A Correlative Study of maladjustment and EPQ about African peacekeeping Soldiers with Suicide Ideation

Abstract:Objective To explore the correlation between psychological adaptation status and personality characteristics about Asian's peacekeeping soldiers.Methods Through random cluster sampling,1343 peacekeeping soldiers by the Military Mental Maladjustment Scale(MMMS)and Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ).Then analyse data by descriptive statistic,T-test,correlation analysis and stepwise regression analysis.Results The suicide idea rate of Asian's peacekeeping soldiers is 21.85%.Introversion and unstable(depression type)is 12,accounting for 20.0%,introverted and stable(mucus type)is 42,accounting for 71.7%,extroversion and unstable(bile type)2,accounting for 3.3%,extroversion and stable(much blood type)is 3,accounting for 5.0% of the suicide idea peacekeeping soldiers;Introversion and unstable(depression type)is 13,accounting for 6.2%,introverted and stable(mucus type)is 149,accounting for 70.6%,extroversion and unstable(bile type)3,accounting for 1.4%,extroversion and stable(much blood type)is 46,accounting for 21.8% of the no-suicide idea peacekeeping soldiers.The total score and each factors of MMMS of the Asian's peacekeeping soldiers were significantly higher than the Chinese soldiers norms(P<0.05).But the total score and each factors of MMMS had no obvious difference between the two groups of the Asian's peacekeeping soldiers.The scores of EPQ-P,EPQ-N,EPQ-L of the suicide idea peacekeeping soldiers was significantly higher than the no-suicide idea peacekeeping soldiers(P<0.05),the EPQ-P had obvious negative correlation with behavior problems factor of the suicide idea peacekeeping soldiers(P<0.05);and the factor of bad interpersonal is positively correlated with the EPQ-P(P<0.05);the EPQ-N had significantly negative correlation with the environment factor(P<0.05).The total score and the factor of bad interpersonal of MMMS have certain positive correlation with the age,and the marriage,position,education(r=-0.188~0.153) Conclusion The suicide idea rate of Asian's peacekeeping soldires is 21.85%.Most Asian peacekeeping soldiers were the personatily character of Introversion stable,the suicide idea peacekeeping soldiers are tend to be more introverted unstable(depression type),and more likely to have maladjustment,and the personality characteristic have obvious relationship with psychological adaptability in Asian's peacekeeping soldiers.
