The Community Basis for Constructing Harmonious Society:a Theoretic Exploration

Abstract:In this paper, the authors point out that a harmonieus society should be based on harmonious communities, and put forward a new ideal of how to construct a harmonious community. Through re-evaluating the connotations of community, the concrete characteristics and functions of modern community, and the contemporary practice of community development in China, they argue that a harmonious community should be such a space as to give different social groups an equal public life, to turn economie contradictions and social conflicts into social integration and cooperation, to accumulate residential ideas into local tradition and to support the social standards. Moreover, the authors give some operative advice for the construction of a harmonious community in the end.
