Abstract:Abstract This thesis combines the ABC classification method and hierarchical analysis method to propose the evaluation method of logistics spatial layout and applies it to actual automobile manufacturing enterprises. The spatial layout scheme of logistics nodes in the park has been adjusted and optimized to achieve dynamic inventory classification and improve inventory management. When the demand of the decision-making body decreases, the optimal production and transportation scheduling plan for the automobile industry supply chain is formulated using the dynamic scheduling decision-making model. The results show that the spatial layout optimization scheme of supply chain logistics nodes in the automobile industrial park is RDC-B3, VDC-B5, and PDC-B1. The total cost of supply chain logistics after optimization is reduced by 3.8 × 10 8 yuan. The inventory items in the storage center are divided into 3 categories: A category for inventory items numbered 1-6, B category for 7-9, and C category for 10-11, to improve the turnover rate of the whole inventory and reduce the impact of inventory risk. When the demand side of the supply chain is reduced, the total cost of scheduling the optimal solution is 138.01 million. The research results of this paper have some reference significance.

Abstract:In this paper,we studied the integration and optimization of inventory and transportation of automobile spare parts from the angle of supply chain collaboration.Considering a situation with stochastic demand,we established the bi-level iterative optimization model based on milk-run,of which,the upper level was the inventory model and the lower level was the transportation model.Then using the mixed programming model and the improved genetic algorithm,we balanced the benefit trade-off between inventory and transportation,optimized the total cost of the system,and obtained the optimal solution under the situation of integration.At last,in a numerical example,we validated the effectiveness of the model and algorithm.

Abstract:To optimize automobile logistics network and reduce costs,the integrated optimization model was presented,which provided an integrated view of transportation economies-of-scale,inventory and facility costs as well as service quality.The solution combining the flow prediction algorithm and Genetic Algorithm(GA) was presented.In this solution,GA used particular gene representation composed of binary code and real code,which expressed feasible structure of logistics network.In order to calculate difficult transportation cost between plants and distribution centers in the fitness value function,flow prediction algorithm was presented to find an minimum-cost flow patterns on an network composed of plants,consolidation centers and distribution centers with concave transportation costs and to obtain the appropriate fitness value.Simulations were given to confirm the correctness of the optimization model and the effectiveness of the solution.

Abstract:This paper studied an integrated supply chain system problem that simultaneously determines facility location, multi-modal transportation configuration, and inventory management decisions under both facility disruption risks and operational uncertainties. To formulate the problem, a polynomial-size mathematical programming model is proposed to determine the optimal logistic system design that minimizes the expected total cost. An adaptive solution method based on the Lagrangian relaxation algorithm is developed to solve this model efficiently to a near-optimum solution. Abstract:Due to rapid increases in the automotive markets in emerging economies, leading car manufacturers rapidly expand their manufacturing capacity in countries such as China. A certain portion of key performance components however continue to be sourced from developed countries. We study such a manufacturer that imports high-value components from a developed country. There are two available transportation modes: a slow mode with low cost and long and stochastic lead time, and a fast mode with high cost and short and deterministic lead time. Moreover, the manufacturer is subject to a credit constraint that bounds both the in-warehouse inventory and the number of outstanding orders (because it needs to pay for the components in advance). Consequently, the cheapest hedge against demand and supply uncertainty—inventory—is only available to a limited extent and the decision maker must turn to using the fast transportation mode for a much larger share of the orders. We model the manufacturer’s ordering policy and study its performance using simulation. Our study shows the adverse effects that the credit limit has on the growth opportunities of such companies in developing countries that import high-value components or other goods from developed countries. We show that especially the reduction in lead time variability can substantially reduce these adverse effects. Realizing that this variability is primarily caused by the import customs procedures, governments in developing economies have a means to assist their local manufacturers.

Abstract:Service parts logistics is growing fast in Asia. The industries of high-tech, automotive and aerospace have different spare part attributes and customer requirements, further complicated by the complex logistics challenges in the region, calling for different service logistics networks. Different network models have different characteristics. For example, some models cover a large service area or provide a fast response while others have a good inventory visibility or incur low transportation cost. This paper analyses different industries and various SPL network models in the context of Asia. Through our theoretical and empirical analyses, we find that a centralised 1-echelon network is generally suitable for aerospace and automotive customers whereas a decentralised 2 or 3-echelon network is suitable for high-tech customers. This paper also proposes an easy-to-use framework for selecting the right service logistics network based on different logistics performance elements. At the end of this paper, we offer several managerial implications to improve logistics business and capture potential revenue. This study is useful for corporate managers and scientific community that supports corporate practices.

Abstract:The objective of this paper is to optimize the location problem of single logistics center.Through a- nalysis and appraisement of continuous methods and discrete methods,the method of integrating the two is put forward.Firstly,the continuous model is brought forward that covers such factors as the price of soil,the im- pedance of traffic and the distribution of logistics service demand in different logistics centers that is caused by competition.The objective function of the model is the maximum net benefits which are brought by service de- mand and approaches for settling the model are given by adopting genetic algorithms.Secondly,the spare spots aggregate is confirmed according to the property of soil,the area requirement of logistics center,natural and traffic conditions.Finally,based on the theory of close degree,the academic optimization key is compared with spare spots so as to confirm the final spot where the logistics center is to be built.

Abstract:How can companies develop and maintain global supply chain networks that are robust—that is, capable of maintaining an uninterrupted flow of goods and materials—when confronted with a geographically spreading disruption that could cause the shutdown of multiple suppliers at once? To answer this question, this article combines an empirical analysis of supply chain networks of three global automotive manufacturers with computational experiments. The results reveal that even when a small fraction of buyers adopt regionalizing supplier-selection practices—those in which a buyer chooses geographically proximate suppliers, whether to the buyer or its current suppliers—the supply chain network becomes more robust.

Abstract:In the current era of turbulence, demand uncertainty and significant supply delays have become recurrent challenges for every global supply chain, which are accentuated by geopolitical issues, regional conflicts, natural disasters, etc. Companies are keen to decide when and where nearshoring and offshoring their supply locations and to adapt their inventory control policies to cope with significant perturbations. To deal with these challenges, we investigate the integration of inventory planning at the strategic level through a novel setting of the location-inventory problem under uncertainty. This problem is characterised by inbound multi-sourcing, order splitting among multiple suppliers, and optimised inventory decisions from sourcing to customers under uncertain demand and lead time. A two-stage stochastic optimisation model is proposed and solved using a Benders decomposition algorithm, supported by a sample average approximation approach. The results show that both lead time and demand uncertainties impact strategic and tactical decisions of the global supply network. Specifically, multi-sourcing and inbound order splitting policies have proven beneficial when the network faces a high lead time uncertainty. Based on an illustrative case of a global automobile spare parts supply network under different supply-side scenarios, managerial insights are gained on the benefit of onshore, nearshore, and offshore decisions. When facing a high lead time uncertainty, as in the pandemic case or any geopolitical episode, our findings suggest the necessity to rely on nearshoring for the supply side.

Abstract:In-house part supply affects the efficiency of mixed-model assembly lines considerably. Hence, we propose a reliable Just-In-Time part supply strategy with the use of decentralized supermarkets. For a given production sequence and line layout, the proposed strategy schedules tow train routing and delivery problems jointly to minimize the number of employed town trains and the traveling time, while ensuring that stations never run out of parts. To solve this problem, a mathematical formulation is proposed for each sub-problem aiming at minimizing supply cost. Then, a dynamic programming algorithm for routing and a greedy algorithm for delivery are developed, both of which are of polynomial runtime. Finally, a computational study is implemented to validate the effectiveness of the strategy, and to investigate the effects of the delivery capacity of tow trains and storage capacity of stations on supply cost.

Abstract:A key issue in supply chain design for manufacturing firms is how to make a trade-off between the degrees of vertical integration.This paper studies this issue by a single period supply chain model with one supplier and one manufacturer.For the manufacturer,all the components needed for building the final product are divided into two classes:core and non-core.For the non-core components,the manufacture can either in- vest in building its own production capacities so as to promote the ratio of backward integration,or rely on out- sourcing to an upstream supplier.The manufacture's optimal strategies on integration and outsourcing are first investigated,and then the impacts of such strategies on the performance of the manufacturer,the supplier and the whole supply chain system are analyzed.Finally several ways to improve and coordinate the supply chain are discussed.

Abstract:We consider a supply-assembly-store chain with produce-to-stock strategy, which comprises a set of component suppliers, a mixed-model assembly line with a constantly moving conveyor linking a set of workstations in series, and a set of product storehouses. Each supplier provides components of a specified family, which are assembled at a corresponding workstation. Units belonging to different models of products are sequentially fed onto the conveyor, and pass through the workstations to generate finished products. Each storehouse stores finished products belonging to a specific model for satisfying customer demands. The suppliers deliver components according to a just-in-time supply policy with stochastic leadtimes. Customer demands for a particular model of products arrive at the corresponding storehouse according to a Poisson stream. The paper conducts a modeling and performance analysis in the design stage of the system in the sense of "long-term-behavior". A rolling technique is constructed for analyzing stationary probability distributions of the numbers of components. A two-dimensional Markov chain with infinite states is introduced for analyzing stationary probability distributions of inventories of finished products. Based on these distributions, performance measures of the system, such as work-in-process of components, inventory amounts of finished products, as well as service levels for customers, can be easily obtained. Abstract:Environmental factors are increasingly being considered in supply chain risk management (SCRM), which itself represents a growing trend. Accordingly, dynamic supplier selection and order allocation have become very important. Both qualitative and quantitative factors should be considered in the selection of eligible suppliers. In this study, a novel two-stage comprehensive mathematical model is developed for selecting a set of suppliers and assigning an order quantity to each supplier. The first stage involves a primary selection of alternative suppliers according to the risk value, which is determined using qualitative and quantitative methods based on the best–worst method, and the second stage involves establishing a multiobjective mathematical model for dealing with dynamic supplier selection and order allocation. The proposed approach, which helps enterprises manage uncertainty in SCRM, is applied in this study to the new energy vehicles industry.

Abstract:The location-inventory distribution system design problem involving one supplier,candidate distribution centers and multiple retailers under stochastic demand is studied in this paper.Retailers adopt periodic re- view (R,s,Q)inventory policy,while distribution centers adopt continuous review (s,S)inventory policy.Considering the trade-off between inventory cost,shipping cost and facility location cost,the integrated 2-echelon inventory cost func- tion with incapacitated facility location model is presented.A Lagrangian relaxation solution algorithm for realistic scale problem is then proposed.A number of heuristics are also outlined for solving effectively sub-problems.The sub-gradient method is thus improved.Furthermore,simulations are given to confirm the correctness of the model and the effectiveness of the solution.In comparison with traditional approaches,we discussed the sensitivity of potential cost reduction to the changes of inventory control key parameters such as demand variance,holding cost,lead-time and service level.

Abstract:In recent years, the quality risks in supply chain are frequently encountered by Chinese's manufacturing enterprises, the aim of the paper is to present a manufacturer perspective methodology of forecasting quality risks in supply chain. To do it, firstly, we innovatively propose achieving factors of quality risks by the house of quality of quality function deployment. Secondly, an optimal selection approach regarding support vector machine parameters is suggested based on chaos particle swarm optimization, and then the forecasting model based on support vector machine is advanced. Finally, the experimental simulation of the model should be carried on some sample data. The results show that the forecasting accuracy and generalization ability of the proposed model is higher than particle swarm optimization-support vector machine on the same data sets. Therefore, the proposed method can be considered as a promising alternative method for forecasting quality risks in a supply chain from the perspective of manufacturers in China.

Abstract:Spare parts are one of the important components of the equipment comprehensive support system. Spare parts management plays a decisive role in achieving the desired availability with the minimum cost. With the equipment complexity increasing, the price of spare parts has risen sharply. The traditional spare parts management makes the contradiction between fund shortage and spare parts shortage increasingly prominent. Based on the analysis of the multi-echelon and multi-indenture spare parts support model VARI-METRIC (vary multi-echelon technology for recoverable item control, VARI-METRIC), which is widely used by troops and enterprises in various countries, the model is mainly used in high system availability scenarios. However, in the case of low equipment system availability, the accuracy and cost of model inventory prediction are not ideal. This paper proposed the multi-level spare parts optimization model, which is based on the demand-supply steady-state process. It is an analytical model, which is used to solve the low accuracy problem of the VARI-METRIC model in the low equipment system availability. The analytical model is based on the multi-level spare parts support process. The article deduces methods for solving demand rate, demand–supply rate, equipment system availability, and support system availability. The marginal analysis method is used in the model to analyze the spare parts inventory allocation strategy’s current based cost and availability optimal value. Finally, a simulation model is established to evaluate and verify the model. Then, the simulation results show that, when the low availability of equipment systems are 0.4, 0.6, the relative errors of the analytical model are 3.54%, 3.86%, and its costs are 0.52, 1.795 million ¥ RMB. The experiment proves that the inventory prediction accuracy of the analytical model is significantly higher than that of the VARI-METRIC model in low equipment system availability. Finally, the conclusion and future research directions are discussed.
