Abstract:This paper is aimed at introducing a simulation software based on the zone grid emergency evacuation model proposed by the author in case of a building fire. As is known, emergency evacuation is an important part of the performance-based fire-fighting and fireprotection design. Based on the analysis of some domestic and overseas safety simulation models and assimilating ideas of both at home and abroad in prepanng regional network models, we have worked out an evacuation model, known as the Zone Grid Evacuation Simulation Model (ZGEM) in this paper. The framework of the model has been founded in hope to dispose the building fire and the movement of personage with the essential information and data introduced. The characteristics of the ZGEM model lie in that a building can be divided into different functional units. In case of facing the fire danger, the distribution of people even at a great density can be guided based on the specific functions of the functional units, though the escaping speed of the fire sufferers may be likely affected by the human flow density in a certain area during the evacuation process. Furthermore, based on the zone grid evacuation simulation model, we have also developed a computer-programming Zone Grid Evacuation Simulation Software (ZGESS) on the platform of MATLAB, including an interface display window for demonstrating the location of each person at any point of time and the curve indicating the number of people staying in the building with the time elapsed. In addition, a case for simple evacuation simulation example has also been prepared with the help of the evacuation simulation software. The results of our trial use indicate that the programmed zone grid evacuation simulation software could be used to simulate the movement of the evacuation process. The visualization program is in a position to display the entire evacuation process in the different functional units of the building with the whole thing in it seen dynamically. Thus, the model proves to have been conceived logically and reasonably with its ZGESS program being creditable.
