Abstract:This study analyzes the modern university system from the educational quality self-protection Mechanisms based on the case of university of California,Berkeley.In the University of California,Berkeley,self-protection mechanisms mainly refer to the schools' and programs' self-assessment,which includes three categories.They are the university's self-assessment for social accountability,the school or college's self-assessment for accreditation,and the program's self-assessment for self-improvements.Base on the analysis of all kinds of self-assessments,the article summarizes two basic characters of modern university system: prioritizing the university autonomy and balancing social accountability;scientific management based on academic autonomy.
