts on existing residential pattern called residential district pattern of Modernism. The impact of the New Urbanism TND model on China's community construction is investigated and the difference between the residential districts and TND communities is also analyzed by using a practical case study in Gemdale Zizai City. Finally, the Chinese livable community model based on TND is proposed in the study, which provides a reference for theoretical research and construction practice on China's livable city.

Abstract:Leisure culture is the sum of leisure activities and elements which enable people to return to human nature and state of being human. It embraces triple structures and three basic features. The main contents of leisure culture are proper leisure concepts, generally accepted leisure values, consciously followed lifestyles and government-oriented leisure trends. The value and significance of leisure culture for urban development lie not only in its influence on the physical forms, but also the spirits of a city. The core value is that it enables the improvement of the city image, and makes the city more habitable, innovative and lively, so that the quality of life is upgraded. If the economic value of leisure is to provide an exterior driving force and catalyst for urban development, then its cultural value is to provide the interior driving force and DNA for urban development.
