Abstract:This paper describes the synchronization of the GPS receiver. The use of FFT in the acquisition greatly shortens the acquisition time and the use of DPLL in code tracking and carrier tracking enables bit boundary to be detected in a very low signal to noise ratio.

Abstract:This paper describes an approach of implementing software based GPS receiver acquisition and tracking for L1 C/A signal. In this paper, in the deep research GPS signal capture principle's foundation, carried on the simulation using Matlab to the GPS signals capture process to realize and to analyze. The simulation result further confirmed this method's accuracy and the feasibility, this to further studies under the true environment in the simulation platform the GPS signal, the improvement satellite receiving unit performance has the very vital practical significance.

Abstract:Fast movement of space satellite,difference of clocks and high dynamics of the application platform of GPS receivers are important factors to influence signal synchronization.In order to handle the challenges of these factors on system synchronization and achieve rapid and correct demodulation of navigation data,a synchronous algorithm of GPS software receivers was put forward on the base of profound study of circumference correlation acquisition algorithms,non-correlated lead-lag code tracking loops and operational principles of Costas carrier tracking circle,whose validity and rationality were tested by simulation for providing realistic grounds for our country to develop application platforms of GPS receivers.

Abstract:Global positioning system (GPS) IF signal simulators provide high-fidelity measurement environments for GPS software or hardware receivers. Based on analyzing the effects of error sources on GPS signals, the mathematical models of IF simulator and algorithems of computing transmission time by using existing ephemeris are present. A software realization of a GPS IF signal simulator is presented where the simulated signal is processed by a software GPS receiver. Measurement results show that this method accurately simulates GPS IF C/A and P codes. This scheme can be easily realized and expanded to simulate other GPS signals by adding other algorithms for evaluating acquisition, tracking, and precision of GPS software or hardware receivers. This method also supports new GPS technology development.

Abstract:This paper presented a method to generate GPS intermediate freguency(IF) digital signal for simulation of GPS signal based on multi-satellites with adjustable carrier-to-noise ratio and Doppler shift.This GPS IF digital signal can be served as reliable data resource in the research of development of software receiver and high-sensitivity GPS receiver based on weak signal processing.The mathematic model of GPS IF signal was designed according to signal processing module in GPS receiver,then GPS IF signal is generated by navigation data of multi-satellites,modulated noise model with adjustable intensity,and GPS raw data which includes real pseudorange and carrier phase.The experimental results of signal acquisition,tracking and navigation data decoding show that GPS IF signal has all the characteristics of real GPS signal,and it can be used in position estimation in software receiver.

Abstract:The conventional matched filter structures are investigated in this paper. An acquisition circuit based on the polyphase form matched filter in Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver is provided. At the cost of less hardware resource, the significant advantage in the speed of synchronization is offered. For 32×128 polyphase form matched filter, the critical path delay approximately reduces 1/2, the sample frequency would be double.

Abstract:This paper presents a method on fine Doppler frequency acquisition in software GPS receiver, which is implemented in Matlab/Simulink. Compared with the existing FFT-based approach, it speeds up the handover from acquisition to tracking stages, and it requires much less computational burden. A field experiment is made to show the positioning performance of the software GPS receiver, which verifies the correctness of the applied acquisition and tracking techniques.
A High Accuracy Time Keeping Scheme Based on GPS

Abstract:The high accuracy time synchronization signal based on global positioning system(GPS)is widely used in many fields like wide area measurement system(WAMS),but in actual applications some problems such as losing satellite lock will lead to synchronous clock signals getting out of sync.A high accuracy time keeping scheme by presetting time difference compensation is proposed.A high accuracy time keeping GPS timing system prototype based on GPS receiver and complex programmable logic device(CPLD)is developed.Comparative tests are made between the time keeping scheme proposed and the other two time keeping schemes,i.e.rising-edge time synchronization scheme and time difference feedback adjusting scheme.Test results show that when using the time keeping scheme proposed,the PPS(pulse per second)signal reaches an accuracy of ±300 ns under normal conditions and will ensure an accuracy of ±20 μs when losing satellite lock within 24 hours,which is obviously better than the other two schemes.

Abstract:The GNSS software receiver principle is introduced based on its architecture.Signal correlator and its work flow are designed firstly in this paper.Parallel code searching strategy using FFT(fast fourier transform)is discussed in detail,and the phase discriminator,frequency discriminator in the carrier loop for signal tracking are also analyzed.Various error sources are discussed such as the clock error,tropospheric error model,where a simple equivalent model for the later one is proposed for the software receiver.The implementation steps based on least square method is also proposed.Simulation result shows that the proposed signal acquisition strategy and the tracking method work well,including the parallel code searching and the PLL(phase lock loop)algorithm supported by DLL(delay lock loop)and FLL(frequency lock loop).In addition,the single point positioning result meets the demand using the least square method with the considerations of clock error,tropospheric error,ionospheric error and the earth rotation introduced error.

Abstract:The GNSS signal simulator is the standard equipment to develop, test and calibrate the receiver. And the channel delay of the GNSS signal simulator would seriously affect the accuracy of positioning and timing. However, the traditional method finding the turning point in signal's time-domain waveforms by the oscilloscope can just be applied well to the legacy signal. With the increasing forms of signal modulation as well as the increasing signal bandwidth, the traditional method has poor performance. For solving this trouble, a measure method based on the software receiver is proposed in this paper. In this way, the software receiver makes full use of the delay lock loop and the channel delay's standard deviation can reach below 0.01m. Besides, this method also puts forward an innovative tracking method "Snapshot Circulation Updating" which can make the software receiver's loop work effectively with just a small piece of data. Finally, through the experiment, this method proves to be effective.

Abstract:Chip timing synchronization between local spread sequence and transmitted spread sequence is critical.in DS-CDMA receiver. Based on typical full-digital IF (intermediate frequency) receiver architecture and the characteristic of spread spectrum demodulation, a novel chip timing synchronization method, named sample selecting scheme, is proposed. After introducing the architecture of full- digital IF DS-CDMA receivers, the scheme is elucidated. The possibility of getting chip timing synchronized and the performance is also discussed in detail. Following the presented implementation approach, computer simulation has been successfully completed to verify the scheme proposed.

Abstract:Because of the size,weight,energy,transmission bandwidth and harsh conditions such as electromagnetic environment of the missile-borne equipment and the requirement for appropriate instruction with good real-time and strong anti-jamming,low error rate and flexible systems and modes of work,a model based on FPGA-based digital data transmission baseband signal bit synchronization was designed and implemented and a method was given for the solution of the glitches,phase jitter.The results show that the method is useful and it is beneficial to the practical work.

Abstract:Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) are the cornerstone of modern navigation and positioning technology. In this paper, we introduce an innovative approach to GNSS signal acquisition, specifically designed to enhance the performance and speed of the signal lock-on process with real-world applications in mind. Our proposed algorithm leverages advanced mathematical tools, including Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and Inverse FFT, to streamline the acquisition process. Notably, it eliminates the need for an Intermediate Frequency (IF) down mixer, simplifying hardware and potentially reducing power consumption in GNSS receivers. One key breakthrough is using the FFT's "circle shift" to handle Doppler frequency offsets resulting from relative satellite-receiver motion. This method significantly reduces the computational burden during Doppler frequency search, ensuring a faster and more efficient lock-on to satellite signals. Furthermore, we exploit the sparse nature of GNSS signals in the reverse FFT calculation, utilizing a Sparse Fourier Transform (SFT) for efficient processing. This innovation allows quicker reverse FFT computations, pivotal in the acquisition process. Through extensive simulations, we demonstrate the superior performance of our improved algorithm. Its speed and reliability make it well-suited for many practical GNSS applications, such as vehicle navigation, precision agriculture, surveying, and geolocation services. By enhancing acquisition efficiency, our approach contributes to more accurate, responsive, and energy-efficient GNSS positioning, benefiting users in both civilian and industrial sectors.

Abstract:This paper presents the signal acquisition and tracking design and implementation for a software GPS receiver. Compared to conventional hardware GPS receivers, software GPS receivers provide flexibility and low cost for algorithms redesign. FFT parallel search is used in acquisition, DLL and Costas PLL are used for C/A code and carrier Doppler tracking. Simulation results prove that our software GPS receiver performs reliable acquisition and tracking.

Abstract:A new bit synchronization method based on phase difference was proposed to achieve bit synchronization of the signals from global position system(GPS) satellites in high frequency offset.The method analyzes the phase difference between adjacent correlations,and finds out the bit boundary position where a maximal phase difference is detected.Furthermore,the method is optimized to improve the bit synchronization performance in extra high frequency offset by frequency compensation,and the optimized method can get the precise frequency estimation simultaneously.Analysis and simulation showed that the method not only has good performance in frequency synchronized situation,but also solves the GPS bit synchronization problem with high frequency offset.
Design and Validation of a Digital IF GPS Signal Simulator Capable of Ionosphere Scintillation Simulation

Abstract:Ionosphere scintillations increase global positioning system(GPS)receiver ranging error and may result in frequent cycle slips and loss-of-locks of satellite signals under severe conditions.A GPS signal simulator incorporating the scintillation simulation capability provides a necessary signal source for algorithm research and performance test of anti-scintillation receivers.First,the software simulating the amplitude fading and carrier phase fluctuations of the scintillated GPS signals is developed based on the AJ-Stanford model and the Cornell model,where the scintillation duration,the data update interval,and the model parameters can be controlled by the user.Then,a digital IF GPS signal simulator integrating ionosphere scintillation simulation is developed,where the PRN numbers, statistical models,start time,duration,and level of scintillations can be configured flexibly.Finally,the correctness of the design is validated by the test results based on a software GPS receiver developed by our laboratory.

Abstract:The key techniques of high performance GNSS signal simulator are presented in this paper. It meets the need of testing new receiver technique. A mathematical model of Doppler frequency is established which is based on pseudo-range and its derivative. The dynamic characteristics of pseudo-range introduced by satellites and receivers are integrated. Considering the existence of LOS and the given Doppler frequency, the multipath fading simulator is made. The satellite clock noise is analyzed. The sequences of clock noises is constructed through state space and is vertified by modified Allan variance.

Abstract:Due to low signal-to-carrier ratio and high dynamic, the frequency deviation affects the bit synchronization in GNSS receiver. This paper proposes a balance differential coherent bit synchronization algorithm, which uses the differential coherent method to eliminate the influence of the frequency deviation. By enlarging the differential distance, the proposed algorithm achieves higher bit synchronization rates. Combining two complementary differential coherent parts, the proposed algorithm avoids the unbalance problem and the attenuation of accumulation. Furthermore, a general architecture is presented to reduce the system complexity. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm improves the sensitivity of bit synchronization by 3 similar to 7 dB compared with the previous method.
