Abstract:We study the following semilinear impulsive differential equation with delay: u′(t)+Au(t)=f(t,u(t),ut),t>0,t≠ti,u(s)=ϕ(s),s∈[−r,0],Δu(ti)=Ii(u(ti)),i=1,2,…,00 is a constant and ut(s)=u(t+s), s∈[−r,0]. Here, Δu(ti)=u(ti+)−u(ti−) constitutes an impulsive condition, which can be used to model more physical phenomena than the traditional initial value problems. We assume that f(t,u,w) is T-periodic in t and then prove with some compactness conditions that if solutions of the equation are ultimately bounded, then the differential equation has a T-periodic solution. The new results obtained here extend some results in this area for differential equations without impulsive conditions or without delays.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the asymptotical stability of the exact solutions of nonlinear impulsive differential equations with the Lipschitz continuous function f(t,x) for the dynamic system and for the impulsive term Lipschitz continuous delayed functions Ik. In order to obtain numerical methods with a high order of convergence and that are capable of preserving the asymptotical stability of the exact solutions of these equations, impulsive discrete Runge–Kutta methods and impulsive continuous Runge–Kutta methods are constructed, respectively. For these different types of numerical methods, different convergence results are obtained and the sufficient conditions for asymptotical stability of these numerical methods are also obtained, respectively. Finally, some numerical examples are provided to confirm the theoretical results.

Exponential stability of linear periodic difference-delay equations

Abstract:This paper deals with the stability of linear periodic difference delay systems, where the value at time $t$ of a solution is a linear combination with periodic coefficients of its values at finitely many delayed instants $t-\tau_1,\ldots,t-\tau_N$. We establish a necessary and sufficient condition for exponential stability of such systems when the coefficients have Hölder-continuous derivative, that generalizes the one obtained for difference delay systems with constant coefficients by Henry and Hale in the 1970s. This condition may be construed as analyticity, in a half plane, of the (operator valued) harmonic transfer function of an associated linear control system.

Abstract:Existence and stability of solutions are important parts in the qualitative study of delay differential equations. The stabilizing by imposing proper impulse controls are used in many areas of natural sciences and engineering. This article provides sufficient conditions for the existence and exponential stabilization of solutions to delay impulsive differential equations of second-order with multiple delays. The main tools in this article are the Schaefer fixed point theorem, fixed impulse effects, and Lyapunov-Krasovskii functionals. The outcomes extend earlier results in the literature. Abstract:In this paper, existence and uniqueness of periodic solutions of second‐order semilinear impulsive differential equations are obtained. Some sufficient conditions that guarantee the existence of periodic solutions to second‐order linear nonhomogeneous impulsive differential equations are obtained. In addition, by using the appropriate fixed theorem and the theory of coincidence degree, some conditions ensuring the existence and uniqueness of periodic solution to second‐order semilinear impulsive differential systems are derived. Finally, some examples are provided to illustrate the availability of our results.

Qualitative Theory of Dynamical Systems

Abstract:Many phenomena in nature can be described by establishing differential equation models. To be more practical, we extend the instantaneous impulsive delay differential equations proposed by Faria and Oliveira to the non-instantaneous impulsive delay differential equations. This paper proposes a class of non-instantaneous impulsive delay differential equations which satisfy Yorke-type condition. With the help of the definitions of stability, sufficient conditions for stability and the global asymptotic stability of the zero solution of this model are given. Finally, we give some examples and numerical simulations.

Abstract:This paper investigates pth moment exponential stability of impulsive stochastic delayed differential systems with infinite delays. The main idea is to construct a positive function q(t) that is determined by the infinite delay. Results show that initially unstable systems are able to be stable with the impulse effects if the frequency and intensity are suitable. In the meanwhile, the corollaries give several sufficient conditions on the stability of systems in specific circumstances correspondingly. Finally, two numerical examples are performed to account for the effectiveness of the theoretical results.

Abstract:In this article, we study the existence and uniqueness of periodic solutions, and stability of the zero solution to the nonlinear neutral system $$ \frac{d}{dt}x(t)=A(t)h\big(x(t-\tau_1(t))\big)+\frac{d}{dt}Q\big(t,x(t-\tau_2(t))\big) +G\big(t,x(t),x(t-\tau_2(t))\big). $$ We use integrating factors to transform the neutral differential equation into an equivalent integral equation. Then we construct appropriate mappings and employ Krasnoselskii's fixed point theorem to show the existence of a periodic solution. We also use the contraction mapping principle to show the existence of a unique periodic solution and the asymptotic stability of the zero solution. Our results generalize the corresponding results in the existing literature. Abstract:Abstract In this paper, we describe a method to solve the problem of finding periodic solutions for second-order neutral delay-differential equations with piecewise constant arguments of the form x ′′( t ) + px ′′( t − 1) = qx ([ t ]) + f ( t ), where [⋅] denotes the greatest integer function, p and q are nonzero real or complex constants, and f ( t ) is complex valued periodic function. The method reduces the problem to a system of algebraic equations. We give explicit formula for the solutions of the equation. We also give counter examples to some previous findings concerning uniqueness of solution.

Abstract:The stability problem of aperiodic impulsive delay systems with unstable continuous and discrete dynamics is addressed in this article. New delay‐dependent stability conditions are proposed by employing a clock‐dependent Lyapunov–Krasovskii‐like functional composed of a Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional and a high‐order polynomial matrix function. The stability conditions are then solved using sum of squares programming techniques, yielding less conservative results than the looped‐functionals approach. Finally, the simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the results.

Abstract:In this work, we prove some new results concerning the class of Eberlein weakly almost periodic functions in Stepanov's sense. We prove that if the forcing term of a partial functional differential equation with infinite delay is Eberlein-weakly almost periodic in Stepanov's sense, then the solution is even Eberlein-weakly almost periodic. This shows that a less regular almost periodic behavior in the forcing term yields a more regular almost periodic behavior in the solution. The theoretical results are illustrated in the Lotka–Volterra model.

Abstract:In this work, we examine a third-order nonlinear neutral integro-differential equation with constant delay. By building a Lyapunov functional, we obtain some sufficient criteria that ensure the asymptotic stability and boundedness of solutions for an analyzed equation. We present two examples to demonstrate the applicability of our conclusions, which extend and improve several well-known results in the literature.

Abstract:This present paper deals with the problem of stabilization and destabilization of nonlinear stochastic differential delay equations. The key techniques used in this paper are the LaSalle-type stability theorems, the nonnegative semimartingale convergence theorem, and the law of large numbers for martingales. The proposed results can be applied to study the stabilization and destabilization of more general nonlinear stochastic dynamical time-delay systems. Computer simulations are presented to illustrate our theory.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the problem of asymptotic stability for a class of stochastic differential equations with impulsive effects. A sufficient criterion on asymptotic stability is derived for such impulsive stochastic differential equations via Lyapunov stability theory, bounded difference condition and martingale convergence theorem. The results show that the impulses can facilitate the stability of the stochastic differential equations when the original system is not stable. Finally, the feasibility of our results is confirmed by two numerical examples and their simulations.

Abstract:We consider a class of nonlinear impulsive systems with delayed impulses, where the time delays in impulses exist between two consecutive impulse instants. Based on the impulsive control theory and the ideas of average dwell time (ADT), a set of Lyapunov-based sufficient conditions for globally exponential stability are obtained. It is shown that the time delay in impulses exhibits double effects (i.e., negative or positive effects) on system dynamics, namely, it may destroy the stability and lead to undesired performance, and conversely, it may stabilize an unstable system and achieve better performance. Then, we apply the theoretical results to synchronization control of chaotic systems and design some impulsive controllers that are formalized in terms of linear matrix inequality and ADT-like conditions. Two numerical examples including chaotic cellular neural network and Chua's oscillator are given to illustrate the applicability of the presented impulsive control schemes. Our examples show that, under some conditions, the impulsive synchronization of chaotic systems can be achieved via the input delays in impulses.
