Abstract:The asymptotic stability and the switching strate gy are studied in this paper for discrete switched systems with time delay subsys tems. Based on Lyapunov stability theory, two different sufficient conditions ar e derived via LMI approach for the asymptotic stability under arbitrary switchin g. Furthermore, this paper develops the convex combination conditions for asympt otic stability of such systems and gives the way to choose switching strategy. T he simulation result proves the validity of the designed switching strategy.

Abstract:The asymptotic stability of switched systems whose subsystems are time delay systems is studied in this paper.The sufficient condition is firstly derived via LMI approach for the asymptotic stability of such system under arbitrary switching.Secondly,the paper develops the convex combination conditions for asymptotic stability of such system and how to choose switching strategy.The simulation result shows the validity of the designed switching strategy.

Abstract:The stability of a class of switched stochastic nonlinear retarded systems with asynchronous switching controller is investigated. By constructing a virtual switching signal and using the average dwell time approach incorporated with Razumikhin-type theorem, the sufficient criteria for pth moment exponential stability and global asymptotic stability in probability are given. It is shown that the stability of the asynchronous stochastic systems can be guaranteed provided that the average dwell time is sufficiently large and the mismatched time between the controller and the systems is sufficiently small. This result is then applied to a class of switched stochastic nonlinear delay systems where the controller is designed with both state and switching delays. A numerical example illustrates the effectiveness of the obtained results.

Abstract:The global exponential stability for switched neutral systems with time-varying delays and nonlinear perturbations is investigated in this paper. LMI-based delay-dependent criterion is proposed to guarantee exponential stability for our considered systems under any switched signal. Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional and Leibniz-Newton formula are applied to find the stability results. Free weighting matrix and linear matrix inequality (LMI) approaches are used to solve the proposed conditions.

Abstract:This note is concerned with the exponential stability of switched systems for any switching sequence. The systems under consideration are consisted of two linear subsystems with delay. Firstly, the quadratic and piecewise quadratic lire constructed and the stability conditions are derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities. Secondly, through the state transformation and the integral inequality, it is verified that the exponential decay rate is definitely determined by the structure of subsystems. Finally, numerical examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of our results.

Abstract:For a given continuous-time switched system, its stability is determined by (i) the structure of the system; (ii) the admissible switching set; and (iii) the duration time in each subsystem. Both (ii) and (iii) are stability characterizations of switching dynamics for continuous-time switched systems. In this paper, we introduce a new type of characteristic exponent, the Liao-type exponent, which is computable, to capture the stability feature of continuous-time switched systems. We obtain two criteria of asymptotic exponential stability for linear and nonlinear cases by estimating the corresponding Liao-type exponents, respectively. The proposed approach is constructive and the obtained results allow existence of switching constraints. Several examples are provided to illustrate theoretical outcomes of the paper.

Abstract:By using the state-dependent switching control strategy, the switching rule design for global exponential stability with??∞performance of uncertain switched nonlinear systems with time-varying delay is considered. By using a Lyapunov-Krasovskii(LK) function technique, sufficient conditions for the existence of a class of stabilizing switching laws are derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities(LMIs) to guarantee the switched time delay system to be exponentially stable. The free weighting matrix and integral-inequality approaches are used to find the less conservative stability results. Numerical examples are provided to show the effectiveness and less conservativeness of the proposed methods.

Abstract:Inspired by the idea of multiple Lyapunov functions (MLFs), we use piecewise continuous scalar functions to investigate the stabilizability of time-varying switched systems. Starting with time-varying switched linear systems, we first combine the idea of MLFs with the existence of asymptotically (exponentially, uniformly exponentially) stable functions to provide necessary and sufficient conditions for their asymptotic (exponential, uniform exponential) stabilizability. Compared to traditional differential Lyapunov inequalities, we release the requirement on negative definiteness of the derivatives of MLFs. Successively, the above results are extended to time-varying switched nonlinear systems. Then, two illustrative examples are given to show the applicability of our theoretical results. In the end, we consider the computation issue of our current results for a special class of nonautonomous switched systems. i.e., rational nonautonomous switched systems.

Abstract:We consider switched dynamical systems consisting of two linear subsystems with delay.The problem is to find conditions guaranteeing exponential stability of the system for any switching sequence.Both quadratic and piecewise quadratic construction of Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional is exploited,from which the stability criteria in terms of linear matrix inequalities are derived.Furthermore,based on the state transformation combining with integral inequality technique,it is strictly verified that the exponential decay rate holds uniformly for all switching sequence,and is definitely determined by the structure of subsystems.Numerical examples are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of our results.

Abstract:The paper studied the stability properties of a class of linear timevariant switched systems and their systems with certain nonlinear perturbations under certain switching laws. First, it establishes sufficient conditions for exponential stability of linear timevariant swiched systems under arbitrary swiching laws. Then, it studies the above timevariant linear switched systems with certain nonlinear perturbations term. Under reasonable assumptions, global exponential stability is established for these systems. Finally, it gives a numerical example to illustrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results.

Abstract:This article investigates the stability of positive switched linear systems. We start from motivating examples and focus on the case when each switched subsystem is marginally stable (in the sense that all the eigen-values of the subsystem matrix are in the closed left-half plane with those on the imaginary axis simple) instead of asymptotically stable. A weak excitation condition is first proposed such that the considered positive switched linear system is exponentially stable. An extension to the case without dwell time assumption is also presented. Then, we study the influence of time-varying delay on the stability of the considered positive switched linear system. We show that the proposed weak excitation condition for the delay-free case is also sufficient for the asymptotic stability of the positive switched linear system under unbounded time-varying delay. In addition, it is shown that the convergence rate is exponential if there exists an upper bound for the delay, irrespective of the magnitude of this bound. The motivating examples are revisited to illustrate the theoretical results.

Abstract:This paper investigates the problems of exponential stability analysis and stabilization for switched systems with time-varying delay via a new approach. To study the problems, the original system is transformed into an interconnection system, which is composed of a feedback subsystem and a forward one with a constant delay and an uncertainty disturbance. The exponential stability condition is presented to guarantee the α-input–output stability of the interconnection system based on the scaled small gain theorem, which is further proved to guarantee the exponential stability of the original system under arbitrary switching signal. Then the switching law existence condition is also proposed for exponential stabilization without input signal. Moreover, the problem of stabilization is further solved with admissible controllers obtained via convex optimizations. Both the problems are solved based on the model transformation method and the input–output approach. The merit of the proposed results lies in its reduced conservatism, which is made possible by a precise approximation of the time-varying delay and the scaled small gain theorem. The superiority and effectiveness of our results over the existing ones are illustrated via some numerical examples.

Abstract:In this paper we study the characterization of asymptotic stability for discrete-time switched linear systems. We first translate the system dynamics into a symbolic setting under the framework of symbolic topology. Then by using the ergodic measure theory, a lower bound estimate of Hausdorff dimension of the set of asymptotically stable sequences is obtained. We show that the Hausdorff dimension of the set of asymptotically stable switching sequences is positive if and only if the corresponding switched linear system has at least one asymptotically stable switching sequence. The obtained result reveals a underlying fundamental principle: a switched linear system either possesses uncountable numbers of asymptotically stable switching sequences or has none of them, provided that the switching is arbitrary.

Abstract:This paper deals with a class of uncertain nonlinear impulsive switched systems with time-varying delays. A novel type of piecewise Lyapunov functionals is constructed to derive the exponential stability. This type of functionals can efficiently overcome the impulsive and switching jump of adjacent Lyapunov functionals at impulsive switching times. Based on this, a delay-independent sufficient condition of exponential stability is presented by minimum dwell time. Finally, an illustrative numerical example is given to show the effectiveness of the obtained theoretical results.

Abstract:This paper focuses on the stability analysis and stabilization problem for a class of uncertain switched delay systems with Lévy noise and flexible switching signals which unify the high-frequency switching and low-frequency switching. By employing the theory of switched systems, mathematical induction and stochastic analysis technique, some sufficient conditions in form of algebraic inequalities are derived to guarantee the stability and stabilization of such systems. Different from dwell time and average dwell time, the proposed switching rule constrained the partial dwell-time shows that the switching number in the same time interval can be more elastic. Finally, numerical examples are implemented to illustrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate asymptotic stability, exponential stability and uniformly exponential stability of non-autonomous switched systems, respectively. Starting with non-autonomous switched linear systems, we firstly provide necessary and sufficient conditions for its asymptotic stability and exponential stability based on the existence of an asymptotically stable function and an exponentially stable function. Successively, a sufficient condition for uniformly exponential stability of a non-autonomous switched linear system is proposed by the existence of an uniformly exponentially stable function. Based on this sufficient condition, we further derive a sufficient condition for local uniformly exponential stability of non-autonomous switched nonlinear systems. In the end, an illustrative example is given to show the applicability of our theoretical results.
