Characteristics of Cognitive Diagnosis Comparing with the Standard Test Theory

Abstract:As a representative of new generation test theories, Cognitive Diagnosis is different from Standard Test Theory theoretically and practically in five aspects:1)Cognitive Diagnosis uses "attribute" as a subdivision and materialization of "ability" in Standard Test Theory;2)Cognitive Diagnosis uses categorical latent variables instead of continuous latent variables used in Standard Test Theory;3)Cognitive Diagnosis has a circulatory assessment process as it may contain intervention and reassessment;4)Validity measurement of Cognitive Diagnosis to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions;5)The application scope of Cognitive Diagnosis. At the end of this article,problems of Cognitive Diagnosis in its development process are pointed out and the perspective of Cognitive Diagnosis is described.
