Expression of CD123 and Its Significance in Histiocytic Necrocytosic Lymphadenitis

Abstract:Objective: To investigate the expression of CD123 in histiocytic necrocytosic lymphadenitis(HNL) and its value in diagnosis and differential diagnosis of HNL.Methods: Morphological observation and Immunohistochemical staining for CD123 detection were carried out to 39 cases of HNL,while same were done to 12 cases of reactive lymphoid hyperplasia(RLH),10 cases of cat scratch disease(CSD) and 12 cases of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma(DLBCL),to collect data as control.Results: The expression rates of CD123 were 89.74% in HNL,33.3% in RLH,30% in CSD and 16.7% in DLBCL.Significant differences were observed between HNL and RLH(P0.01),between HNL and CSD(P0.01),and between HNL and DLBCL(P0.01).The sensitivity and specificity of CD123 were 89.74% and 73.53% respectively.Conclusions: The expression rate of CD123 in HNL was significantly higher than those in RLH,CSD and DLBCL.CD123 has a high sensitivity and specificity and is a useful immunohisitochemical marker in the diagnosis of HNL.
