Study on the cryopreservation effect of adding melatonin、reduced glutathione to the boar semen

Abstract:In order to study the effect of melatonin and reduced glutathione on the cryopreservation of boar semen,we added these two antioxidants independently and jointly to the boar semen extenders in succession,then detected the content of ROS,viability,motility,acrosomal integrity,and mitochondrial activity of post-thaw semen.The result showed that added melatonin 0.25 mg/mL,reduced glutathione 5 mmol/L independently,or added melatonin 0.125 mg/mL and reduced glutathione 1 mmol/L jointly could reduce the content of ROS,and improved the quality of post-thaw semen significantly(P<0.05),and it was better to add jointly than independently.
