Abstract:The cuttage grafting,root-cutting grafting and tongue approach grafting were used to study their effects on melon resistance to Fusarium wilt. The results showed that all the three grafting methods could significantly improve the resistance to Fusarium wilt for melon, but no differences were observed among the three grafting methods employed in this study. After incubation of Fusarium, the root vigor, chlorophyll content, activities of SOD,POD and PAL in the root increased, whereas the MDA content and relative conductivity decreased significantly in the grafted plants,as compared with the non-grafted melon plants. The enhanced resistance of grafted seedlings to Fusarium wilt could be attributed to the alleviation of oxidative stress caused by the antioxidant system and the improved activity of PAL.As a result, the physiological functions were maintained properly in the roots and leaves.
