Abstract:In this paper, a predator-prey system with diffusion and two delays is investigated. By analyzing the characteristic equations, the local stability of positive equilibrium and local Hopf bifurcations is discussed. Moreover, some explicit formulae for determining the stability and direction of Hopf bifurcation periodic solutions are obtained by using normal form theory and center manifold theory. The results we obtain can be used to provide reliable foundation for making control strategy.

Abstract:In this paper, we have considered a prey–predator model with Beddington-DeAngelis functional response and selective harvesting of predator species. Two delays appear in this model to describe the time that juveniles take to mature. Its dynamics are studied in terms of local analysis and Hopf bifurcation analysis. By analyzing the associated characteristic equation, its linear stability is investigated and Hopf bifurcations are demonstrated. The stability and direction of the Hopf bifurcation are determined by applying the normal form method and the center manifold theory. Numerical simulation results are given to support the theoretical predictions.

Abstract:Abstract In this paper, we consider a Beddington-DeAngelis predator-prey system with stage structure for predator and time delay incorporating prey refuge. By analyzing the characteristic equations, we study the local stability of the equilibrium of the system. Using the delay as a bifurcation parameter, the model undergoes a Hopf bifurcation at the coexistence equilibrium when the delay crosses some critical values. After that, by constructing a suitable Lyapunov functional, sufficient conditions are derived for the global stability of the system. Finally, the influence of prey refuge on densities of prey species and predator species is discussed.

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to study a predator–prey model with Allee effect and double time delays. This research examines the dynamics of the model, with a focus on positivity, existence, stability and Hopf bifurcations. The stability of the periodic solution and the direction of the Hopf bifurcation are elucidated by applying the normal form theory and the center manifold theorem. To validate the correctness of the theoretical analysis, numerical simulations were conducted. The results suggest that a weak Allee effect delay can promote stability within the model, transitioning it from instability to stability. Nevertheless, the competition delay induces periodic oscillations and chaotic dynamics, ultimately resulting in the population's collapse.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider a diffusive Lotka–Volterra predator–prey system with spatial heterogeneity and two delays. We first show that there exists a nonconstant positive steady state when the diffusion rates of prey and predator are large. Then, we obtain the stability of the steady state and show the existence of a Hopf bifurcation. Moreover, some numerical simulations are provided to illustrate our theoretical results.

Abstract:In this paper, we mainly investigate a delayed predator–prey model with stage structure for prey and Ivlev-type functional response. Four assumptions about this model are made as follows: (1) there are a single predator and a single prey population in the model; (2) the prey is divided by the age into two stage structures, immature and mature; (3) the trophic transfer from prey to predator is incomplete; (4) there are two time delays due to the time of maturation of prey and the time of gestation of predator. Some properties of equilibria for the model without delays are provided. Further, the stability of equilibria and existence of Hopf bifurcation are studied by discussing the different cases of time delays for the model with delays. We observe that delays can cause a stable equilibrium to become unstable one, even occur Hopf bifurcation when delays pass through their corresponding critical values. Meanwhile, we derive explicit formulae to determine the properties of Hopf bifurcation such as the direction of Hopf bifurcation and the stability of periodic solutions. Numerical simulations of all theoretical analyses are given for verifying our theoretical results. In the present work, we demonstrate that the validity and universality of oscillations induced by the time delays both theoretically and numerically. These results of this paper may be helpful for us to further understand the role of the critical values of time delays in stabilizing the predator–prey model.

Abstract:In this paper, a predator–prey model with age structure, Beddington–DeAngelis functional response and time delays is considered. Using a geometric method for studying transcendental equation with two delays, we conduct detailed analysis on the distribution of the roots for the characteristic equation of the model. Then, applying the integrated semigroup theory and the Hopf bifurcation theorem for an abstract Cauchy problem within a nondense domain, we proved the existence of Hopf bifurcation for the model. Stability switches can also occur, as the two time delays pass through a continuous curve in the parameter plane. To illustrate the theoretical results, numerical simulations are presented.

Abstract:A diffusive predator-prey system with a delay and surplus killing effect subject to Neumann boundary conditions is considered. When the delay is zero, the prior estimate of positive solutions and global stability of the constant positive steady state are obtained in details. When the delay is not zero, the stability of the positive equilibrium and existence of Hopf bifurcation are established by analyzing the distribution of eigenvalues. Furthermore, an algorithm for determining the direction of Hopf bifurcation and stability of bifurcating periodic solutions is derived by using the theory of normal form and center manifold. Finally, some numerical simulations are presented to illustrate the analytical results obtained.

Abstract:A predator-prey model with predator-age structure and predator-prey reaction time delay τ1 is investigated. We consider the predator fertility function as a piecewise function related to predator development time τ2. Considering the complexity of the characteristic equation, we theoretically prove that a non-trivial periodic oscillation phenomena through Hopf bifurcation appears when parameter τ1=τ2:=τ passes through some critical values, by employing the integrated semigroup theory and Hopf bifurcation theory for semilinear equations with non-dense domain. We perform model calibration, data fitting and parameter estimation by utilizing real data, and analyze the rationality and deficiencies of our model. The corresponding theoretical results are certificated by numerical simulations. Additionally, when τ1 and τ2 take different values, we numerically analyze their influence on the model and conclude that the dynamic behavior of the system around the positive equilibrium changes between local asymptotic stability and sustained periodic oscillations.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider a diffusive predator–prey system with strong Allee effect and two delays. First, we explore the stability region of the positive constant steady state by calculating the stability switching curves. Then we derive the Hopf and double Hopf bifurcation theorem via the crossing directions of the stability switching curves. Moreover, we calculate the normal forms near the double Hopf singularities by taking two delays as parameters. We carry out some numerical simulations for illustrating the theoretical results. Both theoretical analysis and numerical simulation show that the system near double Hopf singularity has rich dynamics, including stable spatially homogeneous and inhomogeneous periodic solutions. Finally, we evaluate the influence of two parameters on the existence of double Hopf bifurcation.
