Abstract:A novel heteropolyoxometallate with the formula [H3NNH3]2K2MnMo9O32·(NH3)·3H2O has been prepared in water solution. The crystal structure of the title compound was determined by the single-crystal method. This new mixed metal anionic complex crystallizes in the rhombohedral space group R3 (No. 146) with a=b=15.873(5), c=12.344(6) Å, γ=120°. The disordered structure contains three molecules in the unit cell. Full-matrix least-squares refinements of the title complex yielded final reliability (R) factors of 0.0356 (Rw=0.0868) with a goodness-of-fit (GOF, Σ2) value of 1.099 based on 1430 [I>2σ(I)] observed reflections. All Mo and Mn atoms are six-coordinated octahedrally to form a Mn-centered cage with a Mo9O32 group as the framework.

Abstract:The compound [NH(3)(CH(2))(2)NH(2)(CH(2))(2)NH(3)](2)[Mo(9)O(30)] was synthesized at 170 degrees C via hydrothermal techniques from the starting materials of Na(2)MoO(4).H(2)O, NH(2)(CH(2))(2)NH(CH(3))(2)NH(2), and H(2)O. The compound crystallizes in the space group C2/c of the monoclinic system with a = 21.308(4) A, b = 9.234(2) A, c = 19.195(4) A, beta = 120.27(3) degrees, V = 3261.9(11)A(3), Z = 4. Two novel and symmetrically related helices coexist in the centrosymmetric solid, in which the two kinds of helices appear in the left-handed and right-handed enantiomorphs, respectively. This is the first example of a helical chain structure consisting of only molybdenum-oxide building blocks. The central axis about each helical chain is a 2-fold screw axis.

Abstract:The hydrothermal reaction of Na2MoO4. 2H(2)O, SmCl3 in acidified H2O/CH3CN solution gives rise to the title compound as colorless needle crystals, which was characterized by elemental analysis, IR and X-ray single-crystal diffraction techniques. Crystallographic data: Orthorhombic, Pnma, H3Mo3NaO11, M-r = 489.83, a = 8.411(2), b = 7.566(2), c = 14.359(3) Angstrom, V = 913.8(3) Angstrom (3), Z = 4, D-c = 3.560 g.cm(-3), mu = 4.148 mm(-1), F(000) = 912, the final R = 0.0649 and wR = 0.1569 for 1885 observed reflections with I greater than or equal to 2 sigma, (I). The title compound consists of infinite chains built up by distorted {MoO6} octahedra via edge sharing, which are further connected into a three-dimensional framework by sodium ions and protoned water molecules.

Abstract:Two new members of Mo(V) phosphates were synthesized by hydrothermal methods. (enH 2 )(enH)[NaMo 12 O 24 (OH) 6 (HPO 4 ) 2 (H 2 PO 4 ) 6 ]·(en) 4 ·20H 2 O (1) (en=H 2 NCH 2 CH 2 NH 2 )[HAD-H 2 ] 2 [HAD-H] 2 [Zn 3 Mo 12 O 24 (OH) 6 (PO 4 ) 2 (HPO 4 ) 6 ]·6H 2 O ( 2 ) (HAD=H 2 N(CH 2 ) 6 NH 2 ). Compound 1 crystallized in the space group P 2(1)/ n , a =15.93120(10) Å, b =15.8946(2) Å, c =17.0665(2) Å, V =4316.02(8), β =92.9060(10)°, Z =2. Compound 2 crystallized in the space group P (−1) with a =12.3726(3) Å, b =14.1948(3) Å, c =14.2310(4) Å, α =72.7100(10), β =65.0230(10), γ =69.5600(10)°, Z =2089.70(9) Å 3 , and Z =1. The structure of 1 consists of sandwich-shaped cluster anion [Na{Mo V 6 O 12 (OH) 3 (HPO 4 )(H 2 PO 4 ) 3 } 2 ] 3− ( {Na(Mo V 6 ) 2 } ) held together via intermolecular hydrogen-bonding contacts. For the compound 2 , the sandwich-shaped clusters Zn[Mo 6 O 12 (OH) 3 (PO 4 )(HPO 4 ) 3 ] 2 ( {Zn(Mo V 6 ) 2 } are linked by tetrahedrally-coordinated zinc into layers. Organic cations ([H 3 N(CH 2 ) 6 NH 3 ] 2+ and [H 3 N(CH 2 ) 6 NH 2 ] + ) are filled in the spaces between lamellas. The layers are held together by a hydrogen-bonded network, which involves the terminal phosphate P-OH groups, as well as organic cations and several waters of solvation.

Abstract:Organoammoinium polyoxomolybdate [(enH)(2)(H2Mo6O20)](infinity). was formed in autogeneous pressure at 160 degrees C for 120 h. The colorless crystals of polyoxomolybdate were characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystals are in monoclinic system with a space group P2(1)/n and a = 8.0844(16), b = 14.413(3), c = 8.9153(18) angstrom, beta = 98.12(3)degrees, V = 1013.8(4) angstrom(3), Z = 4. The final R = 0.0375, wR = 0.0706 for 2370 reflections [I > sigma(I-0)]. The crystals are constructed by one-dimension infinite inorganic chains with Mo6O20 unit as building block and protonated ethylenediamine cations located in between the inorganic chains. There are many hydrogen bonds between the chains and between the chains and the cations. IR spectrum of the title compound exhibited the vibration absorption of Mo=O, Mo-O-Mo bonds and protonated ethylenediamine cations, and suggests the presence of N-H-O and O-H-O hydrogen bonds. Quantum calculation gives the distribution of charges and the composition of frontier molecular orbits. From the calculation results, it can be inferred that protonation must have occurred on the terminal oxygen atom (O3) due to its smallest charge value and the terminal oxygen atom (O3) forms hydrogen bonds with the O12 atoms of the adjacent chain (2.936 angstrom); and that Mol atom will first receive the reduced electron. The electron transition taking place between HOMO and LUMO belongs basically to O -> Mo charge transfer transition. (c) 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract:Lead titanate nanostructures with different phases and morphologies, layered hexagonal PbTiO2(CO3)(0.3)- (NO3)(0.35)(OH) nanosheets, pyrochlore Pb2Ti2O6 nanodendites, pre-perovskite PbTiO3 nanofibres and perovskite PbTiO3 nanoplates, have been synthesized via a conventional hydrothermal route assisted with different concentrations of tetramethylammonium hydroxide (TMAH). X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and high-resolution TEM (HRTEM) were employed to characterize the phase, morphology and growth behavior of the synthesized samples. The results reveal that at low TMAH concentration the obtained samples are mainly of PbTiO2(CO3)(0.3)(NO3)(0.35)(OH) nanosheets. With the TMAH concentration increasing, the obtained samples change to pyrochlore Pb2Ti2O6 nanodendites, pre-perovskite PbTiO3 nanofibres and perovskite PbTiO3 nanoplates in turn. With the basis of the experimental results, the phase- and morphology-evolution mechanism of the lead titanate nanostructures is discussed by combining the analysis of the lattice structure feature and the properties of TMAH.

Abstract:The crystal structure of the title compound, [enH2][Fe{MoV6O12(OH)3(HPO4)-(H2PO4)3}2].6en.6H2O (en = H2NCH2CH2NH2), hydrothermally synthesized from a mixture of Na2MoO4@2H2O, Fe2(SO4)3, H3PO4, H2N(CH2)2NH2 and water, has been determined by singlecrystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal is of triclinic, space group P1- with a = 11.9014(1), b =13.4246(2), c = 13.8719(2) A, α= 87.465(1), β= 69.981(1), γ= 64.960(1)°, V= 1873.46(4) A3, Z=1, Mr = 2997.89, F(000) = 1466,μ = 2.427 mm-1 and Dc = 2.657 g/cm3. The final R = 0.0404 for 5570 observed reflections (Ⅰ＞ 2σ(Ⅰ)). The structural analysis reveals that each cluster anion contains two coplanar {Mo6} rings of six edge-sharing Mo(O5OH) octahedra, and the two {Mo6} rings are linked together through one octahedral FeⅡ ion to generate a sandwich-type cluster with rigorous (1-) symmetry. Moreover, these clusters are further linked into a three-dimensional framework by hydrogen bonds.

Abstract:Two new polyoxomolybdate compounds, namely [Cu-2(II)(HL)(3)](2) [Mo8O26]center dot(H2O)(4) and (1) and [Ni-II(HL)(3)](2)(Mo8O26]center dot(H2O)(3) (HL=3-{2-Pyridyl)pyrazole), were designed and synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. X-ray diffraction analyses reveal that compound 1 consists of one beta-Mo8O264- cluster and a Cu-2 dimer which is built from two Cu(II) ions linked by three 3-(2-pyridyl)pyrazole ligands. Compound 2 is generated by two kinds of polyoxomolybdate clusters of alpha-[Mo8O26](4-) and beta-[Mo8O26](4-). In complexes 1 and 2, the multi-dimensional frameworks are constructed with the help of hydrogen-bonding links between the terminaloxygen atoms of [Mo8O26](4-), water molecules, and 3-(2-pyridyl)pyrazole ligands. Abstract:The title compound, (C7H11N2O)(4) [Mo8O26], was synthesized by hydrothermal reaction of an acidified aqueous solution of Na2Mo2O4.2H(2)O, N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-4-aminopyridine sulfate and Zn(CH3COO)(2).4H(2)O. Single X-ray crystal analysis reveals that the structure of the title compound consists of a centrosymmetric beta-octamolybdate anion and N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-4-aminopyridinium cations. The Mo-O bond lengths are in the range 1.687 (4)-1.708 (4) Angstrom for terminal Mo-O bonds and 1.759 (4)-2.437 (4) Angstrom for the Mo-O bonds shared by two or more neighboring {MoO6} octahedra. The O-H...O hydrogen-bond lengths are 2.677 (8)-2.804 (8) Angstrom, and the N-H...N hydrogen-bond lengths are 2.905 (8)- 3.033 (7) Angstrom.

Abstract:W/Mo-oxides of the hexagonal tungsten bronze (HTB) type have been investigated by X-ray absorption spectroscopy to obtain detailed insight into the substitution process of W by Mo that leads to mixed HTB frameworks. Both the morphology of the nanostructured W/Mo-HTBs as well as the oxidation state of Mo are significantly influenced through the incorporation of different alkali cations into the hexagonal channels of this open structure. A variety of complementary analytical methods, including TG, in situ and ex situ XRD, SEM, and solid-state NMR analyses, were applied to determine the thermal stability of the obtained W/Mo-HTB materials with respect to their alkali cation and NH4+ contents. A strong correlation between composition and stability was found with the Rb-W/Mo-HTBs exhibiting the highest structural and morphological resistance among the series (up to 580 degrees C). The NH3-sensing properties of selected W/Mo-oxides in test atmospheres furthermore point to promising features of the Rb-stabilized hexagonal framework materials.

Abstract:Hydrated molybdenum bronzes have been prepared by reduction reaction of MoO3 with NaBH4 in ethanol and DMSO. The reduction reactions in both solvents occur smoothly; thus, the layered structure of MoO3 is maintained in the product. Divalent cation Ca2+ has been intercalated between the MoO3 layers, which leads to highly reduced molybdenum bronze (Mo5.26+). Solvated molybdenum bronze catalyzes the reduction reaction of DMSO by NaBH4, producing CH3SCH3. The structure model of hydrated sodium molybdenum bronze has also been reinvestigated by using the Rietveld analysis. The hydrated molybdenum bronze crystallizes in an orthorhombic structure, in which the structure of Mo octahedron layers is closely related to that in MoO3. However, the structure refinement reveals that the Mo octahedron in the MoO3 layers is axially distorted, which is different from that in MoO3 but similar to an isoelectron compound H0.33MoO3.

Abstract:Solid-state reaction of (NH4)(6)Mo7O24.4H(2)O with Bu(4)NBr and NH2OH.HCl at low temperature yields an isopolyoxomolybdate [Bu(4)N](+)(6)[H3O](+)(2)[Mo13O40](4-)(2), the structure of which has been determined by X-ray crystallography. The title compound contains two [Mo13O40](4-) anions which have different symmetry. Both anions have Keggin-type structures with a molybdenum atom centre.

Abstract:A novel lanthanum molybdenyl iodate, La(MoO2)(OH)(IO3)4, has been prepared by hydrothermal reactions at 170°C. The X-ray single-crystal structural analysis showed that it crystallizes in the polar and chiral space group P21 with a=7.0513(7)Å, b=14.225(1)Å, c=7.1206(8)Å, β=115.653(8)°, Z=2, R1/wR2=0.0269/0.0608 for 2828 observed reflections, and 191 parameters. La(MoO2)(OH)(IO3)4 contains a complex three-dimensional network formed by eight co-ordinated La3+ cations, strongly distorted octahedral Mo(VI) centers, and bridging iodate anions. Infrared spectra further confirmed the presence of MoO66− and IO3− groups as well as MoOH interactions.

Abstract:In the study of the Rb2MoO4–CoMoO4–Hf(MoO4)2 system a new compound, Rb5Hf1.5Сo0.5(MoO4)6, was obtained, which was synthesized by ceramic technology at 530°С for 80 h in air. Rb5Hf1.5Сo0.5(MoO4)6 single crystals were grown by spontaneous crystallization from a melt solution. Synthesized molybdate melt incongruently at 670 °C. The crystal structure has been refined using single-crystal X-ray diffraction data. Triple molybdate Rb5Hf1.5Сo0.5(MoO4)6 (a = 10.6169(4) Å, c = 38.1282(5) Å. V = 3722.02(2) Å3; space group R 3 ‾ c, Z = 6) is characterized by the heteropolyhedral open MT-framework formed by two types of MO6-octahedra and one type of MoO4-tetrahedron. Both MO6-octahedra are predominantly occupied by hafnium with the admixture of cobalt, but characterized by the different ratio between them. Large Rb + cations fill the large cavities and occupy A(1)O9- and A(2)O12-polyhedra. The topological features of the heteropolyhedral open MT-framework in related molybdates with the general formula A x B y C z (MoO4) n are discussed.

Abstract:Reaction in methanol solution of [NBu4]4[Mo8O26] with 1,3,5,7-tetraazatricyclo[3.3.1.13.7]decane (hexamethylenetetramine, hmt) and salicylaldehyde yielded the complex [Hhmt][Mo2O4(µ-O)(µ-OMe)(o-OC6H4CHNCH2NCHC6H4O-o)] which has been characterized by elemental analysis, IR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. A single-crystal analysis revealed that the complex possesses the usual Mo2O52+ core and that the Schiff-base ligand complexes in a tetradentate manner through the atoms ONON, acts forming two six-membered rings. The two Mo atoms are bridged by a methoxo group, giving each a distorted-octahedral configuration.

Abstract:A novel polyoxometalate [Co(C2N2H8)3]4[MoV2MoVI14VIV16O80(PO4)2]·10H2O 1 has been hydrothermal synthersized from the rection mixture of V2O5, CoCl2·2H2O, Na2MoO4·2H2O, ethylenediamine(en), H3PO3 and H2O in a reasonable yield(48%). The X-ray crystallography shows that 1 containing two types of typical heteropoly anions: tetra-capping Keggin anions and hexadecametal host shell anions. This is the first structurally characterized example of a heteropoly compound containing two types of anions. In compound 1, the Co2+ cations are coordinated by three ethylendiamine ligands, and [Co(en)3]2+ cations link the metal–oxygen cluster anions, to form a extensive three-dimensional supramolecular assembly through the hydrogen bonding. Compound 1 crystallallizes in the tetragonal with space group I4/mcm, a=b=19.6613(19), c=33.738(5)Å, V=13042(3)Å3.

Abstract:The hydrothermal reaction of (NH(4))(6)Mo(7)O(24).4H(2)O, CuCl(2).2H(2)O, and 4,4'-bipyridine yields bipyridine-ligated copper-trimolybdate monohydrate [Cu(4,4'-bipy)(H(2)O)(Mo(3)O(10))].H(2)O in the monoclinic system with space group of C(2/c) and cell parameters of a = 15.335(2) A, b = 15.535(2) A, c = 15.106(2) A, beta = 101.162(2) degrees, V = 3530.7(9) A(3), and Z = 8. Its structure consists of one-dimensional infinite ([Mo3O10]2-)( infinity ) chains linked through [Cu2(H2O)2(4,4'-bipy)] units. The Mo-O chain contains distorted [MoO(6)] octahedra connected through corner-sharing oxygen atoms into infinite chains along the c direction and each chain is located in the channel formed by four adjacent crossing chains of [Cu(4,4'-bipy)(H2O)](n)(2n+). The crystal shows weak conductivity through Mo-O chain along the c direction and insulating property along either a or b direction. Furthermore, a crystalline bimetallic oxide, CuMo3O10, forms when the title compound undergoes thermal treatment in N(2) atmosphere after the complete removal of the ligands.
