Abstract:Objective To explore effects of implicit/explicit achievement motives on subjective well-being.Methods A total of 72 college students completed Achievement Motivation Scale and index of well-being scale.Their implicit achievement motivation was measured by Implicit Association Test (IAT).Results ①The implicit and explicit achievement motives were two relatively independent motivational systems.②Explicit achievement motive correlated positively significantly to subjective well-being(r=0.311,P<0.01),yet the implicit achievement motive showed no significant influence on subjective well-being.③The relationship between explicit achievement motive and subjective well-being was regulated by implicit achievement motive.Among people with low implicit achievement motive, explicit achievement motivation had no significant prediction to subjective well-being (β=0.082,t=0.549,P=0.584);among people with high implicit achievement motivation, explicit achievement motive positively significantly predicted subjective well-being(β=0.525,t=3.650,P<0.001).Conclusion Explicit achievement motivation is closely connected to subjective well-being.The relationship between explicit achievement motive and subjective well-being is regulated by implicit achievement motive.
