Abstract:"Suzhou style" or "Suzhou mode", popular in the late Ming Dynasty, refers to the fashion, ranging inclusively from way of life to behavioral pattern. Originated in Suzhou City, the trend lasted for a period of nearly three centuries from the late-Ming to the mid-Qing Dynasties. It was not merely an ostentatious fad, but also an embodiment of taste and status, mode and ideal as well as grace and enchantment. As a trend setter, Suzhou was much admired, respected and e- ven crazily followed. The influential Suzhou style was created by the resourceful Suzhou people, who were good at taking advantages of all kinds and at manipulating the trend set by them, so as to turn themselves into rule makers in the realm concerned domestically and even internationally, thus having a bigger market share and more powerful competitive muscles.
